I had to get two crowns, and I go back again Monday, and in all honesty, this was so much easier than I thought it would be. I've had a crown before, but it was a very painful procedure. All of the stuff that I've dealt with there has been wonderful. As for today's visit, DR. K. ANTANI, checked on me all the time to make sure that I wasn't in pain. The staff is very compassionate. Monica was great! They offered a teddy bear, a warm blanket, and a few other things for comfort. They have warm towelettes that day use to wipe your mouth when you're done. If I went into details, I would run out of room to write but I have to say, I love Napa family dental.

The office felt genuinely family-friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, starting early this year, things took a troubling turn. During a February checkup, two of my children were told they needed multiple procedures: fillings, extractions, and even a crown. I requested to book those immediately but was told they needed to confirm insurance first. I waited over 20 minutes at the desk only to be told they'd call me later with a quote. That call never came. When I followed up, I encountered concerning service. The representative--who I believe is the office manager--was dismissive and twice placed the phone down instead of properly placing me on hold, letting me overhear unrelated conversations with other staff. She repeatedly asked if I was "okay" with the cost, despite me clearly stating it wasn't a problem. Her tone and insistence left me feeling judged, as though I couldn't afford the treatment or didn't understand her explanation. At our next visit, we arrived early for our 1:00 pm appointment and waited nearly five minutes before anyone acknowledged us, despite five staff members being present--including the office manager. When I asked about reimbursement if services weren't received, the response insinuated that I didn't want to pay rather than simply providing clarity. My 8-year-old was especially nervous, and while one kind dental assistant allowed me to accompany her briefly to offer comfort, I was shocked by what my daughter shared afterward. She said the dentist told her the assistant couldn't stay because she had "wasted her time." That's not how you speak to a scared child. To make matters worse, I was nearly charged for an extraction that wasn't performed--only numbing was done. When I tried to clarify at checkout, the office manager repeatedly interrupted me and made it clear she didn't want a conversation. She finally said she'd check with someone "higher up," but I could hear her loud phone conversation where she misrepresented me as refusing to pay for services my child "received." That, on top of everything else--including my daughter saying the dentist was "mean"--solidified our decision: this most recent visit was our last. I understand staffing issues happen, but that doesn't excuse lack of empathy, poor communication, and dismissive treatment. A pediatric-friendly clinic should prioritize kindness and clarity, not frustration and judgment.

The tooth was huge and didn't match my other teeth and didn't fit well in the spot. It hurt really bad for 6 months. I went back a few times and he got mad about it. At the 6 months cleaning I explained it still hurt. He dismissed me. I have now finally been able to go to another dentist (a year later) who noticed right away that it was irritated and that it had a huge clump of cement that was not cleaned off. I guess if you are only going for a cleaning this place is fine but if you need anything serious beware. He is an asshole when you don't agree with him and try to tell him how YOU feel about YOUR OWN MOUTH.

My Mother got $12,000 worth of veneers at Dr. Kerschen's office. She was excited about getting…read morethem until the moment she saw them in her mouth and they were stained grayish yellow. She has bad vision and told him she just wanted them to be a pretty white, but not blinding. Dr. Kerschen didn't take the time to show her the proper shades, instead he sent her to the veneer maker and they gave her a limited selection of shades to choose from with little to no direction or consultation based on her wishes. Dr Kerschen completed all the work before giving my mom the opportunity to see the veneers in her mouth. The situation only got worse when she stepped outside and saw how stained they looked. Why would anyone pay $12k for a complete set of stained teeth!? She was upset, but didn't know what to do after her complaints fell on deaf ears. Within a few months three of the veneers fell out on three different occasions, once while vacationing out of state. Dr. Kerschen fixed them and appeared to recognize what a terrible color they were. On the third fix, he told my mom he would replace her set for her with the desired shade of white. My mother was very excited to hear this and did not end up complaining about how unstable the veneers were. Which must have been his goal since he never followed through with his promise. My mother may be elderly, but she has a family who loves her and doesn't appreciate when she is taken advantage of. The entire experience looks a lot like exploitation or opportunism at the least. We would appreciate it if Dr. Kerschen would put the white teeth in her mouth that she wanted and paid for. At this point we would prefer blinding white instead of what she got, coffee stain grey/yellow. How many other mothers has Dr Kerschen treated like this? Med Spa? It hits you in the face when you walk in. How about just dentistry? 2. My first experience they used some sort of plaque laser that I later was charged for because it wasn't covered. I had never heard of this treatment before, and I'm not entirely sure it's of significant value. 3. I was told that I needed to have a 360 scan of my mouth or head for today's appointment - that it's a requirement of the doctor to provide care. This scan is only 50% covered by most insurance, including mine, resulting in a $100+ out of pocket bill. 4. This is the same practice that billed me for a bunch of DeFazio's work when HE was my dentist. I told them I'm NEVER going to pay those invoices. Long story short: They have quality dentists and hygienists, but the business is a money-grubbing enterprise that will stop at nothing to sell you additional services, many of which have nothing to do with dentistry. I found it extremely off-putting. I just want a dentist to make sure my teeth are healthy. I don't want all that crap. He's going to get $0 from me from now on.
