The dental hygienist at RRMD diagnosed me with periodontal disease and said I would need "extra treatment" my insurance paid $160 and I paid $40 out-of-pocket for the "extra treatment" ** The hygienist at my new dentist said "It's a good thing you came in because your teeth really need to be cleaned" She did NOT diagnose me with periodontal disease. I never mentioned that my teeth had been cleaned at RRMD on April 7th. I guess the "extra treatment" wasn't effective. 2. Dr. Leeper refused to take off the bone graft replacement from my estimate. I was told by front desk staff that Dr. Leeper told her "it doesn't look like the same kind of bone graft that we use" and that they would have to wait until they "got in there" to see if it needed replaced. That's when I canceled my surgery. On the estimate they gave me, the bone graft replacement was $5,624.00!!! ** I asked my new dentist if bone grafts ever needed to be replaced. She said "Nope, the metal post can be drilled into any bone graft" 3. In my opinion, the front desk staff needs to be trained better on insurance and billing. My husband called RRMD regarding our refund because nobody from the office had reached out to us after several weeks. The front desk person told him that the refund was almost $200 less than our estimate from our EOB's. My husband had to physically go down to the office and go through our EOB's with the office manager. The office manager had to explain to the front desk person what she had missed. It was found in our favor and we were refunded the correct amount. I truly believe that if we hadn't been paying attention, we would not have received our full refund. 4. Lack of communication. Every email, message on my chart/smile generation and every phone message I left was unanswered. I was the one who had to reach out to them. Nobody ever communicated back. If you do choose to go to this office, my advice would be... If something doesn't seem right, get a second opinion. Know your insurance benefits. Get a detailed receipt and compare it to your EOB's.

Unfortunately due to a condition my twins were born with on there enamel they have had to have crowns fitted on all of there molars and Dr Gary has been great he is reassuring to both my self and the children and accommodating I really cant say enough good things about the experiences my children have had so far. The dentistry is one of the Premier places here in Albuquerque, the staff have always been the most patient and friendly people and they will put your children at ease. They set us up with their 1st available appointment that was over a month out, but put us on a call earlier list if there is a cancellation. This was great for us, because as retirees we could be available at a days notice. Both of us got calls to come in earlier than our scheduled appointments. Front desk staff were very efficient at processing Maggie & I as 1st time patients. The dental team makes the 1st appointment 2hrs long to do a very thorough exam. They want your input to get your level of involvement in the dental care process. The equipment they have is top of the industry standard. It gives the patient a good view of dental issues, allowing a more knowledgeable choice by patient & Dentist. We never felt pressured to additional care that wasn't truly required at the present time. We were given a break down priority list of items needed & told they would work with us on payment steps based on the priority list. Even given discounts on how payments can be made. The wait was minor and Doctor Trapnell was on it as usual. I'm happy to say they are in fact the best in ABQ. I won't even mess around when any of the rest of my kids who may need ortho... I'm saving time, money, and getting the job done right by picking ABQ ortho.

I came in to have a bonded retainer repaired by Dr. Han that had been stable for 18 years. Prior to…read morethe repair, I did not have a visible gap between my front teeth. Within about two weeks after the retainer was reattached, I developed a visible gap between my front teeth that had not been there before. When I returned to the office, my concern was repeatedly dismissed. Multiple staff members were brought in and I was repeatedly told my teeth "had not moved," despite the gap being clearly visible to me and multiple people in my life. They relied heavily on a 3D scan they had taken two weeks earlier when they originally repaired the retainer. The scan generates both a regular image and a 3D model. They claimed the "model" showed a gap even though the "photo" did not, attributing the difference to saliva. I asked them to do a new scan and compare the images side-by-side. The new scan photo clearly showed a visible gap. However, they were never able to overlay the images, add scale bars, or consistently display the scans side-by-side. I was also given conflicting explanations about why they could not open the updated 3D model. The owner (Dr. Hand) said it couldn't be opened in that room specifically and we couldn't wait to open it in another room when it emptied out, while the technician said the 3D printing company generated the model and they could not access it directly. Even their explanations did not align. At one point I explained that the gap appeared to have increased from roughly 0.25 mm to around 1 mm. The owner responded that maybe it moved "microns, not millimeters," even though that is essentially what I had already said (~750 microns = 0.75 mm). She acted as though I did not understand the difference between microns and millimeters, despite the fact that I literally run a scientific research lab working with nanoparticles and microneedles. After over two hours of advocating for myself, I requested that the bonded retainer be removed because I was concerned it had been reattached in a way that was no longer passive. Once it was removed, they gave me a removable retainer made from the scan before the gap developed. They did not charge me for this visit. After only a few hours of wearing the removable retainer, the gap had already started to close. By the next day, it had essentially closed completely. The retainer caused significant soreness and I could not even bite into food normally, which further confirmed that real tooth movement had occurred. They had also told me that if my teeth had truly moved, the retainer made from the earlier scan would not fit anymore, which is simply not true and not how aligner systems like Invisalign work. Overall, this was one of the worst patient experiences I have had. I would have preferred a respectful, collaborative discussion instead of having multiple people repeatedly insist that nothing had changed when it clearly had.

With my prior dentist they closed without announcement and referred me to their sister company, which made an appointment for me four months after my due date, which was scheduled for February this year.
