This review is for a root canal performed at Modern Dentistry in Albuquerque. The general manager at this location is really caring and proficiently answers all questions as it seems the staff at the front computers are there primarily to check people in. You will be asked to sign forms that you cannot see and they will provide the forms to you only if you ask. They were really good with the estimate they provided ahead of the procedure, so I knew what to expect financially. The team was very kind to reschedule me as I arrived late due to traffic (accident) delays and I arrived at the wrong address - do not put in 2800 Coors as it will not bring you to the right address. This combination of events made me 20 min late even though I had allowed 30 extra minutes of travel time for a 90 min drive. Better to put into your phone the actual name (modern dentistry Albuquerque) or home depot (the office is tucked behind the home pot with no big sign except in front of the office over the front door. If you are more than 10 min late the office may do their best to reschedule you the same day and they will allow you to sit in the sitting area with wifi provided - bring your own water as their water dispenser in the sitting area is broken as of Feb 2023 and no other option is offered. The endodontist, Dr. Wilson, was previously a dentist and is now an endodontist. He uses a microscope to perform his work really well with a set of instruments on a tray, and doesn't use the more modern tools that some endontists now use. He's good about giving info on what he is doing and his dental tech/assistant is really kind and explains additional things if you have questions. Dr. Wilson will sing along to the relatively loud music piped through the intercom of the office - if you do not mind...I kindly provided feedback to him this was not my personal preference as he is drilling in my mouth right next to my ear ...brings back memories of another endodontist in Santa Fe who hums a weird low voice while leaning into the patient during the procedure (felt creepy to me and others in reviews provided similar feedback) - might be soothing to some patients??? So if you'd rather Dr. Wilson not sing, you could kindly ask him ahead of the procedure not to sing and he is super nice, so I'm sure he would kindly oblige. Suggestion: You may want to ask the dental office what pain meds you can safely take before/after your root canal as I was in a lot of pain after the root canal, and no pain meds are provided. Ice and non prescription pain meds were enough to reduce pain once I arrived home. No instructions were provided post procedure and if you need them, perhaps you can ask? CAUTION: Please keep your valuables at hand at this office. As of Feb 2023, there is construction happening at this location and when I left my favorite stainless steel coffee mug in the sitting area, it was gone when I returned from the bathroom and from talking to the front desk. The general manager showed the video of me coming into the front door and did not see that I had tucked my coffee mug under my arm behind my laptop computer - and they actual tried to convince me I had not entered the sitting area with it. I had clearly been drinking the coffee during my entire 2 hour drive, arrived with the mug, and it was stolen from the sitting/waiting area. Three times they asked me to check to ensure it was not left in my truck. There is only one camera at the entrance to the dentist office and none in the waiting area or offices - this might be a consideration for the clinic safety as they continue with construction. My coffee mug (still 1/4 full of black decaf coffee) was stolen from the sitting area and I hope by sharing this that you will be spared the angst that I had in losing something with sentimental value. IMHO it's not the staff who would do this but perhaps the people coming and going. Hope the person that stole it gets as much enjoyment as I did from it - great mug! read more

IMO, Worst place in town for dentures! Took 4 months and the final results were a joke! See through super thin dentures that fit like a 10 year old did the fitting! I bitched about the fit and how light in weight they were. The wanna be dentist tells me he will keep an eye on them when I come back for adjustments. Three weeks after I got them, a bottom tooth broke off and 5 months later, the top dentures broke in half! I had talked to them about the broken tooth when it happened and they wanted to charge me to fix it! Honestly I was kinda shocked at their "we dont really care about your pro lem unless you pay us again" attitude! They charged me over 900.00 for the original dentures after getting paid from Medicare! I found out they charged me for the 2 adjustments which should have been part of the deal. Cost me 350.00 to fix the top dentures. They refused to work with me in any way on the repairs, like a lower repair price because I only had them a short time before the tooth broke, imo they should of repaired it for free! it was their shoddy incompetent work! Took those idiots 4 months to complete those worthless dentures! Got my new ones in 7 hours and they fit great! My insurance company says this place charges for everything. You should not have to pay for adjustments. I would not re commend this Dentist to my worst enemy! Hey, if this business was good and the so called professionals were competent, I would say so, I would tell you, yeah they are good, they do good work etc. But if their work looks like it was done in a third world country, I'm going to tell you that too! Bait and switch. Went in for the $59 new patient exam, x-rays, and cleaning and walked put with a recommendation for more than $8000 worth of work -- and no cleaning. Work that my previous dentist of nearly 20 years, whom I saw every 6 months, never even mentioned. They refuse to do a basic cleaning. They will only do a planing and scaling. Was told that my insurance covered the whole amount of work done, I even asked twice, then at the end I get a bill for 967.00. I was lied to! To get a simple set of dentures it took 4 months and 4 fittings! You would think they would fit, but the top ones were completely wrong, loose as hell, you could tell the wrong frame was used! Then last night I'm eating and chewing on a hamburger and a bottom tooth breaks off! Are you kidding me! Talk about cheap materials, they are fragile and dainty and you can see through them in spots! Looks like they were made in some back alley in some third world country! I call the office and am told there is a charge for fixing the tooth and an exam! They should fix these issues after only 3 weeks! Both are very important to the customer! I guess as long as they get their money, they really don't care about whether the customer is happy and satisfied at the end. I still can't believe they want to charge me to fix their incompetence! The breakage has already happened after 3 weeks, what do you think is going to continue to happen? RUN AWAY!!! I had no pain whatsoever before going here. They never gave me a cleaning, which was the reason I made the appointment to begin with. They went right into "You need four crowns and a root canal". I went ahead and got two crowns and the root canal done. In hind sight, I should have just had the cleaning. I had two temporary crowns made and when my appointment arrived to have the permanent ones placed is where it got messy. The dentist wasn't in the room and actually had his assistant putting my crowns in and she was having a hard time doing so. She must've filed the crowns about twenty times after each unsuccessful attempt to get them on. The dentist, Dr? Aragon, eventually came in and got one on. He then began talking as if the procedure was all done. I asked him if he was going to put the second crown on??? and explained to him that I had gotten two temporary ones on the prior visit. He was clueless that I had two! He was very rough and my cheek bones actually hurt after leaving the office from his hands pressing so hard on my face while putting the crowns on. About a month later I went back to let Dr. Aragon know I was having a lot of pain and one was clicking like it was loose. He stated that they were cemented on so they weren't able to just remove them! Wow just wow, thanks for the concern doc? He also said that it is normal and may last for a couple of months and treated me like I was stupid or something. I didn't think that sounded right at the time and I still have sensitivity and pain several months later. They never did clean my teeth and never mentioned coming back for the other two crowns they said I needed. I don't think any of the work was needed to begin with to tell you the truth. I think it was a way to make some quick cash and shame on him!! BEWARE of this dental office. I will be going elsewhere for my cleaning. I went in for a cleaning and check up last November 2021. After taking X-rays, the staff dentist (Dr. Sanchez) told me that extensive crown and other work was needed. I was presented with a cost estimate of several thousand dollars, but they had not checked my insurance coverage. They said they would do so, and would get back in contact. I heard nothing from them. In January 2022, I phoned them and asked if they had checked my insurance coverage. The phone person said they had not, and they told me that I would need to pay the several thousand dollars costs out of pocket if I got the work done. I asked them again to please check my insurance coverage. The phone person scheduler then said "We don't have time to do that. We are not going to check your insurance coverage." This is the Rudest treatment I have ever experienced by any dental office. Unbelievable! I then made an appointment at another dental office, was scheduled promptly, had X-rays and an exam done and a cleaning. The dentist there told me that I had no cavities or other problems and that he saw no need for any further work, and no need for crowns. They checked my insurance and billed it to my insurance company for full payment. I find the AMD diagonsis, recommendations and customer service extremely disturbing. I will never go there again. Front desk was very rude, and said that it would take two days just to get a regular teeth cleaning and would not budge on literally 10 min of being late when it was still the early afternoon. Dr. Sanchez was amazing! My previous dental office all while working on the same molar over gassed me, left my face swollen black and blue for two weeks. Then the filling failed and I ended up breaking that tooth. Several months of getting the runaround before they addressed it and resulted in a root canal then a crown. The temporary for the crown broke 3 times in less then a week. Then my permanent crown broke just a few months after getting it. They are still giving me the run around. I came to Dr. Sanchez angry, stressed and I'm sure cried a couple times. He was so kind and patient. He is a dentist who still loves and believes in what he does. Even more so he is a protectionist and won't walk away until you both are satisfied. I really thought that with my finances and how damaged the tooth was that I would have to loose it. Dr. Sanchez saved my original healthy tooth and placed the most gorgeous crown on my molar. I am now eager to get all of those little things that my old dental experience scared me out of. read more

The service was not bad: cleaning was good but after getting my cavities fixed those teeth hurt more than before. They charge more than they tell you upfront sending extra bills after your service, so you feel that you have been deceived. read more

I just finished the implant process for the third time and this is by far the best experience of the three. Dr. Aragon and his team made it as painless as possible. The crown fit perfectly without any filing it down to get my bite right. I'm in no pain at all today, which is drastically different from my last experience. I'm originally from California and moved to Albuquerque for school. I was incredibly nervous to search for a new dentist, as I've had the same one for years. I was blown away by the amazing staff at Albuquerque Modern Dentistry. The second I walked in, Devin ensured I was taken care of and all of my paperwork was in order! Candyce helped me take my x-rays; she was quick and very attentive to any pain. Dr. Sanchez was very assuring and helped fix a lost filling. Everyone was extremely friendly, positive, and excellent at what they do. I felt like I was a part of the Albuquerque Modern Dentistry family. My experience was not the best, so I can't recommend this office. A lot of excuses as to why things didn't get done, but no one owned the fact it wasn't done. Let me start by saying I have a fear of going to the dentist, like most people. I've never had a better experience at a dentists office! This place is extremely clean, everyone was really friendly, and they even had TV's in all the rooms so you could have a little distraction while they work on your teeth. I saw Dr. Lantz and he was awesome, he explained everything he was doing and gave recommendations for me. I never once felt like he was trying to up sell me on anything, which I appreciated. He was very personable and made an effort to get to know me which made me feel really comfortable! Luke did the cleaning on my teeth and he was very pleasant and funny which made time go by fast. I had my regular cleaning done today at modern dentistry Westside location by RDH Vanessa Hernandez. She is awesome, very kind and very polite. She makes me feel very comfortable even though I don't like going to the dentist. I highly recommend her to anyone. My family and I will continue to go there. I came today and was seen by Dr. Tran. She did a thorough exam before my regular cleaning. I have a couple of teeth that will need work soon but she suggested to monitor them to see if they progress. I liked how honest and up front the office and Dr Tran was with me. The cleaning went good - I had a couple of sensitive spots but the hygienist took the time to be extra careful. I think her name was Liana. Last time I came, I was seen by the other hygienist; she is great at what she does also. This office gives you the option to fill out paper work at the office or before on the Internet. I like that they are up to date with technology that saves time and extra visits to the office. read more

My family was a seen here several times not knowing that the procedures they recommended were unnecessary. These procedures were not covered by insurance, and overpriced, unfortunately we paid out of pocket for procedures that we didn't need. Dr. Aldeen has been amazing. His calming manner is great. He is a great dentist who is informative and supportive without being condescending (which I have seen with so many dentists). The office staff greets me by name, works great to explain billing and insurance claims and they are always doing charity work (which gives you a discount if you bring in a donation for the charity - such as a sporting good items for the sports teams). read more

I have been going to this dentist for almost a year now to have a full set of dentures made. After numerous visits for "fitting" the "temporary dentures" we were finally ready for the permanent set. LOL- and OMG what a nightmare, the "permanent" set that were supposed to be "so much better" are so much worse. I can't even close my mouth to properly chew and when I told the dentist he was like " well, they look nice and I don't know why you can't close your mouth" Like WTF people! Today I tried setting an appointment for my son to get a consult for orthodontics. The scheduler gave me several appointments during the AM to which I replied that I need something after 3 PM. She put me on hold or mute (without asking my permission, just disappeared) and came back with an option for 1 PM even though I specified after 3 PM. Apparently they can't set appointments after 3?!? Why should my son have to miss school to accommodate the orthodontist? I even told the scheduler that I am willing to wait a bit but she acted as if it was impossible. I advised I would just check elsewhere and she quipped back with "ok". Seems like the people you first see and speak with should represent the practice more professionally. I found another orthodontist who was able to work with my schedule and was even nice about it, go figure. I actually come to this practice for my routine dental care but this experience just left a sour taste in my mouth and I just don't feel like I want to go back there again. I will say I haven't had I had experience prior to this but this one just didn't sit right with me. read more

Albuquerque Modern Dentistry is about as dishonest a supposed professional as one could ever find. From the "free" teeth cleanings, to the more advanced services, to the billing, they are totally ineffective. Free cleanings were never free cause they kept saying that one should get the service that is not covered by insurance which I got but for the last several years every single time I went to the dentist I was told I needed a service that would cost at least a $1,000. Be it a crown or filling, didn't matter as I would have to return to get the crown reglued because the work was so shoddy. My last few visits were for dental implants, Dentistry gave me a plan that cost $16,000 which I accepted because they are the professionals. I prepaid the amount due as that was supposed to be all I needed. After the work was done, I got a bill for $1,000 additional. Even though I didn't get any services that should not have been planned for, their plan was incomplete. I argued that I should not be responsible for their incomplete plan but did not prevail. They sent me to a debt collector after only one billing cycle. Don't trust these people. They make it sound like they only want your good health but that is not true. They want your money and are devious about getting it. read more

Okay so I love the dentist here. They are fabulous and have great bedside manners. My biggest problem with this place is time management. I have spent 2 hours here just for a routine cleaning. I understand that they have a busy schedule and a lot of patients to see but when there are only 3 appointments left for the day. It should not take 2 hours for a cleaning. That being said the dentists are great, the techs are fabulous, and the women that handle the front desk do a great job. read more

I was in a lot of pain from my top left wisdom tooth, and I didn't have dental insurance, so I called around to find out which place would offer me the best price since I was going to pay for it out of pocket. I was recommended to First Choice. I scheduled my appointment, showed up, they numbed me up, and five or 6 minutes after the anesthesia kicked in, the tooth was extracted and I was being given instruction for post-op care. The dentist and dental assistant (Bella) were very professional and competent. The only complaint I have is that they didn't prescribe any narcotic pain meds for afterwards, but its a small complaint since they did a good enough job that I wasn't in any major pain afterwards. By far the best dental office ever! I absolutely hate shots, but Dr. Lantz is so gentle I didn't even feel it. All the assistants are so great and quick with getting X-rays done. This office use to be great when My children saw Dr.Tasker. Every time we have went in or at least the past 3 times the dental hygienists have been so unprofessional and ride with my children! One child was set for a cavity fill that "needed to be done quickly" we were told that in February and well it's already the end of July and she is still without a cavity fill. We show up for her fill and confirmed multiple times with people on the phone and with a text confirmation we show up to be told it's an hour later. This place is very aggravating to see how good the appearance of the staff and how pleasant the staff was from the dental hygienist to check out has gown down hill.
