Many of the park roads are one way which was a bit of a challenge to getting exactly to where I could see I wanted to be but the road doesn't go that way. Oops. Connersville has a really nice park that has something for everyone. Whether you like swimming,…read morebasketball, pickleball, tennis, or horseshoes, they have a place for it at Roberts Park. If you like watching your kids play on a variety of swings, slides, and climbing equipment scattered throughout the park, the have those here too! The park is a mature park with lots of shade trees that are greatly appreciated on days like the one I visited here. There are narrow roads that meander through the park since the place is quite large. On the south end near the aquatic center, there is an amphitheater for racing and some barns near there. I didn't see any horses during my visit, but I assume that the barns and track are for those. Must be a seasonal thing like the swimming and water slides. The park also has the Longwood Covered Bridge which was relocated here for preservation. There are a couple sculptures and a few plaques to commemorate bits of history tied to the park & Connersville. Generally, there are a lot of options for individuals. The only reason I didn't give this a five star review is that the park looks like it could use some attention. The tennis courts has cracks that have been sealed, but the scraggly white lines should have been painted over to match the court. Very distracting. Some of the older playground equipment could used a fresh coat of paint too. The garden area by the park admin building was in need of some trimming and the brick around the fountain could stand some work too. Little things, but they do separate an older park from one that has the latest features. A wish list would be a walking trail separate from the roads. I don't like having to continuously watch over my shoulder for vehicles coming up behind me, or having to walk through the grass when it's wet from dew. Checking in on the holiday typically gets you a quieter park and season our hunch pays off. The park is mostly empty today. In the 4 hours of useable daylight my first impression is really good. DNR presence on site is nice and the park is clean, a lot cleaner than many that I have seen the day after a holiday. Full hook up sites are A1-A5 and C1-C56. Loop B,E,D,F & G are electric only. There are 14 handicap accessible sites in the lettered section of the campgrounds, The playgrounds look to be in good condition (we didn't use them). The shower houses are large and in good repair. Pets are allowed and I'm pleased to say that overall the absence of pet feces is amazing. For those staying in electric only or primitive sites at the dump station there is a tank fill. Water pressure in the C section is about 70psi when we tested it so one shouldn't forget there regulator. As for the dump station there really isn't much innovation, it's a dump station and if you can't smell it from your site it's a great station. Camp store and bait shop, boat launch just down the drive along with (2) more dump stations totaling (3) for the campgrounds. (5) total shower houses and numerous toilets. Over 1/2 the sites are mostly sun but generously spaced.

There is a second level downstairs that includes an open Kitchen and long bar. This is also where the restrooms are. The dance floor could be anywhere there is not tables. There is a small platform stage which is ideal for DJ, lights and PA system. I would not consider this place wheelchair friendly. Parking is plenty, but 50 here, and 50 there. Not all so near the lodge.

Took an hour trip up in 750 acre woods up hills down hills through creeks and even through the river. This is about riding and being in nature. Loved it will be back!! Additional horses are superbly trained, and very attentive to doing there jobs!

Might even plan a trip for this winter for a weekend getaway! I ate at their restaurant, Ainsley's Cafe, and the food was very good. Service was a little spotty, but they were very busy and it has a relaxed atmosphere, so it was fine. Good crowd of nice people and families, not too snooty or pretentious. I was seated on the outside patio that was so relaxing and had an excellent view of the lake and all of the boats buzzing around on the lake. Boat rentals are available and pretty affordable.

Two of the trails were closed, maybe due to the rain? There is a map right next to the parking lot, plenty of benches to enjoy the view or rest.

I decided to take a break from driving and stopped by Brum Woods in Batesville. There is a lot to…read morelove about this place: Whether its the contact with nature you get walking through this former farmland turned woods, or you like the beautifully maintained trails, or appreciate the total accessibility of Trail #1 with its wide paved path with practically no elevation change, this park is great! There is a small parking lot for guests on the east side of the park. From there you can check out the information board at the trailhead that lets you know how long each of the loops are. (They even tell the distance for the connection loops!) The park is divided by a road, so Trail #1 (Lena's Loop) is fully paved and wide enough for a vehicle to drive on, but of course, those are prohibited. The loop is 0.6 miles long and goes through the maturing forest and then opens up to a small prairie area on the west end by the division road. Along the way, you can read the story of Lena Brum who lived on the land and was quite a character who insisted the land not be developed when she left it to the city. Across the division road are three more trails (not sure why there isn't a Trail #3). Those trails are a bit longer, but are unpaved. For the sake of preservation, no hikers or bikers are allowed on these trails when they are wet, so you have to watch the sign at that trailhead to see if the trails are open or closed. Sadly for me, they were closed on my visit, so I can't give you much information about their condition / attributes. It would be nice if they let you know at the first trailhead that the other trails were closed before hiking over to the second. Since it was early spring, the trees weren't in their full foliage, so the views weren't as beautiful as I would have hoped, but the next time I am in the area, I will hope it is dry and that I can make a return visit to this park. It was my first time at Morgan's in Brookville and it was spectacular. We did the 5 mile trip and it only took is 3 hours to complete. The people there are very good explaining everything and their equipment is superb! Make sure you do the upgrade for the "plastic" canoes, worth it after seeing people struggle with their aluminum ones the rivers. Their set-up is awesome, at the end they are waiting for you with a bus to bring you back to the start. There facility is super nice.... the restrooms could use some TLC, but not a big deal.

Met Morgan himself, such a nice fella, explained to us the diff kinds of canoes and pricing. We didn't put our valuable stuff like phones, wallet and food in a waterproof pouch or ziplog bag since we didn't think we'd flip (how hard is it to canoe, right?) But we did...our phones were donezo, sandals and sandwiches floated away, at the end of the day, we were barefeet and hangry. IN allows beer on the river so bring some and enjoy a nice refreshing adult beverage out on the water! Will definitely be back for some more canoeing or kayaking in the future!

Drove out to Laurel Indiana for a day of riding dirt bikes with a couple friends of mine. We came…read moreduring the week and were the only ones in the entire park. It's nice as it is only about 65 minutes from Cincinnati $20 day pass is a fair price for a day to explore the 750 acre off road vehicle park. Great trails some are easy and others are very Challenging. Just depends what path you want to go. The only negative from my point of view are the deep ruts from the full size Jeeps, Trucks etc. I wish it was only limited to bikes, quads, and side by sides etc.

But that's not really a big deal. There was a girl that set us all up with signing the waiver and taking our money and all that stuff, she was very nice and an older gentleman that was just hanging around which I'm sure worked there as well and was friendly just as much. The price was $25 each and they gave us a card so if you come back within the year you bring that card with you to get $5 off admission. Giving this place is for muddin' I thought the restrooms looked very nice, can't expect them to be squeaky clean when there's mud everywhere outside. We took Jeep's and RZR's out for a good muddin' time! Enjoyed it very much. Was nice that our group was pretty much the only ones out there, that was probably due to it was freezing outside and it was SuperBowl Sunday, but being there early in the day I figured there'd been more people, but I'm not complaining. I'm sure we'll be back, probably when it warms up a bit, haha! If you like muddin' or never have done it I'd highly recommend it, as this was my and my wife's first time we throughly enjoyed it!
