UPDATED REVIEW: Ok, now I get it. After a few more visits and getting to understand their bedside manner, I absolutely understand the 1 star reviews. I'll give them a 2, but I'm not going there anymore (and I never did switch primary care for my husband and son), so that should probably tell you something. I'm really surprised by the 1 star reviews for this place. I don't have a primary care physician, and I called yesterday to say 1. I need a primary care physician and 2. Any chance someone can see me today for something urgent? They happily obliged, everyone I interacted with at the office was so nice it almost confused me (I'm definitely more used to rude/uncaring medical office staff) and the nurse and doctor I saw took plenty of time to get lots of information from me and let me ask questions. Health Care in the United States of America has to be one of the things that is most mired in the bureaucratic minutia caught in a triangle in the wasteland between law, politics and the Hippocratic Oath. As such attending most anywhere to see a Doctor has all the appeal of an extended stay with the TSA at the airport. Medicine is more a business than a calling in a lot of places; some front desk people care more about your insurance and co-pay than relaying what is wrong with you to your chart. Most Doctor's seem like they pay more attention to the outlines of their malpractice insurance than in finding a cure for what ails you. Then there are some places that can find that balance between efficient office procedure and patient care. They provide a space for people that is comfortable, sure the same magazines as most places, I think Publishers Clearance must offer a one size fits all subscription package to medical offices. The good ones, they have Wi-Fi available for free, a place for laptops in the waiting room instead of in your lap and a water fountain. Here at Family Wellness we have such a balance. It's a big building, they push a lot of people through here daily, it just doesn't look like it or feel like it. That my friends is the perfect Doctor's office. The nurses listen to you, they don't look like they are thinking two patients ahead of you. The Doctor that I see there, Dr. Young, is confident and takes some time with you. They even run some tests right there in the office, tests I've waited 10 days for in other places. You sick? Go here. You well? Go here to stay that way. They are right next to a 24 Hour Fitness Center, you can find out you're fat and do something about it within 250 feet of the front door. Then again if you shred something working out then help isn't far away. Win/Win. read more

I haven't had any good experience here. When I made my appointment I asked to discuss three separate things. The nurse practitioner rushed through the exam and left me before making sure all my needs were met. During our conversation, I didn't feel like she was listening to what I was saying, just going though her list. Then when her nurse assistant told her and she came back, there's was no time to address the need. When I called to schedule another appointment about a year later, the receptionist was rude when I requested a new physician. All in all, very unhelpful. One of the worst experiences with a rude staff I have ever had. All I was looking for was a smaller more personable clinic. Long....very long wait times and if an issue with billing ever does come up, watch out. We are way better off at Vancouver clinic. Never thought I would say that. Just wanted to add that a letter from this clinic with personal health information arrived in our mailbox completely wide open. The professionalism just is not there with this clinic. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! This clinic was spectacular when Dr. Hughes was around, but since she left it has gone completely downhill! I took my little brother in to get his shots for school not too long ago. Checked him in, got everything situated, then sat down to wait for the nurse to call us back. They never did. I had to march up there a half hour after his scheduled appointment and ask what the hell happened. They apologized and said they would try and squeeze us back in. No. You don't try, you do. They are the ones who screwed up and made it sound like my fault. It wasn't until I went and complained a second time that we finally went back almost 45 minutes after his scheduled appointment. Now, the boy is in 6th grade and not at all afraid of needles. Because of this massive wait he psyched himself out and was absolutely terrified. he wouldn't get his shots and they said we would have to come back, which meant paying more, all because they screwed up. Next comes my mother. She went in for pains in her right side that we were pretty sure was from appendicitis, but we just wanted to make sure. she gets back into the room and the doctor proceeds to lecture her about her high blood pressure, which is genetic, instead of actually take care of her! They then informed us they could fit her in for a scan in about a week. IT WAS APPENDICITIS!!!!! We left, went and went to the hospital rather unhappy. Then there's all the BS that goes along with trying to order a prescription. They want you to come in every 120 days for any kind of chronic medication to "make sure it's working" aka they want to charge you $150 for nothing. They also can't seem to get it right where to actually send your prescriptions. It took me forever to get them to switch my prescription to CVS/Caremark. They pretty much just refused to do it. Ok, I wrote a previous not so favorable review about a year and half ago. Do to inertia, I set up an appointment for a Tdap shot because my wife and I were expecting our first baby. Well, the baby decided to come early. Well in haste I was trying to get a shot, the day we were starting the time sensitive induction of my wife. I am totally aware that I was in a very emotional state, but when I called to see if they could get me in for a quick shot, the receptions said sorry we close in a few minutes. I asked again to please make an exception, and she said sorry we close in 1 minute. In my last post, I said they lost a patient. Well they had a chance to save one due to an extremely time sensitive situation. Too bad they suck. read more

If you're a new patient, you can get in right away. I've seen my doctor about 5 or 6 times and thought my first couple of experiences may have been a fluke. Front office staff complains about back office staff to the patients, but when you meet the back office staff, you understand why. The doctor's asst. (for my dr. anyway) has always seemed like a very unhappy employee/person. She makes it clear that patients are a bother, and makes you very uncomfortable, as if you're an inconvenience. If you don't continue to push for answers to questions, etc. she WILL ignore you. The process for a blood draw is ridiculous. They have a lab right there, but refuse to let you come in ahead of time so that when your appt comes around, you can discuss detailed results with your doctor. Instead they take blood from your finger onto a coffee stirrer. This is extremely painful and has never taken less than 10 minutes. Results are entirely bruised fingertip for days. The doctor can get immed results with this, but they are not detailed results, so you still have to wait and get them by mail. If the dr. writes you a script, the office staff WILL screw it up. They can't do 3rd grade math and somehow give the wrong total amount of pills requested to the pharmacy. The dr. writes it correctly, but dr. asst. can't just be a waitress and give and retrieve the order; she likes to tinker with it and fouls it up. I've had the pharmacy tell me how rude she is. This will sound terrible, but the doctor never looks tidy. It's time to look elsewhere. read more

Don't ever go here. I have given this place so many chances! I have been seeing Dr. Hildebrand and every time I go in, she makes fun of me for coming in. She seems bored when talking to patients. Also, the receptionists are very rude and don't seem to understand how insurance billing and scheduling appointments works. The only reason I gave this place one star is because you have to give at least one for a review. read more

My regular PCP is always scheduled out too far or on vacation to address my needs so I was scheduled with a new NP. When she asked what my concerns were I told her abdominal pain and I needed my 6 month blood draw (which is a CMP) to monitor my liver enzymes. She ordered several lab tests and my blood was drawn. The first time I called the MA said the CMP was normal even though it was never processed. I discovered they hadn't processed the test after reviewing MyChart. In the end I had to call three times -no call back on my message when it was apparent the CMP was never processed. All of the other labs that she decided to throw in were processed, but not the most important one that needs consistent monitoring. I called and spoke with the Clinic Manager, Cheryl....who was very unresponsive to my disappointment and offered me no help other than to redraw and retest (at my expense). There was literally minutes of silence while I waited for her to offer some kind of help or compensation, but all she could do was nothing. I am very disgusted with the handling of my health concerns with this clinic. read more

Last time I was there the patient bathroom was filthy, the rug is dirty with spots, the receptionist swore as I walked in the door over something she had just done and they act like you're an object. I have seen other clinics go down, and many times those are indicators. Not putting the money back into the building and furnishings. Not training staff in actual training classes how to conduct themselves, the value of the client, customer care, etc. They may be underpaying staff, and that is why they are getting the caliber of people that care less and are rude. It comes from the top. They really need an office manager with higher expectations and a plan to keep on track. Assigned duties, refresher courses about client treatment, etc. When you have a request by phone, the staff is often rude, and acts like they are the only thing in town. Very supercilious and treat people as if they are ignorant medically, the staff acts as if they are all-knowing and have a you-will take-what-they-give-you-attitude. I spoke with Angie Dr. Hildebrand's nurse and was treated poorly. We lost connection and I waited for her to call me back, hahaha. Yeah, right. Made the decision to join another Medical group as a patient today. read more

I am severely disappointed with this place. We had been seeing Dr Karl Kuzis for 5 years, when he had his own private practice in Camas. Recently he had closed his office and joined FWC. We hadn't seen him since his move to FWC and when I tried to make an appointment for my boys to see him, the receptionist was extremely rude. What I needed was a physical check form filled out for both our boys to go to scout camp. The receptionist told me they don't do those kinds of checks and while I was asking her who she would recommend I call, she hung up on me. Yes... she hung up on me. I called right back and apologized for our disconnect and asked her again who I can call. She then said that they do actually do physicals for sports and camp, but since Dr Kuzis is now with FWC, the boys would be considered new patients, and because of that, she can't make an appointment for them to see him. Yeah, I didn't understand that explanation either. At any rate, I called Vancouver Clinic and got an appointment right away for the boys to get their forms filled out. Too bad for Family Wellness Center. I hope Dr Kuzis hears about this. read more

So in case anyone was wondering. If you "no show" the next time to call to make an appointment you get a warning that they might drop you next time you "no show". I spaced on an appointment for my daughter. I made her appointment during Spring Break and then completely forgot about it. I realized what I did today after sitting down in front of my calendar for the first time in a week. Never mind I'm a mother with 4 children and sometimes I forget thigs. I've forgotten about appointments with past doctors and NO ONE has ever warned me that the next time i "no showed" I'd be dropped. Mind you this is the FIRST time I've "no showed" at this office. It was a mistake an honest mistake. I should have really paid attention tot he reviews about the fault front office staff and the weird feeling I got from our Nurse Practitioner. We don't go to the doctor often so I figured we could deal with the weirdness but now we're going elsewhere. read more

This is the worst and I mean the very worst place for medical attention. The medical assistant who answered the phone is very rude and poor at customer service, clueless and a dumb blonde if I may say so. I went in and tried to get in without having to deal with her. Called for an appointment and receptionist was rude and really didn't understand my insurance. I would think the person answering the phone would have some manners and knowledge of the various insurance plans available. I have no plans to pursue this further and I caution those that actually go here to watch their billing and insurance billings carefully. I wish you luck. read more

My family and I have been attending this clinic for over 8 yrs and the service and health care has slowly deteriorated. I have seen almost all of the providers including Susan Hughes, Morgan Powell and Stephanie Bennet, all three seem like they don't care and rush you out the door. Specifically, Dr. Hughes she continues to jump to conclusions and will order tests and referrals without reviewing your sx properly. They have lost their touch and passion for health care and compassionate care. Just recently, they mixed up my mom urine test with another patient and rx my mom abx that she was allergic to. I am also a ARNP so I know how the inside of clinic runs but this is completely unprofessional and UNSAFE! This clinic is losing 4 patients today. read more

My husband and I have been going to Family Wellness since relocating to the area in 2001. Coming from a background of having two family practitioners in our family, we were encouraged to look for practitioners who are friendly, give detailed information, order tests, and who are not too proud to seek a second opinion (it is your life in their hands so it's good to go with someone who takes that seriously). We found just that at Family Wellness. I primarily see Stephanie Bennett and she has proven herself to be very knowledgeable and to think outside of the box to acess situations when tests come back unusual. I was disappointed that they don't do OB but I trust her so much that both of our children go to her as well and she has given excellent care to both of our children from day one. I have referred three coworkers to her and they have all been very pleased with her as well. The only reason that I could see that we would stop going there is if we moved away from the area or if they all retired! read more

Where do I start?! ok, so we waited almost an hour past my scheduled appointment. When we were finally called back, the nurse apologized for the wait and told me that Dr. Dyehouse (the doc I was seeing) had a regular habit of running behind. She then went on to tell me that she purposefully left us out there because either way we would be waiting. Very difficult to get the correct prescriptions. Docs seems very unsure of themselves. Felt very rushed and brushed off. Went to pick up my daughter's perscription and was told that the meds would be 200 bucks...which is unheard of. Wife called them back and imformed them of this issue and she was told that SHE needs to call the pharmacy and ask about a different alternative. 5 minutes later the receptionist called back and said that she "worded" that wrong and that she will call for us. I was blown away... Extremely unprofessional! Would not reccomend this clinic! read more

I've been going to Family Wellness Center for approx. 10 years, and have been disappointed many, many times. There's very little bedside manner, lot's of lengthy red tape processing, etc., if you need to get something done quickly regarding a concerning health issue...forget it. I've tried switching Doctors there, but the issues have only gotten worse. Here's an example of my latest go around; I called in and asked for a complete blood panel to check for quite a few concerns such as testosterone levels (I'm a 58 yr old male), prostate levels, check for diabetes, kidney & liver function, etc. I requested DR. YOUNG, a doctor that seemed knowledgeable and one that might be helpful... 1. They turned me away at my FIRST appointment and said that I needed to fast for 12 hours...something they failed to inform me of when I made the appointment. 2. On the SECOND appointment they took my blood. 3. He wanted me to come in again to go over the results with me, and so at my THIRD appointment he said that my testosterone was very low, and prescribed testosterone shots...he never brought up any side effects, and when I asked him about a few side effects I happened to know about, he just blew them off and said they wouldn't be a problem. He also said the fat cells in my body were high, but thought the testosterone would take care of that also. I had to bring up the concern for any possible arteries that might be clogged, and he said, "Oh, it looks like we didn't check for that. We'll take some more blood and run that test too". 4. Then his nurse called a few days later, and said he wanted me to come in for a FOURTH appointment so he could go over the results of the test to see how high the fat levels are in my arteries. I begged her to just let me talk to him over the phone, as I can't take anymore time off work, etc. He reluctantly did and said that my coronary arteries are inflamed, probably because of plaque/fat build up, and just wanted to prescribe Statin drugs. When I asked him about side effects...same thing...no info offered. (However on the internet there's a huge list, many life threatening) I had to bring up the concern for a possible localized clogging of an artery, and asked what other tests we could do to make sure I don't have a dangerous situation, and he then said he would put in a referral for a heart specialist to see if the problem is a general one, or a serious localized fat deposit, that could break loose and cause a heart attack, or stroke. 5. I called a few days later, after experiencing quite a few side effects from his testosterone shot, and also after noticing online that there's a huge list of side effects, (some extremely serious), and I wanted to discuss what I was experiencing with him, however I was only able to talk to the receptionist...not Dr Young as she said he wasn't available, nor was his nurse. I also asked his receptionist what the status was of the referral for the heart specialist, and she said that THERE WAS NO REFERRAL PLACED, AND THAT HE HAD POSSIBLY FORGOTTEN TO MAKE ONE! I was very concerned with this, expressed my concern with the receptionist, wasn't rude to her, however she put me on hold, told Dr Young that I was rude and of course he rushed right on the phone...now miraculously available...and told me very abruptly that there are other Doctors in Clark County, and I should take my business elsewhere...? 6. So now I'm at home with major side effects from the drug he prescribed and doesn't care about, with a concern that I may have a serious cardiac problem that he obviously doesn't care about either... Family Wellness Center in Clark County Washington is a nightmare to deal with. They only want you to come in so they can charge for office appointments, to push the pharmaceutical company's drugs with no concern for the multitude of side effects you may have to deal with, they'll dump you if you have too much concern, and they 'hate it' if you ask questions or look up drugs on the internet and second guess them. Way too many mistakes, hidden knowledge, and office red tape. If you want a real doctor that cares...you'd better go elsewhere... read more

I just got off the phone with this clinic and was informed that I would need to pay them a DEPOSIT!!! Can you believe it??? I have NEVER heard of such a thing when trying to find a new doctor. Apparently, when they called my insurance company and confirmed my coverage they also inquired as to what my deductible is. I don't even know if that is legal but I intend to find out. Then, based on the fact that I have a slightly higher deductible (75% of which I have ALREADY paid) they decided that, as a new patient with a high deductible, that I would need to pay them a $150 deposit as they have no payment history with them. I told them I'd be happy to give them my credit score (hovering around 750-800) should this be an issue. I told them that I would not participate in such poor medical practices to which the receptionist seemed confused that I would "feel that way". REALLY? Has anyone else reading this ever been asked to pay a deposit on medical appointment? I'm guessing not. Based on a few other comments from others on this site in which they warn to watch out if an issue with billing arises, I suspect they engage in all kinds of hard-ball and unethical billing business practices. So I'll give in to my gut instinct and heed the advice of the others on this site and will STAY AWAY. read more

I have been coming to this office for over 10years, seeing the same Dr. (Stephanie Bennett) and have never really had an issue until now. while waiting in the room I could hear Dr. Bennett in the hall talking with her nurse about how lame I was for coming in and her nurse then proceeded to say "we have patients practically dying and wont come in and then we get these people who come in for a scrape on the knee" I was astonished at the lack of professionalism they both showed and when the Dr. came back in the room I told her if she was going to talk about her patients in that manner she should make sure they cant hear her and I walked out! needless to say I am looking for another place to take my simple scrapes on the knees..... read more

I am very disappointed with this place. I am an ex-patient of Karl Kuzis, and this place was recommended by him. The staff was rude, they require deposits for new patients (even with good health insurance), they don't send billing invoices until your "account" with them is in the red (so basically they are holding your money like a bank until it runs out - then they send a bill), and they gave several conflicting answers to questions answered by different people. I also hope that karl hear's about this and chooses to practice somewhere else. I am finding another Doctor. If anyone chooses to get their medical care from someone on the staff here, ask questions about everything, ask for it to be repeated, and then ask again. Don't rely on what one worker tells you. read more

I went here for the first time today. I saw Dr. John Whitehorn. He was incredibly rude. I went in for a pinched nerve in my back which I have been dealing with for over 2 weeks. It's worth mentioning that I had a baby 9 weeks ago and lost all my pregnancy weight by 2 weeks postpartum. So after he poked my back a couple times and decided to just give me a muscle relaxer he felt the need to bring up my weight. (most doctors do I'm overweight and surprise I know it.) It wasn't the fact that he brought it up it was how he talked to me. He said "You know what I'm going to tell you needs to be fixed to help your back" and I said "my weight", because yes I know. Then he said "You need to get that weight off because it's putting strain on your back". I was being polite so I said "Yeah it's easier said than done" that's when he said "No it's not. You make the food then you eat it. So just don't." I said "Well I can't just not eat" and he said " Well you need to get the weight off, and it's A LOT of weight." I have had lots of doctors talk to me about my weight but I have never wanted to punch one of them. I just felt like there was a better way he could have went about it. And I didn't come in because of my weight, I came in because I have a pinched nerve from taking care of a baby 24/7 and not being able to rest my muscles. I don't know about the clinic it's self but that doctor was rude. read more
