This place needs to do better. There are not bags to take your food out. The cashier gave me a very small McDonalds bag that was under the counter. It fit only 1 small container There are no visible prices for the customers to know what they will be paying. Disaster. Their food is alright most times. The service is most times nonchalant. Every time I get food there and the women are behind the desk and I ask for the pickliz, they never have it. This is some of the most delicious food you can get yourself in Rockland. I used to live right around the corner and would RUN here at least twice a week. Sure the ambiance is nonexistent but you're coming here for some real authentic haitian cuisine. The staff is very friendly and will explain what something is if you dont know. I highly recommend their red rice and beans and fried fish. If you like a little spice, ask for a side of pikliz. It's delicious. While visiting another establishment in Rockland County I decided to try Fancy buffet. They have a weigh & carry out option. I've heard so much about Haitian black rice, but there aren't many Haitian restaurants in my area that I am aware of. They have two locations, Haverstraw and Spring Valley. I went and grabbed a container and added a sample amount of various items. Everything was good including the black rice. It's dark because it's made with a certain type of mushroom. They had a lot of options. Maybe 15 to 20. Everything was decent, and if I find myself in the area again I would visit. It cost about $11-12. read more

Ripoff Alert- Plate Weight and Tax This place tried to rip me off twice on my first visit. First- they sell food by weight on heavy plates, they weighed my order without subtracting my plate weight. It's hot outside and the place had it's front door open and the air conditioning was off. The place was very dimly lit and very dingy inside. Also, it was the middle of lunch and the place was absolutely empty besides being oppressively hot. I drove a couple of miles to get there because I was in the mood for Haitian food and their website advertised a $15.00 buffet. Well that was wrong because apparently they had also not updated their website in who knows how long. Everything was supposed to be placed into Styrofoam containers and weighed and the price per ounce not inexpensive. I love the fact that I can actually get some home grown food whenever I come around this area, because their is no Caribbean/Haitian food restaurant near me what so ever. I am willing to travel half an hour to get some food made from my culture. I'm sorry to be bias but nothing comes close to Haitian food in my opinion. I personally think the place should be lit up a little more than the dark they present but besides that I can't complain l. Great food but the service can be a little better, I placed a catering order for an 11am pick up when they open the store and no one was there to open up the door. I had to call their other location to find out the ETA for when their going to open up the doors. Theirs no excuse for opening late, but that's what you get at times from old fashion peoples. Most definitely a spot I will always recommend to anyone who ask. read more
