On my second visit, we tried a few more things. Callaloo, goat curry, jerk chicken...and we got the oxtail again. The goat was tasty, but did have a bit of goatness to it. If you don't like any gamey flavor in your meat, maybe it's not for you. The jerk chicken was delicious - so flavorful, just like the jerk pork, but I did like the jerk pork a bit more. Callaloo was ok, but more potatoes and bread I find vs veggie. I really just wanted a lot of greens. The flavors were good though. Oxtail was consistent like last time and excellent. Yum! I can have Jamaican food every single day! Was craving for some oxtail and this place delivered! Fall off the bone good oxtail. It went perfectly with the rice and bean. It was ahhh--mazing! My first experience with this restaurant is that I was honestly looking for a Jamaican restaurant I didn't realize that this was actually Haitian restaurant. I was not upset though because being able to see it establishment and how they do everything it was a good experience their establishment is small but, I will have to go back to be able to try the menu again because I usually like to be able to make sure my research is correct when I'm trying a new restaurant. For my review and my first experience I'm going to give a four star rating the food was really good and the company was nice but I will need to be able to try their specials when I go back again. The food was very fresh though I wish there was more of a bigger portion when it came to the goat portion of my meal but this was actually still a good experience. Curry goat, curry chicken, jerk chicken, BBQ chicken, goats head soup and of course ox tail! Each dish comes with rice and beans or white rice served with his to die for raw cabbage salad and fried plantains. Great prices. Three different sizes. Food runs out quickly daily usually around 7-8 pm most of the good stuff runs out. He's got the authentic Jamaican sodas and juices and a small bar too for some beer or wine. Just found this place and had the jerk chicken and curry chicken. They were really good. We got pretty generous portions and the food was delicious. There seem to be limited dishes though in what they offer - about 5-6 dishes at lunchtime. This is probably due to Covid. The restaurant is spotlessly clean - the floors were gleaming and it has a very nice appearance. It doesn't look as though people are sitting inside though. I hate to be THAT PERSON that goes against what everyone else thinks, but having lived in Jamaica for 7 years, I'm very picky when it comes to Jamaican food. The food itself I would give 4 1/2 stars. We ordered the jerk chicken and the ox tail which both came with rice and peas and vegetable (looks like Cole slaw but Jamaicans just call it vegetable). The jerk chicken was pretty true to what I expected. It was pretty hot if you don't love spice, but for those who eat jerk, it definitely wasn't the hottest ever experienced. The ox tail was very good but not quite as much meat as you would hope. I imagine it's hard to get good cuts of ox tail in Rockland county. Where they lose a half-star is the rice and peas. There just wasn't as much flavor as I was hoping for. Jamaica rice and peas is notorious for being made with coconut milk and having a sweet after-taste. The rice and peas was very good but didn't give me the sweetness that it should have. The reason I bumped them down to 4 stars was the overall experience. The food seems to be made in the morning and then kept in a buffet-type set of warmers all day. Since we stopped by around dinner time, the food was basically cold and had probably been sitting all day. Also because of this, once the food is gone, it's gone. So when we arrived they only had one small ox tail left, jerk pork or chicken, and curry goat. That's it. I was hoping to get either fried chicken or curry chicken, neither or which they had. While I understand it would be hard to make things on demand, they should at least have fried chicken. So they only get 4 stars from me because of that. That said, I was looking for something different for lunch today and found the perfect oasis called Tropical Delicacy. I now work in the area and have driven past this place many times without notice. Let me tell you this...the understated exterior belies its contents. The contents being tasty and delicious island food served up in a clean and friendly environment. After a call to see what was on the lunch menu, my colleague and I took the short ride there. I had curried chicken and Edwin had the ox tail. Both lunch plates came with the sides of rice and peas, cabbage and carrots and a few sweet plantains. I had a Ting with my lunch which was reasonably priced at $11. The food was outstanding! While eating, we looked at each other, without saying a word, nodded approvingly and gave a thumbs up. Without a doubt, this place will be added to the regular rotation since the pickings are slim in this neighborhood. One thing to note...be prepared to wait if you head over there at around 12:30 for takeout because the line stretches from the cash register to the door. Aside from the wait (the only reason I gave four stars), there's absolutely no downside to eating here so head down to my newly discovered oasis in the desert, which I call Spring Valley, as soon as you can. read more

So the food is great and no complaints about the quality, but I have been noticing when I ask for a large plate of rice and peas with either oxtail, curry chicken, etc, he's been giving me medium portions. The only reason why I know is because when the woman serves me, she gives me the large plate. When Junior does it, it's the smaller plate but charges me for the Large. I also notice the difference when other people he may be familiar with order it, it's usually the Large portion. Other than that, food is great, but because of it, I can only give a 4. Came based on the reviews, their was a line for lunch so I can see how popular it is. It is defiantly a "hole in the wall" yet the atmosphere was inviting, tables clean and service was friendly. We ordered jerk chicken, beans and rice that came with raw cabbage salad and fried plantain. The large portion was 14$. The jerk chicken was spicy, I enjoyed it! Rice and beans was also pretty good, I personally think there could have been more flavor in the jerk chicken rather than just heat as an aftertaste.
