Visited Faneuil Hall in December 2018 with my family and liked walking in the same footsteps as our Founding Fathers. The Faneuil Hall is a mix of history and gift shops/souvenir stores. They have tours and docents but none when we were there so it was just a self guided tour. Walking through the Hall is free. There are some great photos ops outside with the statue of Samuel Adam. Behind Faneuil Hall is the marketplace where you'll find tons of restaurants, snack bars, and shops. read more

I visited Boston for three days and this has to be one of my favorite spots! Faneuil Hall allows you experience both history and modernity in one visit. Faneuil Hall served as the marketplace in Boston during the colonial times, and continued to serve the same purpose today. Inside Faneuil Hall itself are shops on the first level and the grand hall plus a museum on the top level (Free admission, I must add). I unfortunately did not go to the museum, but I did go to the grand hall on the second level and it was so beautiful! If you did go to Faneuil Hall, you have to visit the majestic grand hall upstairs. Behind Faneuil Hall is the Quincy Market, flaked by North and South Markets. Quincy Market hosts food shops, including my beloved Boston Chowda Co. and an exhibition hall upstairs. You eat your food within the indoors center dome of the Quincy Market, which was a pretty cool experience. The flaking markets have souvenir shops, restaurants, pubs, and modern stores (A&F and H&M, baby!). Faneuil Hall is great to visit if you want sightseeing, food, or shopping! You can easily reach there via State Station of the blue line subway. read more

Upstairs from the Faneuil Hall Marketplace lies the Faneuil Hall. This hall is an historic meeting hall where great matters about liberty, freedom, justice, and the American way were debated and articulated. It dates back to colonial days, when great thinkers and eventual signers of the Declaration of Independence formed their ideas about what constitutes the Constitution! To get here, you have to find the poorly marked exterior door of the hall, on the opposite side from Sam Adams' statue. Then climb a steep staircase to get to the meeting hall. It's a beautifully made meeting hall, that still allows speakers to come out and preach whatever is on their mind. It's a brilliant testament to the Freedom of Speech that we enjoy today. They'll let you speak without regard to the popularity of your cause, which I think is amazing. The hall has guided tours with a knowledgeable park ranger who explains the significance of the building. His lecture takes less than half an hour. Be sure to check out the big clock that is above your head as you enter. The painting behind the lectern is amazing, and closely depicts the historical value of the building. read more

if you visit Boston you have to see the hall..a great vibe, tons of history , good food and shopping. theres always outside entertainment, fun for adults and kids. can be a little pricey depending on where you eat / drink but so what, it will be worth it =) if you have the $ go for a carriage ride, $40 for 20 minutes. its relaxing and you get brief overview on the history of Boston. plus its always fun to pet the horses and take pics with them. for visiting i really suggest taking a train in or cab (more expensive) ..the traffic is a bit much and the parking sucks so..if you find a garage it can also be expensive. Go visit and have a beer at Cheers! i promise you will love it! read more

AT and I made it to Faneuil Hall during our stroll on the Freedom Trail in Boston. Reading through the reviews now, I realize that we just hung out on the first floor, the most touristy part. We admired the Samuel Adams statue outside and the building itself (with its iconic grasshopper weathervane) and its role in the history of the American Revolution. We walked throughout the marketplace and did not buy anything. Now that we have a little dude, I am excited to come back to Boston and discover more of Faneuil Hall. It seems that more of the city's and country's history can be learned upstairs. The meeting house and military museum are also found if one travels up. I miss New England tons for all the historic places that are still standing and in use today. Boston is a great city to see colonial architecture and learn about America's fight for independence. Faneuil hall has been a meeting place for a long time, going back to our pre-revolutionary days. Here is where Samuel Adams, (the founding father, not the beer) spoke and encouraged the idea that the colonies should break from England. We took a little walking/talking tour to get the insights on the history. Now, there is the Faneuil Hall Marketplace, so once again it is a meeting place, but now full of tourists looking for their vacation memorabilia, rather than sharing the ideals of a new nation, conceived in liberty and justice for all. read more

I came here to serve as the interpreter for my mother during her US citizenship swearing in ceremony. I do have to say the entire interior from the statues and steps leading into the Assembly Room were pristine and well maintained. The Assembly Room was also filled with many statue busts and elaborate paintings of famous historical figures around during the foundation of this country. Overall, the environment and setting as a historical site does lend itself to serving as a nice backdrop for getting sworn in as US citizen. read more

This is THE place to get your Boston souvenirs for your friends and family (or for yourself as well). I found the prices to be reasonable--10 or more dollars depending on the item. There were several shops in this building--including some food options. You can also pick up several free Boston maps here (Freedom Trail FTW--follow the red brick road). It can get a little crowded here at times, but it's definitely a stop you need to make when you're in town. History buffs will love this place. read more

Faneuil Hall (pronounced Fanooey) is pretty much the most famous building in Boston. The old hall has been around for hundreds of years, which by American standards makes it positively ancient. One of our stops as we walked along the entire freedom trail was Faneuil Hall. I purchased a Boston shot glass to add to my collection of shot glasses as well as some souvenirs including a little copper pencil sharpener that was shaped like a canon for my older son. It's like a little mini mall with small shops. Each has their own types of items from toys, to stationary, art, clothing, as well as candy. The cashiers were friendly and the items weren't drastically overpriced like they are in some gift shops. There were a couple of cool paintings and I also saw a manequin on display wearing a dress entirely made of vitamin water labels and bottles. It was a little crowded but not overbearingly. I was able to grab a few items quickly and continue my way down the freedom trail. read more

Faneuil Hall has a National Park Service Visitor Center inside on the first floor, where you can get information, maps, and sign up for a free tour of the Freedom Trail. There are also several little souvenir shops and the like. The historic Great Hall is on the second floor, where you can walk around and take a look at the architecture and space. Staff is present to answer questions. There is also a small room off to the side of the hallway, which has some signage about the hall. The fourth floor houses the Ancient and Honorable Military Museum, which is free to visit. A variety of events take place in the Faneuil area, and it is a central part of the marketplace, along with neighboring Quincy, North, and South markets. Good stop! read more

Also seen them putting up a large Christmas tree that prior to Christmas which I'm sure would be beautiful. Wandering Faneuil Hall is one of my favorite things to do in Boston. What I love most about the area is the stark dichotomy between the old and the new of Boston. This balance of past and present is one of the main reason I moved to the city, and Faneuil Hall is all of that in a nutshell. I bring my family and friends here every time they come to visit. There's great shopping in the area, but there's also an immense amount of history that we always enjoy. It's location is pretty phenomenal, too; you have the North End a quick walk away, and the seaport is right down the street! If you're looking for something to do in Boston but don't know much about the city, this is the first place you should check out. This is one of the stops that should be made on a trip. The outdoor square has performers and the 1st floor has eateries and souvenir shops that offer quality, variety and fair prices. The 2nd floor has history of the hall and the revolutionary war. There are spokespeople giving lectures every half hour and will answer any questions about the history. There are large portraits and busts inside. The 4th floor is the military museum but it is closed on the weekends. This facility can also be rented for events. This is on the trolley tour or the Freedom Trail walk. This is in downtown but only a 10 minute safe walk back to Beacon Hill. read more

This is a great place to come visit if you're going into Boston. I have a lot of international friends and my friends from Norway and Canada were both shown Faneuil Hall when they visited and loved it. It has lots of little gift shops and restaurants for shopping and dining. On a sunny day, there's nothing like exploring the area with a good breeze following you. There's a lot of History surrounding the area and you'll frequently see tour guides where there are people dressed in Victorian aged garments telling stories and the history of Boston to onlookers. Definitely stop by the National Park booth to sign-up for one of their FREE tours of the Freedom Trail. The docents are incredible. I would have spent all day with them if I could! The upstairs has the historical meeting rooms and downstairs houses shops with souvenirs and some snack shops (it was a mini mall in the old days, too). It's free to go upstairs, so just pop up and see what it's all about. Faneuil Marketplace is the shopping area just outside. It's touristy, but not a tourist "trap" as some have said. It has a lot of souvenir and touristy shops (and restaurants) but you aren't required to pay to go in and if you're surprised at what you find there, then you don't get out much. There are also shops that you'd fine in most American malls (Abercrombie). It's fine for a walk through and if you find something you like, then good for you. read more

The area of faneuil hall and quincy market is very cool to walk around and see historic parts of Boston. The first floor of the actual hall is very touristy, my party didn't want to look around any more than the first floor (I would think there was much more to see on the second floor). While the day of our visit was overcast and cold, I am told there are musicians and performers out front that make the place very lively. The cobblestones are a girl's worst nightmare if she were ever to wear heels there. I had a few trips looking around and didn't realize the ground was uneven. My own fault to the bemusement of those I was with. read more

The National Park Service does a great job preserving this important historical landmark. Definitely stay for the NPS presentation to understand the building's history. Fanuiel Hall and the long building behind it are old, historic buildings in Boston that have been renovated to be a really big mall food court. There is basically lots of food here but nothing special. Don't waste your time here. Go to Boston Public Market instead. read more

Or maybe come to Faneuil at night if you are looking for an all out party scene...Faneuil Hall and the Quincy Market area are a multipurpose area waiting to be explored. You won't find many locals here but no matter what your reason is for coming to this area, you will enjoy yourself and have a good time.
