Pork skins so fresh, they were still crackling! Delicious, piping hot food. The only problem with Fanny's is the service is very hit or miss. Having eaten here four times, it's incredibly inconsistent. I waited for 10 minutes without even being greeted by anyone- even though several workers walked right by at the hostess stand. As Tom Colicchio said "People come for the food, but come back for the hospitality." The latter part seems to be the issue here. With that said, as a faithful Lake Martin boater for over 10 years, many in the area seem to struggle similarly. Decor is super cute. read more

Went in to eat before a concert. The hostess looked completely confused when we asked to be seated. She stood there with her mouth open and rolled her eyes. Then asked if we wanted to be seated "inside or out?" since there were several empty tables visible inside we replied "inside". She just stared at us so I changed out answer to "first available". She grabbed 2 menus and said "find a seat outside". We found the only empty table outside that happened to be next to people we knew. After 15 minutes of no acknowledgement by wait staff and being eaten by mosquitos we went to find a server. We attempted 2 additional times in the next 10 minutes. I even went to the bar to try to order and get waters. The bar tender did send out a server that took our order but never brought us water. We finally went back to the bar to get our water after sitting 30 mins.. We saw the first meals come out and that was the only table with food. The entire porch began reacting. Everyone was assured their food was coming. We realized only one table on the porch had food, we started to investigate. The people next us had been there 30 minutes longer than us, had empty glasses but said that they had not seen any food come out and have not seen a server in over 30 min. We finally decided we needed to leave order to make the concert and cancelled our order although we aren't sure it was ever put in. The bar tender was the only person that seemed to be helping customers. While I was on one of my trios to get water a "waitress" said they want a "ping-something" and held up her pad. Super cute spot with great vibes! The smash burger was delicious--loved all the extra toppings. It's exactly what you'd expect from a casual bar-style menu: quick, tasty, and satisfying. That said, I do wish there were a few more health-conscious options like grilled proteins, fresh salads, or even a soup or two. It would be awesome to see a bit more variety for those looking to eat a little cleaner. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. A friend actually took me here for lunch today because he lives in this area. I had never been here but it was a total mindblowing experience. The food was super perfect and very unique with zero boring flavor. It all tasted great. My review each time is about the service more so than the food though. The service here was actually above perfect and the whole vibe and atmosphere in here was so comforting. The whole place was comfortable and clean and every single one of the servers were wonderful. Such a great place and I recommend that even if your on HWY 280 and hungry, take the off road drive that's the several extra minutes to drive all the way to this place for breakfast or lunch or dinner. The area was clean, but to start with a chipped glass, crab dip was bad, bad as in sick bad. My flounder was ordered grilled, just because you spread buttered herbs on top doesn't mean it's grilled. Sent it back to be grilled again....still cool to the touch, still undercooked. I will say the young girl did a good job on correcting the issue with the glass, trying to get the"cook" to grill the flounder. I will not go back. Could do better with the "cooks" on the grill. read more

The atmosphere is amazing and I haven't had anything on the menu that I didn't like. The smash burger comes highly recommended by me. I know a lot of the younger staff personally and I appreciate the fact that they are out working and learning the value of a dollar. Today though, and the reason for giving only 4 stars, I overheard a member of management yelling at the kitchen staff for a little mix up on the order placed by someone a few customers in front of me. I have worked for 3 years at a very busy and very popular Lake Martin restaurant and I have never spoken to anyone or heard a member of management speak to anyone like this lady was speaking to her staff today. Mistakes happen but it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed easily. Yelling at the staff is unacceptable and not the way to keep good staff, which is hard to come by these days. HR: Listen closely to the staff's complaints because they are legit and need to be addressed. read more
