Decided to stop by here during our weekend antiquing while visiting our son at Mayport Naval Base. They do have parking on the grass inside the gate of the church in which they reside. We were greeted upon entry and thanked for stopping by upon leaving. The place is not as big as what we are used to and does have a varying collection of items; however, a lot of the booths were a tight fit and hard to see everything they had to offer. Unfortunately, we did not find that had to have item and due to the size, we probably will not be returning due to the distance from our home. Nicely laid out, easy to walk through with wide aisles, and most items in cases so you get a great view. We found some very nice Art Deco pieces, some beautiful, very old medicine, bottles, and exquisite paperweights. This store is probably the best "antiques" store we have found in the Jacksonville area, well worth spending several hours exploring.. read more

My family and I checked out this lovely antique store which is located in Historic Five Points District in the Riverside Neighborhood of Jacksonville FL, and I have to say that it was a very lovely place with lots of different kinds of items such as vintage toys, cloths, nick knacks, books, and everything else under the rainbow. I also love the story on how the store got its name, when it originally opened it was a store that sold only fans and stoves like The Home Depot type store but when the big-time stores started popping up, they couldn't compete so when it finally became an antique store the new owners just kept the original name which was Fans and Stoves. Decent antique mall that offers a host of antique & vintage items. Not much in the way of quality antiques & vintage furniture, but just about everything else. (Lots of inexpensive trinkets are here as well, so there's something in everyone's price range.) It's always worth a look whenever I'm in the area. I am shocked to see that I have not reviewed this place before now. I've been coming here for almost 20 years, both to the old location and now the new (right around the corner). We cannot come to 5 Points in the daytime and not stick our head in. This new location has wider aisles (easier to navigate) but kept it's labyrinth feeling from before. F&S is what I judge all other antique malls on. The prices range from "OMG it's so cheap" to "OMG that is the most expensive thing ever." In other words, it's prices are for EVERY budget. You never know what you'll find when you step through the doors of this shop. It's crazy huge and there are items as far as the eye can see. There are so many antiques from different eras that it's almost mind-boggling. I love to pop in here from time to time when we are in Five Points. I love seeing so many items from my childhood which bring back so many fond memories. It was only $15, but it wasn't something I needed. It was just a nostalgia thing. I remember my aunt carrying one around everywhere she went back when I was a kid. I even have a photo of me on the beach when I was about 4 years old and her "basket" purse is sitting right beside me. Fond memories indeed! All kinds of collectibles can be found here from dishes, dolls, lunch boxes, etc. There's jewelry and art. They have tons of albums and even old Atari games. I even saw a dress mannequin here. This may be the most popular antique store in the area it certainly is filled to capacity no it's filled beyond its capacity that alone makes it difficult to navigate. I am sure there are things here for everyone but I don't know if everyone has the patients to work through the layers to find the hidden treasures that are buried here. I found lots of expensive items balancing on the edge of disaster, just waiting for a nudge to come crashing to the floor I didn't notice any signage stating "you break it you buy it" but I'm sure that's the case. I know I will be back because there's so much I just need to weigh the risk verses the reward. I felt as if I was walking through a mine field it was a little stressful less would be much more enjoyable in this case. It's pretty awesome aside from that. read more

Love this type of place! So much stuff crammed in to each booth area, lots to look at. It's not as clean as some places and we didn't see a public bathroom but staff had masks as did most customers. Large jewelry section near the register. Other booths had nostalgic items, kitchen ware, dishes, random dolls and stuffed animals. We purchased a cute birdhouse shaped like a camper and a beaded necklace. Would definitely stop back. read more

After a late lunch @ Hawkers, we strolled over to Fans & Stoves Antique Mall to check it out and see what we could find. What a neat little store in the heart of Five Points! When you step into this place, you feel like you have stepped back in time! The "antique" store is packed full of nifty finds from many eras & what is actually estate items kept neatly together on display for customers to peruse at their will. The store is well organized considering how many items are on display for sale. For the person who doesn't like "crowded spaces" -- it can be a little mind numbing. I don't mind so much and love any thrift or second hand store that offers interesting and hard to find merchandise. You can literally stay in this store for hours and will be sure to find something to take home with you. The prices are very reasonable and the owner is extremely pleasant. We left with a pair of 80's sunglasses "Don Johnson-style" for just three bucks! How cool is that? Score! Will definitely be back.... read more

The moment I walked in I was greeted by the staff. They were very friendly and asked if I was looking for something in particular. Here's a pro tip, let them help you. They know the inventory like the back of their hand. If they have it, they'll find it for you. If they don't, the alternatives are going to be cool as hell. If you do want to just wander around there are plenty of aisles to explore. I can't even talk about the variety of stuff because it was so vast. Unique and different are the two descriptors that keep coming to mind. It's worth checking out if you have the time to dive into the craziness. All the times I've been to 5 Points I kept saying "I should check out this store" and never did. Then they moved and I forgot about going. Not today. They only moved around the corner next to Urban Corner Asian Fusion so it isn't far from the other antique shop if you aren't done shopping. I headed over to check it out. Wow, while I hadn't been in the original shop I like how it's laid out. It's more spacious and everything is organized. I spent a good 45 minutes walking around looking at everything they had. I wasn't looking for anything in particular but I found some items that would go well in my kitchen since it was mostly decorated in strawberries. A casserole dish, and entire dinnerware set, salt and pepper shakers, a pitcher. Unfortunately, I didn't buy any of it. I was just looking and had no intention on buying anything right now. But now they I know what they have and the prices are reasonable, I'll definitely be back. read more

Creep Factor: 9 This place was raved about by someone I knew in passing. She said they had really cheap antiques here. Since then, I've been curious to see this place. After reading reviews and making assumptions, I came here and was impressed and creep ed out a bit. Some of the areas were very pleasant. I love antiques and the stories behind them. The prices ranged from good to maybe a little pricey. There were some areas in the store that went up high in the creep factor - heavy icky feeling. Maybe it was the dust or the weird objects. My friend picked up a gold skull and said it reminded her of my flaming hot pink glitter skull named "daddy". She gave it to me and I got the chills and didn't like it immediately. The next day I had a dream of that gold skull. They also have a doll area bulging with dolls everywhere. Scared my friend to the dickens. We had some laughs there. Later on , she said that she also got the creeps in the antique store, and she felt something from there followed her home. Bah ha ha ha ha..... With a place full of wonderful antiques, I thought I would find something I never did. I picked up a cute rabbit necklace but I decided against buying it when I saw a missing stone. This is a good place for an antique collector or someone who likes browsing antiques. If you are into psychometry or a sensitive, you might find this place amusing as well. read more

When walking into an antique mall, my anxiety always spikes up looking at the amount of stuff there is to go through. I pop in my headphones, breathe, and take to the task at hand. This place is certainly using up 90% of the space it has available. While the walkways in most areas are wide enough for two to pass each other, they do get a bit narrow in some areas. While I personally didn't find much I was interested in that day, they certainly had a bit of everything. War/military memorabilia, antique kitchenware, Christmas decor, jewelry, a small amount of furniture, books/media, and tons of knickknacks. Parking was decent midday during the week. Ahhh this place brought me back to my childhood. Atari, Sega Genesis and comic books all wrapped up in their nice wrapper. Good times can be had in this store. This store is what an antique store should be about. Its messy but it is a controlled mess. You can find thing easily and if you don't pay attention, you can spend hours in this store. Walking into this place is like walking into a memory... someone else's memory. There is so much... STUFF. Everywhere you look, shelves are piled high with little trinkets, as much as your mind can imagine, as far as the eyes can see. And it is awesome. If you want a tiny little stuffed animal from the 50's... you can find it here. Or, if you want some colored glass vases, they have every shade in every shape. Want some old fiesta ware, the kind painted with lead paint that can't be used for cooking [but is oh so pretty to look at]? Yes, they have your picking. Gaudy costume jewelry? Cases full. Christmas ornaments? A gazillion. Salt and Pepper shakers? Stashed into every nook and cranny in the place. Vintage vinyl? You bet. Exorbitantly fancy clothing that its hard to imagine anyone ever wearing? Wracks of them. My wife and I were in Jacksonville visiting family and we love to go junk store shopping. This place had everything! Pretty reasonable prices. I guess Jacksonville isn't much of a tourist town, so it's understandable that the prices aren't hiked up, but it is refreshing. We found a great bunch of old sci-fi novels for $0.50 and some nice earrings for gifts for her friends. The staff was super friendly. We even overheard them contacting a seller for another customer so that they negotiate the price on a light fixture. Very nicely laid out as well, it was easy to get around and see all the cool odds and ends. TL;DR: Affordable junk store with a good selection and nice staff. read more

I find pieces to the China patterns that I collect. I enjoy that everything is shiny clean and not Dusty. This is a pleasurable Leisure outing for anyone who loves collectibles and vintage. Happy Find- I ended up parking right in front, intending on shopping around the corner. Popped in for some exploring. Clean- warehouse feel, with lots of cases and booths full of antique treasures. Some things felt pricey, while other things were fair and bargains. Guess that depended on the booth. I liked that you didn't feel crowded in this Antique Mall- some booths were stuffed full- but the aisles were spacious enough for a walker. It wasn't crowded when I was in- which made for getting lost while trying to see everything. I will surely be back again soon! read more

This place is crazy. In a good way. We were trying to kill some time while hanging around 5 Points, and this gem of a shop definitely helped us do that. I felt like I was in a Hoarder's fantasy. It was a little chaotic but every now & then you would stumble into a booth with some really neat finds. One of my favorite places I found during my two months in Jacksonville... I love this store! I think I must have gone in at least once every weekend during my stay. Fans & Stoves is a collector's delight. And when I say collector, you know who you are. I myself collect many things including owls (of any kind, type, or make, I do not discriminate!), tin toys made in the 1940's-50's, dolls w/big heads & eyes & little bodies from the 1960's-70's, and RW Berries Sillisculpts just to name a few... and Fans & Stoves did not disappoint any of my needs. The shop is very large, encompassing several rooms, but somehow still manages to feel cozy. Due to their lack it seems of any heating system, on cold days they offer complimentary coffee & hot cocoa to sip as you peruse the various vendor's wares. Questions? Ask away. During one particular visit I was searching for something, anything at all really, that had to do with Winston Churchill for my Dad's birthday (my Dad happens to be Winston's # 1 fan, he even belongs to a Winston Churchill society!). I finally asked for assistance and was shown a small British doll made in Churchill's likeness from what appeared to be some time in the 1950's. I had no idea whether or not it would be something that would interest my Dad but I purchased it anyway. Low & behold, I got a call a week after I had sent it from my Dad who was flabbergasted that I, the unimaginative daughter who usually gave socks, ties, or aftershave to my Dad, found such an item. Who knew? Apparently it's being brought to the society's next meeting for their version of a show & tell of sorts, I kid you not! Whatever it is you're looking for, I have a pretty good idea you may just find it at Fans & Stoves. I've been drawn to this corner for decades. Back in high school, I'd wander about. Even now, I find myself perusing the jam packed aisles for bits of history, the flotsam and jetsam of people's lives and the unusual find that no box or department store could offer. Several items from Fans & Stoves grace my home and teenaged children are similarly drawn here like moths to a flame. May Five Points never lose this mall, the only mall I will eagerly visit for no apparent reason other than to just look and see what small treasures I might unearth. read more

Claustrophobics, beware! Fans and Stoves is packed from floor to ceiling with a plethora of interesting junk. What I like about this antique store is that it isn't pretentious and feels more like a high-end garage sale. They have everything, soup to nuts, you could want from an antique mall, except large pieces of furniture. Things are piled into cases and on shelves, so if you are carrying a large purse, take caution as you navigate, or else you'll knock merchandise to the floor. Then everyone will look at you. The things I like best in here are the great clutch purses and the funky costume jewelry. The prices are reasonable. The thing I don't like is that they have pieces that were actually reproduced antiques and not the real deal. Takes away that uniqueness and authenticity factor. If you know someone who likes knick-knacks and chotskies, you should buy their next birthday present here. I wouldn't recommend it for serious collectors, but it's definitely fun to dig around. read more

This place is pretty neat! Now I do need to give you guys a word of warning, the store is not as advertised. There aren't any fans or stoves to be found anywhere in the place. Basically it's a shop filled with old stuff that you buy and take home. So imagine my surprise when I drive halfway across town in RUSH HOUR on a Friday to find an indoor junkyard! Guess what, my house is still hot and my food is still cold! You guys really screwed the pooch on this one. This is an odd place. First of all, I saw no fans or stoves. Secondly, it seemed as though this antique mall took itself a bit too seriously. Prices were above what we saw in other antique malls in the area, and I didn't find anything I would pay that much for. My chosen era is mid-century modern, and there was a bit of that. Fabulous antique/hand-me-down/junk store in 5 points! I decided to do Christmas on a theme this year and get everyone antiques, and I'll probably do 90% of my shopping at Fans & Stoves. From the classic to the kooky, they have a bit of everything and thumbing through this store can take upwards of a whole afternoon so I'd eat beforehand. The prices vary widely, from $4 earrings and $5 ceramics to $200 stained-glass lighting fixtures. Need pill-box hats? Fans & Stoves. A hand-painted Alice in Wonderland hutch? That's here too. The ladies who work here are all friendly and conversational, eating lunch as they laugh about the merchandise and unique pricing choices (how much is $22ish?) Last time I was here I scored a wooden picture with a neon peacock embroidered on it. Sweet, that's going over my bed. Also snagged a southwestern-style leather fanny pack for $8. Woo hoo! Overall the store feels more like a massive yard sale than a stuffy antique mart, and as someone who loves gold jewelry, floral patterns, and grandma-fabulous housewares, this is the perfect spot for me. read more

It's amazing what you can find in Fans & Stoves! And the staff is so helpful. For the first time ever I found exactly what I needed on the first try! They had a beautiful glass punch bowl complete with glasses and a ladle for only $32! The women at the register took extra care wrapping each piece perfectly and packing it up for me. read more

What a fun place and the workers are all having fun. You can tell everyone that has shopped there for years loves being there and are all on first name bases with one another however they make you feel just as welcome. So many different booths with many different types of items. My favorite being glass which is not a strong point for them but new pieces arrive all the time so it keeps you looking through the entire place for a while. There is lots here, and that's an understatement. If you're looking for something particular, be prepared to spend some time. There is a very wide variety of items. There are many booths, some of them great, others not so much. A very wide variety of goods. The downside to this place is that because there is so much jammed into the spaces, it can be hard to pass through spaces safely without knocking something over. Many of the booths could use a good house cleaning. We have shopped here before and always find something but there are other malls that are less cluttered and cleaner that I choose to shop at first. read more
