I had to turn to yelp to find out what kind of fun things do people have at first birthdays. With stellar reviews, I decided to contact Aloha Glitter Tattoos. Marilyn was so helpful with the process of deciding the services and how many to order for the amount of people that we were having. I had estimated 350 people (230 probably showed up) so I made sure that I ordered enough so that there wouldn't be long lines. I wanted the typical stuff. Popcorn, cotton candy, and glitter tattoos. Then my husband wanted balloon animals. I kind of didn't want any from the previous not so great comment about the balloon animals but, what did it matter for an difference of $60 bucks to add on to the entire package for 4 hours? I reserved the services way in advanced and at times I forgot how much balance I had to pay because you don't get any paperwork on the services you order or total. They remember all of that. So, just make sure you write it down somewhere. If not, you can be like me and bug Marilyn all the time. She never seemed irritated with me. A couple days before the party, Carmella (I think if I remember right) contacted me to review the services for the party and reminded me of the amount of tables and chairs they needed. On the party day, Carmella introduced herself to me and my husband and they found the best place to set up. My husband had to break the news to me that the cotton candy machine was out of service, so they replaced that service with face painting and henna tattoo's. I know my dad really wanted cotton candy but... to my surprise... My dad got two face paintings (one side a butterfly and the other a centipede) and I swear neck paintings. LOL. At first nobody was really in the area and I thought it was because it was in a weird spot but, once my dad started and all the kids seen the work, they got in line too. It was sort of a blessing that the cotton candy machine was broken. I thought it was going to be weird to have face painting and henna tattoos. It totally wasn't. You need to get this. All the prices are totally reasonable. If you are looking for a kid friendly party, you need to hire these guys! Even when they left, Carmella and the gang (looked like young kids) came up and each said thank you to my husband and I. I thought that was very nice of them. Something you don't see often. So, even though they made simple balloons, the little kids get amazed by anything. And that was all that mattered to me. I really didn't see many balloon animals. I think I only seen a flower and some swords LOL but that was because the flower was in my car and kids were playing sword fight. I received a lot of compliments on the way our party was so kid friendly. Don't get me wrong though, the parents got some work done too!

No airbrushing involved! Each tattoo starts with a new stencil which sticks to the skin with adhesive. Glue is then applied and the glitter is painted on. After the stencil is peeled off (and discarded), the rhinestones are applied and set. We went to a party with Aloha Glitter Tattoos and the kids absolutely loved their tattoos! Some of them got one on each arm AND each leg!! The boys got dragons and UH warriors tattoos and the girls got all kinds of cute flowers and cupcakes with rhinestones! The tattoos are supposed to last 7 days but I'm sure my daughter will try to make it last 2 weeks. She loves tattoos. She loves glitter tattoos. We had maybe about 15-18 kids Face painted in 2 hours. I would highly recommend and would book her again. If you have a big party more then 20 faces to paint I suggest you hire a couple face paint artist or hire for more then 2 hours. Make sure there is adequate shade for the artist. I had a 20x30 tent with alot of room and thought that be good enough but the sun was moving in on her work area towards end time. She just so happened to be next to the vendor and heard her tell him to "go get your mommy". Instead of showing him the balloon folder of what she could make, she just refused to make him a balloon. My friend went over to help him pick one from the folder of pictures . **I don't understand why she couldn't just show him the balloon folder to begin with... maybe she just didn't want to deal with him. AGAIN, there was no line. ** 3. My daughter has a whole lot to say about the balloon lady. She kept saying how rude she was... We booked this 6 months out and were most excited for this vendor. Tiki had an impressive body of work and we were impressed. In the months leading up to the party Tiki was very responsive. When reaching out to confirm how I can make the final payment he casually said Ken will be able to accept it. I asked who Ken was and he informed me that he was sorry for the mix up and he's mostly retired and Ken his son takes his gigs now. This was disappointing to hear, but two days out we tried to make the best of it. Tiki apologized and drew a photo of the birthday boy remotely to make up for it which we appreciated. On the day of Ken was very nice, showed up on time. He forgot a power strip, but fortunately the venue had one. Not sure what the work around would have been if they did not. He set up and got to work. Right away we noticed it took much longer per photo than expected. Most folks including us sat for 10-15 minutes. Much longer than the expected 3-5 minutes. A couple of days after the party we received the digital gallery link from Ken, and unfortunately for the whole party with a constant wait, only 11 people got pictures. Additionally when looking at how Digitoons sets up in Yelp reviews, they put up a sign or banner advertising it. Unfortunately they did not for this, so it got around by word of mouth really. In the end it was a fun addition to the party, but felt a little like a like a bait and switch. We booked based on the quality of work that Tiki provided and while Ken is a very nice guy his art isn't up to par with his Dad. The Digitoons website in its entirety speaks about Tiki, not once does it mention anything else. I don't think they intentionally tried to bamboozle us, they seem like great people. We just didn't get what we paid for and only found out a few days before the party. Tiki informed me that his rate would have been much higher for himself, but that's not what's advertised on his site.
