Also, and this is very much an aside, Jessica Yaniv's swim doesn't seem to be that bad? Admittedly I've only read the one article (link below), but it looks like she was trying to organize a body positivity swim that was top-optional, which is already the case in public pools. She seems to just have wanted the focus on the swim to be for body positivity so that trans people could feel safe and wanted. I've been to a few of the skinnydipper swims and it was super tame. Just a bunch of folks hanging out at the pool without clothes on, and everyone was polite and friendly. Only a few kids would show up and they were absolutely with their parents. It wasn't a big deal. In fact, the whole point seemed to be that it wasn't a big deal. Most of the folks there were long-time naturists. There were some displays where you can interact with the lighting decorations or animatronics if you have one of those magic wands they sell. I walked through the sceneries more than once when I was there just because they are so gorgeous to look at. There is also a live concert, food trucks, a market section sponsored by other businesses, and an indoor train ride, which I had the pleasure of riding in. I highly recommend going to the Glow Gardens before Christmas is over.

Psychedelic neon lights may induce seizures, and loud music may make you go deaf. There are some obstacle course activities and climbing challenges for the more adventurous. There's even a foam pit you can jump into if you don't care too much about germs. Staff were not exactly charismatic or enthusiastic about working there. That said, they tried their best to prep the kids and relay terms of service and liabilities beforehand. I asked my kid if she'd like to go there again, and she said no. There were also children still wearing their shoes, and an adult who climbed the lava slide IN HER BARE FEET even though there's a big sign that says no bare feet and no adults. The lack of parental presence with some of the kids is also quite disappointing, as one girl was quite pushy with anyone who tried to get into a play structure with her. Also, people who exit/ enter the playground area aren't very careful, leaving the gates open on a few occasions that I noticed. (as my toddler tried making a beeline out of these gates). Pretty cool that they have laser tag here (for an additional fee that's cheaper when purchased the same day as your visit). Cubbies for your shoes and jacket, but no lockers for valuables. They say no outside food/drink, but it didn't seem strictly enforced, as there were tons of water bottles there. Free parking out front.

My 16-year-old Goth Girl rejoiced as I spied intricate leather masquerade masks, decorated hand-carved skulls, "monster" journals, spells, candles, and tons more. Several kids were having a ball trying on things and running around like mad. It's definitely a child's paradise in there - even though most of the items are on the expensive side (and rightfully so - they're more art than costumes or decorations, and most likely take a LONG time to make). Co-owner Sam (she and her husband own the shop) greeted us cheerfully, and really seemed to love what she was doing. "Nymbol" is apparently some kind of dragon puppet, and there was small stage area where he performs in the shop. In addition, they put on themed parties & events for kids AND adults + they offer classes on how to make the leather masks. All in all, I think this is pretty awesome, and I really really hope it makes it!
