She did an amazing job with my nails and I got a beautiful metallic blue manicure. It wasn't a polish or a powder, but it was a kind of tint that she put on with a plastic applicator. She told me that she could make it last and I think they look great. I'm not surprised that I had a great experience at Modern Spa and Chloe is always the nail tech that I trust the most. Received the confirmation text with booking time. When I arrived, they seemed a bit confused. Lilly was not there and Rachel did my nails instead. I will say that Rachel is very meticulous about the nail shape. She filed, cut, ground, filed, snipped, ground over and over and I could tell she cared a lot about the shape. Spent almost an hour and a half building and shaping. I only chimed in a few times when I got pinched particularly badly. I asked for ombre and she did a wonderful job with the nail art. I have no doubt that these will last me a month or more and stay beautiful so long as I dont need to have them removed. However, its clear to me now that my nails were extremely overworked, and that I should have been more vocal about the pain and the safety/hygiene of the tools being used, as the nail file and dremel being used to grind the nail and cuticle were dusty. When I looked at my nails that night after going out for the holiday, I was bleeding. Now, after realizing how torn up I was, and trying to keep my fingers clean and dry to heal, I am unfortunately swelling and there is even some puss. This was not the same experience I had my first time at this salon, and I am not sure if I got lucky the first time or unlucky this time. Maybe my fault for not insisting on waiting to have Lilly again, and not being more firm about the discomfort I experienced.

It was also very dark inside, so much so that the other customer stepped outside to get a better look at the colors she was deciding between. My technician was attentive and helpful, but I was overall disappointed with how the manicure came out. The gel clear coat was done a bit unevenly, not covering my full nail. I also would have liked more attention to my cuticles and to making the shape of my nails even. I would have still considered coming back again except that, not even two weeks out, my nails had chipped significantly, the polish peeling off the edges of multiple nails. I found the pricing to be as expected for the area. There was a $10 additional charge for gel removal, given that my previous manicure had been done elsewhere.
