That is unusual and goes against their stated insurance policy: We will bill your health insurer for services you received at your visit. These services include a consultation, plus (if needed after discussion with you) additional procedures such as a nasal endoscopy or a laryngoscopy. You may have a copay and/or deductible, which is payable at the time of your visit. Some insurers do not cover any services unless your deductible is met. Each insurer has its own fee schedule for services that its members receive from in-network doctors. After your insurer processes the claim for your visit, you will be sent a bill for the amount (if any) that your insurer determines is your responsibility. Any amounts you had paid at the time of your visit will be credited against your final bill.

I was looking for a new primary care doctor and saw good Google reviews for this practice. It was…read moreimportant to me to find a private practice. It was close to home so I was excited and hopeful that I had found a new doctor. A couple weeks ago I went in for an annual exam. My appointment was at 3:00. I arrived a few minutes early and sat in the waiting area. Around 3:30 I was called back. I was asked why I was there by the assistant. I felt it was strange this was not notated in my chart. Anyway, she checked my weight, oxygen and blood pressure (which registered extremely low) then sent back to the waiting area as there were no rooms available. About 20 minutes after that I was called back and the assistant was going to check my vitals. I told her that was already done so back to the waiting room I go. This office was definitely not impressing me at this point. Maybe five minutes after that, I get called back and I am put in a room. I waited until 4:30 until Dr. Uzo finally came in. During my long wait for the doctor I did consider just walking out. Dr. Uzo seemed nice and asked me some health questions. She addressed the low blood pressure (which after talking to my daughter, who is a nurse, said they used too big a cuff on me which is why it registered so low). Around 4:45, I was taken to have my blood drawn by the office manager. She printed the labels that were to be attached to the vials and handed them to me with no explanation. I asked what I was to do with them and then she tells me to verify my name was correct. It was a strange interaction. When she was finished with the draw, she said I could go to the front and make my next appointment. She left me sitting in the chair. So I lifted the arm rest myself to get out of the chair and found my way back to the front of the office to leave. It would have been nice to be walked out instead of just left sitting there. All in all, I was there for two hours for a simple blood draw. A friend thinks they forgot about me in the room and they realized I was there when I came out to use the restroom during my long wait for the doctor. Sadly, I will not be back and will continue my search for a new primary care doctor.
