I needed a hair cut and highlights badly. I have been going to the same stylist in San Francisco for 10 years but decided to take a chance on someone new because that's how in need I was. I booked an appointment with Morgan at Farfalla and holy smokes I am telling you...she gave me the best cut and highlights I've ever had. She transformed my hair and gave me beautiful subtle blonde highlights and a cut that was perfect for my hair type and face. Morgan is an absolute gem and could easily work at a top salon in NYC if she wanted. She's also really cool and interesting which made the hours fly by. My haircut was Great! Exactly what I was looking for (I brought in a picture) and completed within one hour. I also loved the scalp massage and Aveda products used. It would have been a 5* experience except the customer service left much to be desired. I called to make an appointment and listened to the voice message that said they were understaffed so may not be able to return my call. I left a message anyways requesting the appointment. When I didn't hear back in a few hours, I walked in to request the appointment. When giving my information, it was mentioned they did get my message (but obviously did not consider calling me back to book the appointment??). I was 5 min early to my appointment. They said my stylist was "just finishing up". I watched as one stylist completed with another client, and surprised that I wasn't called by her, already 10 min past my appointment time. When I went to enquire they said the other stylist would be finished "soon".... When I was about to throw in the towel and cancel the appointment from waiting so long, they then transferred me to the stylist who was available. Seems silly to have to wait for someone when a stylist was available, especially when it was already 10 min past my appointment time! Hopefully with more staff they can up their customer service game. read more

With few options for a haircut at Whistler, I found this one buried down a little alley way. Place was busy but they carved me a mohawk. Dirt cheap for a quick job and really fun too. She spent way too much time on my 'hawk. Place was jumping with real customers who wanted blond highlights in the dead of winter. No sure about that, but every station was full at 8pm on a Saturday night. Make reservations unless you're getting a 'hawk, then they'll fit you in for the fun of it. read more

Let me start off by saying. I have been in tears for a month. I had beautiful long ombré hair, I only wanted a few balayage highlights in my re growth. When I called they said they did balayage and I was with a senior stylist. My stylist Genvieve promised me her technique of back combing would give the same effect. I told her I only like balayage and my hair is so healthy, it took me years to get it. I thought she was just foiling my regrowth as I asked, to match to my already ombré hair, not go over it! I went home washed my hair, and it's like cotton candy, severely damaged. She foiled and back combed with tiny tiny foils AND shocking and stupidly brought 20 vol bleach all the way from my Virgin hair to my ends of bright blonde already lightened hair. Completely through. Where my ombré was is now the consistency of gum, I've had professionals look, it's super soft and feels almost moist, they have said its cause the elasticity is gone. My top is even fried and broken (the virgin hair) so think of my already bleached ombré. I cannot believe going in for something so basic has caused me this much stress and tears. A few pieces and a light dusting trim as I loved my length, and finally reached easy low maintenance hair is gone. I've asked them to pay for trims and they won't. My hair is destroyed from root to tip. She LEFT the salon for coffee or her "break" and did not check me once in 30 minutes. Bleach is not timed. So the back was on about 45-50 minutes. I have thin curly hair, any professional should know this and watch and take them out. I'm devastated. I've cut 4 inches and we have 8 more to go, stylist have said they don't even know if they should fix it, they want to leave it for awhile. It's horrible to feel like someone didn't listen and just did what they wanted. She kept saying her hair always goes yellow, and I replied "I like a pale yellow, DO NOT make me white" I know hair. Gold is better then fried. I told her I liked hair painting pieces, and I ended up with tiny white fried foils. Plus severely damaged hair and zero even effort to pay for trims for all this damage by the owner. I would not step foot in this Salon. Had she checked me instead of over processing I could have lived with it. And had she just did my re growth, not brought it through my entire head. My surfer healthy hair is gone. I feel vain and horrible for feeling so stressed, but my hair made me feel good. Super sad. I felt like no one even cares. Here's photos to make your own call Of before and afters. read more

Just got my hair done by Rebecca. She was very nice, professional and knew exactly what I wanted. She did my root color, partial highlights (foils) and a cut. Everything turned out beautiful! The beige blond highlights came out perfect, just how I like them. My base color was dark and I worried that the root color was going to turn brassy-orange/red. Received a horrendous overlayered haircut right before coming to Whistler and couldn't bear to see my hair in that state for more than a few days. Set up an appointment with Sarah and she was great! She listened to my concerns, analyzed the issues, told me what she would do, and best of all, did a dry cut so that we could see how the changes looked immediately. My hair cut still isn't perfect because I wasn't willing to take off much length, but it is so much better than when I walked in. Highly recommend! read more

As I told my stylist, Krystle, "Please let me take you home with me." I was a bit skeptic at first due to the price of a blow dry. Since I have long hair, the cost for a blow dry was $65 which to me is unheard of. I live in Miami which is high end salon central and the most I've paid for a blow dry is $40. But since my husband and I were on vacation along with our baby, he didn't want me going through the hassle of blow drying my own hair, so he told me to get the service for $65. Appointment was done on the same day. My stylist was running late. The lady at the front desk even called my cell phone to tell me she was running late so I wouldn't be waiting around. Not many salons do that. When Krystle attended me, I asked if she also had time for a scalp massage and conditioning treatment since I knew she was booked. Without hesitation, she provided the treatment. It was so relaxing. She did an amazing job blow drying my hair. When she was done, she asked how I wanted my hair styled. I asked for silky locks and that is exactly what she did. I was so in love with my hair! I wish I would be able to take Krystle back home with me so she could be my personal hair stylist. She was amazing! Highly recommend her! Use her before she leaves back to Australia next April. read more

Horrible salon, very disappointing hair and makeup. Went to salon for bridal hair and makeup. My wedding party also had hair and makeup done, we were all very upset with the salon. They were overbooked and rushed us along. Some staff members were rude. The makeup was horrible - we had to re-do the clown makeup after leaving. I would never return to this salon, and caution anyone (especially brides) from choosing this over-priced salon. read more

I really appreciate how Farfalla always goes above and beyond my expectations. For waxing (specifically brows) I love Emily. I think she's fantastic and it's tough to trust someone with brow waxes, but she is extremely capable! She's very detail oriented and strives to meet my needs. The shape always looks great and she never does them too thin which is a common faux-paux among estheticians. For hair I've gone to a few senior stylists who I have found professional and detail-oriented. I also really enjoy the scalp massages and the little extras that go above what I would expect. read more

I've lived in Vancouver for 3 yrs and struggled to find a good hairdresser. I arrived with long hair and it gradually got shorter (now a short bob) NOT out of choice. Every hairdresser I went to tried to do something that was either technically out of their skill range or they heard my request completely different, giving me something completely different!! Eventually, I travelled to San Francisco where I knew an excellent hairdresser. She gave me one of the best cuts ever - I loved it. However, travelling to SF a few times a year is not financially viable. Eventually, It needed a trim and nervously I knew I'd have to go to a Vancouver hairdresser. Oh! No! Not a good idea - she tried to follow the style but couldn't and decided to do her own thing and messed up my "One and Only wonderful haircut in 3 years". I then decided to try Sukis: all of them Granville, downtown, Kits.. It was "hit & miss"...and very expensive. On the first cut it was ok but I still had to go back for a 2nd cut to get it right. Then out of pure luck I found "Lawrence Hart" and he understood exactly what I was requesting. He listened, gave me his honest opinion of how it would look and how he could help my hair look thicker, and why a certain type of cutting method works better for my quality of hair. I am overjoyed to have found him. If you are coming from London UK & want a good hairdresser who speaks your language, is v skilled and honest then Lawrence is the one to go to. Don't do as I did and try many different stylists in hope that you'll get a good cut. Lawrence worked in London before moving to BC. He is based in Whistler and well worth a trip from Downtown. If you don't fancy driving go with: Epic rides they get you there in 75 mins direct from Burrard. I am so relieved that I can now go up to Whistler as and when I need a cut, and I can stop wondering when I can afford my next trip to San Francisco!! I had my hair done for my wedding in Sept. I booked my appt 3 months in advance. I went in for my pre-appt the day before the wedding, had my nails done (great job) and confirmed the appt for the next day. When I arrived the next day, my stylist told me "I'm not going to be able to do your hair today, I was double booked" What?! Who says that to a bride???!! She waited for a stunned response from me before replying that someone else was available and could fill in. This might have been a better opening line? The double booking was a lady getting foils done. Perhaps it's just me, but I think I might have bumped the foils not the bridal up-do. The management sent an email afterwards with a luke warm apology about the glitch in the system and asked for feedback on their "impeccable service". Hmmmmmm. Although my stylist in the end did a great job, and I understand things happen, it sure was not handled well. A very disappointing experience. read more

As I just moved to Whistler, I was hesitant to try out a brand new salon as I have been going to the same woman for years. I would HIGHLY recommend Sally to anyone for hair color. She did an amazing job and did exactly what I wanted. She was also very helpful in explaining why she chose certain colors and products. All of the staff at Farfalla are extremely friendly and make you feel more than welcome. In addition, I went to Emily for waxing and I would also highly recommend her to anyone in need of waxing treatments. I went in for a brazilian wax and left in no pain and exactly what I wanted! This review is for a pedicure. I was there a week ago. I scheduled a pedicure while I was on vacation. I expected the pedicure to be high end given the location and the price of the service. However, upon arriving and being taken back to the pedicure room, I quickly realized they do not have a pedicure chair. The pedicure is a dry pedicure while you're propped up sitting on the esthetician's facial table with your legs bent up so the manicurist can do the pedicure. The position was not relaxing and the room was hot. When I asked if the air could be turned up, she said there wasn't an air conditioner. Please note, this is in no way a reflection on the person that did my pedicure. I liked her. She was working with what she had. However, given the pedicure was dry, my heels are now cracking so badly I can't walk on them. Never in my life have my heels cracked. I feel it is a direct result of this pedicure. I DO NOT recommend having a pedicure here. The salon, in my opinion, should not offer this service because they do not have the appropriate facilities. And this pedicure cost me $84 plus I gave a $20 tip!! The tip was because the manicurist tried hard, she just didn't have the facilities to do her best job. read more
