I'm sorry to have to give Joe's such a poor rating, but I have been treated poorly there too many…read moretimes to not say something. I have purchased many pieces of equipment at Joe's over many years ranging from inexpensive replacement parts to whole units costing thousands of dollars and after my experiences of the past couple years I will never return. A couple years ago I brought them an old snowthrower that ran but leaked gas from the carburetor. I was clear about the nature of the problem and that I wanted it fixed. I went back after some time to get the snowthrower and it still leaked gas and didn't run any better than when I dropped it off. Despite paying Joe's more than $200 the unit was just as bad as ever. They kept it and after more time told me it needed a carb. I was angry about that, but at least they put on a new carb for cost. However, they should have done that to begin with since the problem was obvious and I believe the total amount I paid exceeded what I would have paid had they simply replaced the carb in the beginning. Instead, I had to make three trips, which meant getting a trailer at least one more time than necessary. Since I don't own a trailer that in itself was an inconvenience. I eventually purchased a new Ariens snowthrower from Joe's. This is a make I will not buy again. It is a large unit with supposedly a powerful engine, but I'm not happy with it. The controls don't work all that well and I find it awkward to reach over with my right hand to adjust the chute direction on the fly. Low range is too fast and consequently the unit rides over deep snow. Buy a Honda track drive instead! Joe's delivered the new snowthrower a little over a year ago and it was supposed to be all set to use. None of the adjustments worked well despite the fact the unit was set up by one of their techs. The auger continued to turn despite the fact I had released the handle...creating a dangerous situation. Other levers slipped out of position because, again, the adjustments were not done correctly. I told Joe's right off and at first they told me I had to make the adjustments. I was appalled! I had just taken delivery of this unit and they wanted me to correct their mistakes. They did eventually take it back, but the problems with the levers for the chute deflector persisted. I fixed those myself, but I should not have had to do that. After using the unit for a while I contacted Joe's and asked them if they would take it in trade toward a Honda track drive. I communicated with the owner who wanted pics of my snowthrower. I sent the pics and his response was that I should check with sales to see if any Hondas are due in. Really??? The owner didn't know what was coming in! I checked with sales and they said two were due in but were both spoken for. Regardless, I again asked the owner if he would tell me what he would allow on my unit if he took it in trade. I never received a response. I have been treated shabbily and I am done with them. I don't like patronizing big box stores and would rather work with a small business, but not when they treat their customers like they don't matter. I have received much better treatment at big box stores.

If they don't have what is needed it has always been let me see how we can get the part or with the pandemic they would be able to inform me of the expected delivery time once they know and they told virtually immediately". They have never said no. They have never given me the impression that my business was not extremely important to them. Every single time I have contacted them with a problem they have always bent over backwards to find the correct answer. Their technicians have been brilliant at finding and fixing the very few problems, I have had and coming up with creative answers to unusual problems that I have presented to them. THEY HAVE NEVER SAID NO WE CAN NOT HELP YOU. Champlain is the second KUBOTA dealership I have used. The first one in NH claims to be the largest KUBOTA dealership east of the Mississippi (if you know who that is, MB Tractor) and they can't hold a candle to how Champlain has taken care of me. For me Champlain has always done business the way it should be done and the way it used to be done. This town is where Townline started, and they used to be great when Bob ran it, and they built up quite a business. A few years ago, I bought a tractor from them. They nearly lost the sale because the sales girl didn't know anything. I asked for the sales manager and told him they were about to lose the sale because I could not get any straight or correct answers from the girl. They sent out a knowledgeable guy and we got it done. A month ago, I went there to buy an excavator. The sales staff ignored me as I stood around the showroom awhile. One guy was in his office on the phone, and other had his head buried in his computer. Eventually I left and went outside and toured the new and used inventory myself. I went back in about 20 minutes later and was ignored again. I went to "head buried in computer" man and asked if he was sales. He said he was, and asked me what I wanted to know. I told him I wanted to buy an excavator. He seemed reluctant to help at all. I had to ask him pointedly to show me what he had for used. We went outside, but he knew nothing about his inventory and kept telling me I should look it up on the internet myself. He mentioned a couple times that he didn't "keep all this info in his head". He could not have been more disinterested in selling an expensive excavator. We went back inside after a most dissatisfying conversation about the one used excavator he showed me. I asked about new excavators. Again, he knew nothing and showed absolutely zero interest in selling me one. Instead of telling me anything or offering to show me anything, he went to his rack of pamphlets and tried to find the models I was asking about. It was quite clear he just wanted to get me out the door so he could go back to his computer. By this point, I knew there was no way I'd buy anything from Townline. After a couple minutes of him poking through pamphlets and handing me a couple (to models that were not what I was asking about), I gave up in disgust and left, never to return. I left there and went to United Ag & Turf in Springfield, VT, where the people were interested in selling equipment.

I was advised that blades are available and got a quick primer on how to sharpen one. I've read some reviews about him and how he's "rude". maybe.. if you're thin skinned and can't deal with his raw, unfiltered style. I personally found it refreshing to speak to someone and know exactly what they're thinking.

A couple of months ago I was about to conclude a transaction at the cash register when another customer walked up behind me, engaged in conversation with Mike and they left the room together, leaving me waiting for Mike to return. After some minutes I left the store. Today I brought in a lawnmower part that needed 5 minutes of attention and would include the sale of a new drive belt. Mike told me that I was a jerk for having left the last time I was there and therefore wouldn't be ready until sometime tomorrow. Asking for my part back, I told him I would not be returning. He hurled insults at me as I walked out the door. It's sad to see what this business has become. It is without any inventory of new equipment and is a dealer for no brand. Given Mike's extremely unpleasant behavior, there's just no reason to do business there, and plenty of reason not to.
