And fresh cut flowers. And meat from the animals that they raise on their farm. And they sell it at competitive prices. Not with exorbitant mark ups. The jam being sold was made in some ones kitchen - not at some mini factory. Same with the baked goods. It's held up on Academy Hill in Westminster. A big grassy field that you can easily sit down in. Live music on the band stand. Quite a few trees that provide shade for those hot days.

Soft guitar music playing while all the beautiful foliage surrounds all the various kiosks. Like something out of Pinterest. I feel like the photos don't do the actual experience justice. Overall, I thought the stalls were decently priced and we bought a lot of items ranging from fresh beets, garlic, mixed greens, to fresh cheese, and mushrooms. Apart from food and produce they sell yarn that comes from the wool of local sheep. I saw a distillery stall where they were handing out samples - it had quite the line. A stall that sold dry teas and infused syrups (I bought one actually) Maple syrup, soaps, I could go on. There's a booth for those who use Hip and apparently from $10 you get $30 to spend so it's a place where even those on a low budget can come and take advantage. Then there's the food which, you should definitely try. It was our first time trying food from Afghanistan and it was incredible. They were like these dumplings filled with either meat or squash, we chose the squash, and then it had lentils on top and a rich yogurt sauce that was absolutely phenomenal. I mean, honestly, it was a great experience, and the place itself is so beautiful, it's no wonder that there's lines of cars parked and others waiting to find parking. That's the only drawback, finding parking is gonna be rough, but when you do, ohhh the goodies that await you! I honestly wish I lived here, I'd be at this farmers market every Saturday.

On our last visit, I watched as 4 employees from the pizza company park in the handicap spots. (No handicap placard) and there was PLENTY of open spots just past the handicap spots. I pleasantly spoke with the young workers to explain that some people need those spots- the response? "Well, we are working". Noted. I did send an email to Red Apple a few weeks ago, but no response While living with someone who relies on the handicap spots, I now understand using these spots give people a way to go out and live life. It's truly disheartening to see the lack of empathy

It's just about the right size -big but not too big, know what I mean? Plenty of food and artisan booths to choose from. Vendor choices include plenty of fruit and vegetable farmers, plus baked goods, grocery items, dog treats, ceramic tiles, flowers, seafood, honey, soaps, granola, coffee, spices and more. We picked up six apple cider donuts from Worcester's Crust Bake Shop and a bottle of fiery Black Sambal Indonesian Hot Sauce from Worcester's Bali Marle. I had a teeny tiny sample on a teeny tiny spoon and coughed for 30 seconds !!!!!! Can't wait to add some to my next stir fry. If you are ever in the area when the Sturbridge Farmers Market is open, you really need to work it into your schedule. It's that good !

My last trip was earlier this week when my order was rung up at $10.51. I rarely use cash but had $11 and asked the young and confused employee if I could take a penny out of the tip jar so I could have 2 quarters change for parking meters. The minute I laid hands on that thing, a blonde haired middle aged woman literally flew out of the back and told me to get my hand out of the tip jar. Kinda chuckled and said Do you think I'm a thief?" Mind you, I am an elderly, completely respectable woman. I told her the girl had given me permission to get a penny ( waited for her to volunteer but she was too clueless). She said she hadn't heard that and to NEVER touch the tip jar. Maybe there has been theft before? But by an older daily customer? I was humiliated and terribly upset, especially as a long line of customers looked on. I am asking for an apology.

As they are famous for their peaches and apples at the local farmer's market, I really wanted to see the orchard itself as well as have an in-depth chat with one of the owners, Alan, who I got to know when purchasing their amazing produce. They have a really cute farm stand with lots of pumpkins and apples around this time of the year. You also have the option on going apple picking in the orchard and see how the different apples are grown. Alan, who usually doesn't take people on a tour around the orchard, showed me around and explained all their operations throughout the year. It was really eye opening to the farming industry around this region (compared to California where it never stops). Picked up some apples and cider, enjoyed the fall colors before driving through the back route where you can see the Boston skyline from quite a distance. Definitely recommend the non-touristy experience here.

Very nice indeed…read more Located on a long side street in the Central Business District of funky Northampton the Market specializes in the expected fruits and vegetables, but also had quite a selection of plants and flowers. The colors of the fresh vegetables was terrific- a photographers dream of orange and yellow tomatoes, purple eggplants, bright red and deep green peppers, plus the distinctive coloring of beets and carrots and sunflowers. I've seen some bigger markets, but really - if you're looking for fresh produce this should be more than enough for you to peruse. We picked up some zucchinis and a pint of "Chicken of the Woods" (not sure if its a wild mushroom or edible plant) from the Wild Edibles stand.
