this has become my new favorite place. My daughter and I did the pottery wheel class as my Christmas present. Then we went back three weeks later and painted our dried pieces. It was so much fun, that I have returned four more times doing painting classes. Our instructor is so much fun and she is so patient. She could teach anybody how to paint, she gives step-by-step detailed instructions. Not only is she giving you instructions she's also telling you why and walks around. This place is amazing. I love it.I cannot wait, because we are doing glass blowing next. This place is amazing. There's so many different things you can do there. The people the awesome. There's so much fun to be around. I did a drop in session with a 12 yr boy who thinks he isn't good at art, and this place was perfect for helping him find his creative streak! There were lots of options to choose from & he had a hard time narrowing down the choices for what to paint & which colors to use. The staff did a great job of checking in on us & asking if we needed anything help or suggestions. I think they do a great job with being present & available if assistance is needed, while still giving lots of space for creativity, and keeping the shop & supplies clean and usable for all. I absolutely love this place. I've taken Bob Ross painting classes, acrylic painting classes, also worked with resin and clay. I've also come in and just painted a piece or 10 with one of my granddaughters. I have loved every piece I've done and the only thing that dissappoints me is that I can't be there every day. Kudos to Stacey who is not only a great instructor but has a very funny sense of humor. The atmosphere is always a very welcoming one. Even the music choice has me singing while I paint. Art on the Rocks is one of the BEST places to let your creativity flow free. They have events for children as well as adults, and offer fantastic guidance to aid you in creating your very own masterpiece. My favorite is their ceramic offerings, which you choose your raw piece (or pieces!) and then choose from 2 huge shelves of glazes and finishes. The knowledgeable staff offers personalized guidance as to how the different materials work together and how to use and layer them like a pro. It's super exciting to pick up your piece after it's been fired in the kiln, and once you do it once, you're hooked! read more

I've been going here for MANY years. Stacey is amazing as well as her staff. I personally appreciate the expertise and knowledge in what Stacey does and offers. Each project has structured guidance/guidelines, specific direction, materials provided, etc. hence the ability to choose what classes you want. I also like that Stacey does offer open studio as well for those who would like to try a project but may not want to do a structured class! The staff are always amazing and super helpful. They answer all of your questions and explain everything very thoroughly. Using glaze has the potential to ruin not only your project but other projects as well if not used correctly which is something that I would have never known. You are definitely allowed to have freedom to create your projects in a fun environment. This is one of our favorite rainy day activities. The owner Stacie is more focused on drinking so people leave with horrible paintings. She was rude and made alot if sexual jokes. Which were completely out of line. Not to mention the girls next to me were underage drinking. Stacie made jokes that its 'BYOB and we dont check IDs so have a goodtime' Could they be anymore irresponsible? The first time I went to AOTR, I was nervous because I knew I couldn't paint if my life depended on it. It was a large class but I felt like I was the only one there because of the help and suggestions I received. The painting came out ok but I left there feeling pretty good about my new accomplishment. We ended up going back to paint a few more times and had a blast every time. Love that they offer stoneware pottery and even have awesome glaze recipes to follow so the pottery comes out looking amazing! Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to decide what glazes to use, so this is really helpful for people. Stacey & staff are super friendly, knowledgeable, fun and creative. Stacey is 100% accommodating, makes you laugh and feel like you are a talented artist no matter what your skill level. My 10 year old adores the kids summer classes, and has grown leaps and bounds as an artist under Stacey's instruction and encouragement. By far the best nights I have had! I have done pallets, wine glasses, canvases and even ceramics (walk-in hours). It was so fun on public nights I even booked a private bachelorette party and having Stacey there was great she fit right in with our crazy personalities. I've made so many projects here over the past couple of years. From painting classes, hand building, pottery wheel, resin, and glass blowing. I have absolutely faith in the staff and their knowledge of how the different glares work, their color after firing, and why it's important to follow "recipies". Absolutely love this place. It's always such an open environment. I come here with friends and family as a little get away retreat from a very high energy toddler.
