My friend recommended this for dinner and I would absolutely come back!! I was between a 4 and a 5 because our waitress wasn't the best, but overall I think it's still earning the 5! The ambiance is super cute and I loved the holiday vibe they had going on. I started with a cocktail and my friend got a dirty martini. My drink wasn't the best I've had but I think it was partially my choice I made. My friend loved her martini. I got a Caesar salad, which the waitress warned us was big and she wasn't joking! I could've had it as my entree! It was delicious and probably the best Caesar salad I've had since moving to NC. We also split the pomme frites, which were also a good sized portion for the price. I got the chicken sliders, which was my least favorite of the food. It was a little dry and the biscuit to chicken ratio wasn't my fave. My one complaint concerns the wine list, which includes mostly higher-priced choices (especially for the red wines) and very little in the every-day price range. Met friends at this local spot. We enjoyed delicious food in an unhurried and casual environment. True to its' name, the Farm Table menu is filled with locally sourced ingredients in well executed menu. The dining room is filled with farm kitsch and really sets the right mood for the menu. We started with a bloody mary from the bar and a beet salad. It's a delicious and refreshing bloody mary, well spiced and proportioned. A little more pizzazz to the garnish would be a great addition. The beet salad is a nice portion of oven roasted crisp fresh beets, over arugula and garnished with horseradish goat cheese, toasted hazelnuts and dressed with vinaigrette. Well balanced between the tangy and savory - an excellent start. Amy tried the beef short rib, and I had roasted chicken breast. The short rib is fork tender, braised in marsala. It's served with spinach, roasted spaghetti squash and portobello mushrooms. This is a fantastic rendition - earthy beef with slightly sweet squash and earthy spinach and mushrooms. Yum! The chicken breast is lightly spiced and roasted light brown, creating a crispy outside and juicy inside. The chicken is served atop a medley of black eyed peas, root vegetables and apples. Another great combination, with the apple adding a crisp sweet accent to the veggies. The check was $66, including a shared salad and one mixed drink, so on the high side for an everyday dinner. Overall really tasty food and nice night out. Came here without a reservation and was asked if we wanted to eat at the bar and sat right away. Started off with some tasty cocktails the maple whiskey sour and Moscow mule. Both absolutely tasty and refreshing. Started with the flatbread as an app. It was definitely on the salty side. The cured meat was salty and then there was also salt added, which made it just on the side of too much salt but we enjoyed it anyways. For dinner I loved the seared salmon. It came out absolutely perfectly cooked and was paired so well with a red pepper coulis and creamy leeks. Hubby enjoyed the braised short ribs. This place is one of my places in town. The food is always on point .. from the pork chop to the schnitzel to the braised ribs, utterly amazing food. The sweet potatoes mash is always delicious and the salads are really great as well. It's really beautiful and quaint inside and the service is just perfection. Gina is always a treat to have as a server but truly everyone is great. Their full liquor bar is also an added bonus. They have some great cocktails and have a good wine list. First time here, We had reservations and arrived on time. Nice looking place but I didn't get to see much of it. We walked in and got seated right away. We were walked through the restaurant which was mostly empty with only a few tables occupied and then into a back seating area and then to this very little corner stuffed against the rear doors which afforded me with a view of the apartment building out back. I did make a comment but the hostess was a young girl who had no idea what to do and walked away. So the waitress came by and did mention about moving to this other corner so we just stayed where we were and ordered drinks which was really just a small glass of coke as the must have just passed the rum over the glass and called it a rum and coke so the second round I went with a cider from next door. Wife got beer from the grill next door where we go regularly which is really good (which is better then FT). Wife ordered the Bolognese and I got the lamb (med rare of course). The wife liked here dish but my lamb was not good at all. It was the first time I had a Mediterranean type lamb dish and the Mediterranean portion was good. It was 4 chops in two pieces. One was very well done and the other was rare but the bad part of the whole lamb was that it was tough and did not taste like lamb, it did not have that distinctive lamb flavor and again it was tough. mentioned it to the waitress when she finally came back to the corner to check on us when we were done with our meals and she later brought a very good free dessert. So I would not recommend the lamb for $38. To sum it up I would not return but the wife would like to come again and when we left the place was very crowded. read more

Hands down the best restaurant I've been to this year. It was vibrant, well decorated, the wait staff were friendly. I ordered a huge pork chop with broccoli and sweet potato slices and I ate everything. The people I was with ordered different thing but no one left anything on their plate and no one complains about a single thing. We had the audacity to order two desserts and they were amazing. Too bad this place is far from us since we're behind Crabtree Mall in Glen Lake, but I am making another trip here just to eat more, get fatter and die happy. read more

Well cooked but the brie may have been a little odd for this combo of a flatbread. Glad I tried it, but once was enough. Boneless Braised Short Rib, fingerling potatoes & green beans: They were kind enough to let me swap out the beans & peppers for potatoes/green beans & boy am I glad they did b/c it was actually the potatoes that were the star of this dish! While the Short Rib was a plentiful portion & juicy, I felt it could have been seasoned a bit more... but those potatoes!! The jerk chicken tacos were just ok. Service: Our waitress was great and attentive. She even gave us an honest opinion on a dish that she didn't like so we didn't order it. An unforgettable night here at this unique country gem that uses fresh, seasonal ingredients from local farmers! This was my first time here, I came with a large business group. They promptly seated us in this amazing climate controlled outdoor patio with the most beautiful country fireplace! The decor and attention to detail here is truly outstanding and perhaps one of the best I've seen. The night just got better and better from there. They menu is so fresh with delicious dishes made from local meats, vegetables and spices! As you can imagine I was in heaven during the appetizer rounds! Crawfish dip, lentils, barbecue shrimp, more things than I can remember but all equally delicious! For the main course I ordered their Cioppino dish "from the sea." Absolutely delicious, shrimp, clams, fish all in this delightful spicy broth! All the other dishes here were just as well liked as mine! And I was in a group of over 20 people. Farm Table has a great rustic atmosphere that is very inviting and definitely adds to the experience. Our server was very friendly and helpful as well. It's clearly a well-managed restaurant that has invested in its employees. The attention to detail shows. So why the 3-star review? One word: salt. I tried the pork schnitzel and thought the schnitzel and arugula salad were fantastic. However the accompanying spaghetti and cream sauce were almost inedible they were so salty. I suspect the cook accidentally put three or four times as much salt as normal in my dish. It tainted an otherwise great meal. I also think that spaetzle would have been more appropriate than spaghetti, but regardless this was a well-composed meal that just suffered from over seasoning. I'll definitely give Farm Table another try. For a restaurant offering most entrees in the $20-25 range, it is a very reasonable value. If my entree had not been over seasoned, this would have definitely been a 4 or 5 star review. read more

There's nothing wrong with the food here. It's cooked well and the quality of ingredients seems to be fine, but there's just no finesse to the dishes. Shorts ribs were tender and most but the accompanying sauce had no depth and the small-cut potatoes and white beans didn't seem to be the correct accompaniments. Generous portions for sure. Meh. This place came so highly recommended and was just plain disappointing. We started with the Pear salad and bread. The bread was hot and delicious and the pear salad was good but not special. Compared to the roasted pear salad from local quick serve restaurant Pressed - it's like a 3/10 to Pressed's 10/10. It was mixed greens in a vinaigrette with craisins and "country ham chips" that were bacon like. On top it had about 1/2 a pear and two slices of Brie on the side. It was an large size for one as a pre-dinner salad and was good to split. I had the Chicken Florentine and my wife had the Boneless Braised Short Ribs. The Chicken Florentine was the most bland meal I have had while dining out in a long time. The 3 roasted cherry tomatoes were the only thing with flavor. I had to salt it just to have any flavor and I never add salt to anything. My wife and I joked in 15 years of marriage it was the first time she has seen me use the salt shaker at a restaurant. It was chicken, spinach and portobellos over rice and a sauce (like a gravy) with little to no flavor. The portion size was significant and would fill you up well. The Short Rib came with spinach, portobellos, and mashed potatoes as well as a Marsala sauce. The rib was well cooked and good in its sauce. The horseradish mashed potatoes were the only exceptional thing we had out of those plates. Especially with the sauce - it is the reason this review is 3 stars as a benefit of the doubt. The spinach and portobellos were boring. The portion size also was very large. Service was fine and nothing special. Never were we asked how our food was for example But our drinks were refilled. When asked about desserts the waitress named two and when we asked if they had anything to read/consider we were told "no" and then awkwardly stared at. She rattled off 3 other options but then she had officially lost us. So we obviously declined dessert. This won't be on our list of places to go back to. Hope our experience was an outlier and the few good things we had are evidence of what could be a great experience for someone else. read more

Great concept and menu. Mediocre execution. Started with pomme frites on a busy Saturday evening which was recommended by our server. Salty shoe string fries with starchy pamesean cheese that did not melt or adhere to the potatos and extra heavy on chopped green onions served with a mustard based sauce. Both of my guests asked for a side of ranch. OK but not a great starter. Not fully eaten. Bone in pork chop was huge but bland. Did not taste like it had been brined. Apple mustard sauce was not well received and chop was only half eaten. Mashed sweet potatos were very buttery. Brussel sprouts had an odd taste and were not eaten. Braised short rib was watery. Spinach greens were bland. Maybe cooked in broth? Needed some cream/butter or maybe some vinegar. Spaghetti squash was not eaten. Scallops in browned butter were excellent though the portion size of three seemed small. Pumpkin rissoto was interesting but only picked at. Overall a good exoerience. Adequate service. Nice wine selection. But not quite what it could be or should be for its price point - $103 before tip for three guests with two glasses of wine and a water. We agreed to give it another try on a less busy night. But we all agreed to throw doggy bags away on Sunday morning. read more

I was expecting a bit more from Farm Table. The decor is great and space is beautiful. There was just something lacking with the food. It can be be slightly better and I would suggest focusing more on the home-cooking and farm-to-table theme and not trying to make the food too fancy whilst compromising taste. They have their own garden outside so there is the emphasis on fresh food and farm-to-table goodness. I checked their website to try to make a reservation since they open at 5pm. I called around 1pm and said I wanted a reservation for 4 adults and one child at 7pm and the person that answered the phone said no problem and took down my name. When we arrived at 7pm, there was no record of my phone call or reservation. It really didn't matter since the restaurant was empty on a Tuesday night but I was just a but confused how the communication gap occurred between the phone call and the hostess book. Either way, we sat down at a large table and there is a rustic bar and then the open kitchen area in the back where you can see the cooks preparing the food. I like the wooden tables and dim lighting and it had a very rustic, farm house feel. Their beer and wine selection is pretty minimal. $6 house cabernet and $10 glasses of Meiomi Pinot Noir and a few in between. They have Foothills so a few good craft beers on tap. The best thing we ordered were the garlic pommes frites (fries) and they were part of the small plates menu section. The portion was huge and they had the best flavor. As fa an entrees, I ordered the schnitzel and it was a huge piece of meat deep fried in the same batter as my niece's chicken nuggets. Schnitzel is supposed to be pounded flat with not too much crust but okay I gave it a shot. My mom had the liver with sweet potatoes. The sweet potatoes had cheese in them and everyone at the table that tried them made a sour milk face. Cheese in sweet potatoes is not a good mix and this is back to my first point of just keeping things simple and not trying to make home-cooked comfort food fancy. My brother had a flatbread with some greens and what looked like grapes. I saw the cook make the dough and the fresh concept is there. The flavor though was lacking and it just needed something else. My sister-in-law loved the short ribs and the meat just fell off the bone. If there is a next time, I will get the pommes frites to start and short ribs. One of the managers came around during the meal to ask how things were and he had on a Gatehouse tavern shirt. I think they are owned by the same person and the tavern is right next door with bar food and drinks. The manager was very kind and since they did not have apple juice for my niece, he brought her a fresh apple instead.
