No clue if the food is any good because they wouldn't sell me any. I called to place a take out order. First no one answered the phone so I figured they were closed even through it was 630 on a Friday night. Then a man from the restaurant called me back and said he missed the call. Ok. I tell him I want to place a takeout order he sighs and says hang on and places the phone down. I wait 10 mins and then he picks up the phone and then hangs up. I call back and tell them I wanted to place a takeout order and he said "yeah we're very busy right now guy" I responded ok nevermind and hang up. They must be rolling in money over there that they don't need any food orders. I live in the neighborhood and they just lost me forever. Reading all the bad reviews about the service and management makes a ton of sense now. read more

This was our first time to try the restaurant. I think we were still mourning Leli's. However, this was a fantastic experience and we should have come here earlier. The food was outstanding we got the Gamberi Orreganata and the Penne Della Nona. Both were tremendous, and I would get the Gamberi again. The service was professional and lacked nothing. I am not sure what the issues were with other reviewers, but we really liked our guy. He was not an entertainer; he just made sure we enjoyed our meal. What else could you want. We will be back. So let me start by saying, I hold Italian restaurants to a much higher bar than many other cuisines. There's something about going out for Italian food that I feel needs to wow me. Milazzo's did not wow me. It was a fine meal. Server was very nice and helpful. The salad was pretty typical for a house salad. The bread (we had to ask for) was good as was the olive oil dip that came with it. The main courses (or Secondi because they are Italian) were pretty average. Not bad but not really good enough to be paying a "higher than I'd prefer to" price for them. Also the wine was presented and one person in our party was given a taste. I get that it's a thing in fine dining but it was a bit pretentious because the wine was of course okay and we drank it -- just a little "we're a fancy place vibe that wasn't needed. The decor is a pretty typical Italian/American vibe nothing special and it's in a strip mall. Was it a decent meal? Yeah. Would I return? 2nd visit - still excellent! This time tried Penne Dolla Nona. Wow! A "sampler" with a boneless beef rib, a meatball and a link of sausage, served over penne pasta and finished with a rich, sweet San Marzano tomato sauce. Pasta is PERFECT - al dente. The meats are fork-tender, juicy and wonderfully spiced. And that chunky tomato sauce - to die for. Really really good. Also tried Pollo Monachini. Enormous chicken cutlets, breaded and fried golden brown are topped with mozzarella, pignoli and mushrooms and figs over a bed of penne pasta The whole thing is sauced with a creamy rich Marsala sauce and broiled to melt the cheese. The low down: atmosphere was excellent, food was excellent, service was off-the-cuff excellent. Prices were what you would expect for Italian Cuisine (see menu) Rode by this restaurant and was curious to stop in and check them out. It was a Thursday night at about 5:45pm and there were only about 3 other tables seated at that time. By the end of our time there a few larger parties arrived. When you walk in there is a bar to the front left that seats about 14. The barstools are comfy with slightly cushioned seats and backs (for those of us with back problems..see photo). There is table seating directly to the right and then a more formal dining area to the left. From the outside the restaurant almost looked closed due to it being very dark inside. we almost left thinking it wasn't even open yet. But then we saw an "open" sign on the door. We found out that this place has been open for about 2 weeks . The owner, Chris, greeted us upon entering. He was extremely accommodating, helpful, patient and Informative. On this night, he was working behind the bar. All staff that were there that night were beyond helpful. You could definitely tell that service is their priority! Since dinner was not in the plan for me that evening it was more of a just "checking it out" type of night where meals weren't ordered , just an appetizer of Angelo Lecca Lecca (see photo) which is basically New Zealand Lamb chops w a Madeira Wine Sauce over broccoli rabe ( pretty much broccoli but sweeter ). Yum , yum! The Chef prepared everything so perfectly! The lamb chops were soft and delicate. Pretty much melted in your mouth. And the sauce was dreamy! For my alcohol drinking friends and Yelpers, they had 2 beers on tap (French Broad River Brewing Gateway Kolche and Outlaw Pilsner) According to my boyfriend, the French River Kolche is better than the local White Street Kolche which is locals know is pretty darn good! Chris, the owner, said he will have Hazy IPA on draft starting tomorrow (1/26) This will change periodically and according to demand and so on. They have bottle beers as well but currently no beer menu!. They have several wine options and a small selection of Bourbon, Vodka, Gin and so on. Wine prices ranged from $10 per glass to $15. And the beer on tap was $6 per glass. I will definitely be returning here for dinner and trying the Gamberri Orregonata! Whether or not you are in the Wake Forest area check them out! I ordered to go. They were friendly when I went in. I think I paid nearly $50 (after tipping) for a salad and Alfredo. So it's definitely expensive and not worth the price in my opinion. The salad had old lettuce in it and the pasta wasn't good. It didn't have much flavor, plus they gave me penne but they described that I would get the flat noodles that are similar to fettuccine. The food and service here was amazing. Our server was very attentive and the food came out in the expected time. I would definitely go back again. We tried the lobster ravioli and a seafood pasta. I liked both equally. We also got the calamari which was crispy and cooked perfectly. For food or service alone I would give five stars. The only thing that I think needs improved is that the tables by the windows end up getting blasted with light when cars were parking in front of the building. I think a simple film for the windows would help to prevent that! We will probably ask for a table in the back next time! read more

Quick first visit on a Saturday night. Very reasonably priced cocktails - $12 for a Woodford Manhattan - (Farm Table, are you listening??) - and a lovely menu with a handful of appetizers, 4-5 salads and about a dozen entrees. It seems like I'm getting good at picking Italian restaurants that have a nice decor, ambiance and friendly staff. This place hits the mark in those categories but I think it falls a little short on the food. I chose a bolognese cause I figured that it's a simple dish. Taste was good but bolognese texture was a little gritty. The same thing was the case with the meatball....gritty and fell apart. Looks like they forgot the binder and their meat was too lean. Maybe I picked the wrong dish but for the price they need to be getting the simple things right. Not sure if I'll visit again to be honest. read more

We looked on Yelp to find a nice place to try for my husband's birthday. Decided to try Milazzo's. The staff are attentive and the atmosphere is ok. We all ordered Caesar salad to start. The salad was very average. It didn't even come with shaved Parmesan which was disappointing for this kind of restaurant. But the main courses were all amazing. I had mushroom ravioli which was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend it. The chicken Parmesan looked great and also a mixed meat pasta dish. Great food, great service. Atmosphere a bit lacking as there are no booths, only tables and so it is quite loud without much privacy. I've eaten here twice now. Both meals were excellent. I had their Gnocchi Bolognese the first visit, and their shrimp pasta dish (can't recall the dish's name) the second visit. Both were excellent. Everyone who went with me said their food was very good. My only complaint was my first meal was only warm, not hot. They offered to heat it up for me but I'd already eaten most of it. The ambiance was very very nice. Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and serenading old time crooners keep you company as you dine. The gentleman that sat us seemed put off by our appearance. Not sure why. He was a bit ... abrupt and not exactly accommodating. We only had a moment to glance at the menu and he asked for our drink order and meal choices. Ummm okay. But when two other tables were seated after us and both had the benefit of having specials described, I wondered if we were excluded for some reason. I would have definitely opted for one of the specials. We ordered the gnocchi bolognese and the cavatelli sausage and broccoli rabe (one of my favorites). The meatball topping the gnocchi was mealy and heavy on the oregano - too heavy. The cavatelli was okay. Just okay. It lacked flavor if that possible. The service was good. We had to ask for water but were asked if we wanted another round of wine and beer half a dozen times and declined. I had very high hopes for this place. For the two of us we spent $145 - one drink each - a salad each - and an entree and a tip. Just saying...a bit much for what we had. read more

We went here tonight for their soft opening. We sat at the bar and the owner Christopher made our drinks and served us. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. We started with the Caprese salad which was excellent. For entrees we had the porcini ravioli with shiitake sherry cream sauce. It was amazing . The Cavatelli and meatballs were delicious! The food is really top notch. There were six of us and everyone loved their meal. We are excited to return. that's the good news. Improvements needed: Wait time Our reservation was a Saturday night and the restaurant was completely full. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our entrees. In the meantime, we did have appetizers. Service was quite good considering the full restaurant. For now, we won't go back on a Friday or Saturday. Night until they can improve the wait time. I'm not sure what needs to happen but believe they have a limited kitchen space so maybe they need to reduce the number of reservations they take ‍ Bottom line, we are happy to see such a nice Italian restaurant in Wake Forest and hope they can figure out the growing pains so they can have a long-term future here. read more
