2nd visit - still excellent! This time tried Penne Dolla Nona. Wow! A "sampler" with a boneless beef rib, a meatball and a link of sausage, served over penne pasta and finished with a rich, sweet San Marzano tomato sauce. Pasta is PERFECT - al dente. The meats are fork-tender, juicy and wonderfully spiced. And that chunky tomato sauce - to die for. Really really good. Also tried Pollo Monachini. Enormous chicken cutlets, breaded and fried golden brown are topped with mozzarella, pignoli and mushrooms and figs over a bed of penne pasta The whole thing is sauced with a creamy rich Marsala sauce and broiled to melt the cheese. The chicken is perfect, the sauce is divine! Outstanding. Bottom line - this place is GOOD. Go!

The low down: atmosphere was excellent, food was excellent, service was off-the-cuff excellent. Prices were what you would expect for Italian Cuisine (see menu) Rode by this restaurant and was curious to stop in and check them out. It was a Thursday night at about 5:45pm and there were only about 3 other tables seated at that time. By the end of our time there a few larger parties arrived. When you walk in there is a bar to the front left that seats about 14. The barstools are comfy with slightly cushioned seats and backs (for those of us with back problems..see photo). There is table seating directly to the right and then a more formal dining area to the left. From the outside the restaurant almost looked closed due to it being very dark inside. we almost left thinking it wasn't even open yet. But then we saw an "open" sign on the door. We found out that this place has been open for about 2 weeks . The owner, Chris, greeted us upon entering. He was extremely accommodating, helpful, patient and Informative. On this night, he was working behind the bar. All staff that were there that night were beyond helpful. You could definitely tell that service is their priority! Since dinner was not in the plan for me that evening it was more of a just "checking it out" type of night where meals weren't ordered , just an appetizer of Angelo Lecca Lecca (see photo) which is basically New Zealand Lamb chops w a Madeira Wine Sauce over broccoli rabe ( pretty much broccoli but sweeter ). Yum , yum! The Chef prepared everything so perfectly! The lamb chops were soft and delicate. Pretty much melted in your mouth. And the sauce was dreamy! For my alcohol drinking friends and Yelpers, they had 2 beers on tap (French Broad River Brewing Gateway Kolche and Outlaw Pilsner) According to my boyfriend, the French River Kolche is better than the local White Street Kolche which is locals know is pretty darn good! Chris, the owner, said he will have Hazy IPA on draft starting tomorrow (1/26) This will change periodically and according to demand and so on. They have bottle beers as well but currently no beer menu!. They have several wine options and a small selection of Bourbon, Vodka, Gin and so on. Wine prices ranged from $10 per glass to $15. And the beer on tap was $6 per glass. I will definitely be returning here for dinner and trying the Gamberri Orregonata! Whether or not you are in the Wake Forest area check them out! It would be worth the drive for some authentic Italian cuisine!

    Caesar salad with old lettuce

I ordered to go. They were friendly when I went in. I think I paid nearly $50 (after tipping) for a salad and Alfredo. So it's definitely expensive and not worth the price in my opinion. The salad had old lettuce in it and the pasta wasn't good. It didn't have much flavor, plus they gave me penne but they described that I would get the flat noodles that are similar to fettuccine. I ended up throwing majority of my food away, was not worth the calories.

It was a bittersweet moment and I'm glad we chose Cape Fear. Kelly was our waitress and she was outstanding, truly making my last meal at Cape Fear a special one (being that they're a very small chain in NC, I'm unsure if I'll ever be back). The drinks were constantly filled and her service was one of the best I have ever had at any restaurant. I ordered a bunch of food, knowing it would be my last time ever having their risotto, clam chowder, and hushpuppies, along with their delicious fried seafood platter. I had told Kelly I was moving so she made it a spectacular visit and went above and beyond. I will miss Cape Fear. It reminds me of The Hamptons. It's casual but classy. It was a fantastic meal with phenomenal service with an amazing friend. Truly, what could be better?

After running errands, we drove just six minutes to El Chapin, a Guatemalan restaurant. Forget Tex-Mex--this is a completely different Latin cuisine experience. The two of us spent $76 (including tax and tip), but we intentionally ordered extra to take home leftovers. Parking was easy, right out front, and the restaurant itself is spacious. Since we arrived just a few minutes after opening, we had the place to ourselves at first and were seated immediately. Service was prompt and very helpful--the server even suggested we might have ordered too much food (he was right, but we didn't mind!). Here's what we tried: Plato Chorizo y Longaniza - a sausage platter with salad, rice, refried black beans, and two delicious housemade corn tortillas. Pollo Adobado - marinated chicken with rice, salad, refried black beans and two housemade corn tortillas . Ceviche de Camarón - fresh and tangy, though light on shrimp, which tasted a bit tough Fried Plantains - perfectly done, sweet, and satisfying. Plus, I had an unsweetened iced tea with lemon. The highlights for me were the flavorful rice (with vegetables mixed in, including carrots and squash), the marinated chicken, and the sausages. The plantains were also excellent. The ceviche had great flavor but could've used more shrimp. The only miss for me was the salad--generous in portion but iceberg-based, so a bit bland. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful, not heavy or greasy, and we left with enough for another one or two meals. We'll definitely be back.

You really do 'get what you pay for'. The bar and dining area are casual, modern and inviting. There is also a spacious patio for al fresco dining when the weather is nice. I was particularly impressed with the Salmon BLT. This enhanced version of the classic BLT is hearty, meaty, slightly crunchy and simply delicious. Another favorite of ours is the Honey-Chipotle Shrimp Wrap with lettuce and roasted red peppers. There are plenty of lightly fried, slightly briny shrimp crammed into an interesting spinach tortilla wrap. The unlimited basket of golden brown, almost sweet Hush Puppies comes with semi-soft honey butter - addictive. There are several lunch options on the 'Small Plate' menu (we found the servings to be more than adequate). That old standard, Fish and Chips was done to perfection. The thick piece of delicate, mild white fish was was covered in a light, golden-brown batter. I substituted Fried Okra for the Potatoes, and it was delicious. The Flounder and Oyster small plate is another winner. The ten crunchy, juicy fried oysters and a large founder filet were cooked just right. Small plates also include a small cup of Cole Slaw. The colossal slice of Coconut Cheesecake was simply scrumptious - creamy, smooth and so coconutty. Do yourself a favor and indulge.

Our server, Dawn, was easily one best servers I've had in a long time. Knowledgeable about the menu, made a point to explain everything and no questions were too obscure. We had a variety of dishes, and out of everything the pork schnitzel wasn't really a schnitzel if you've ever had one in Germany, it was more like a breaded, fried bone-in pork chop, really good but not a traditional schnitzel. The asparagus, the risotto, the pasta, the chicken were all absolutely superior. The stars were the appetizers, especially the kung pao fried Brussels, those are a meal by themselves, some of the best I've ever had! The fried burrata cheese, worth the drive to Wake Forest. Their Cherry cobbler one word: YUM! The Farm Table is a roomy restaurant with tables well suited for family style dining and while a bit loud, certainly not uncomfortably so Totally recommended and thank me later for those Brussel Sprouts!
