We stopped on our way home from a Birthday party at Putter's on highway 99 the other day. We had left over pizza, so we wanted some soda to go with the left overs. We don't keep soda stocked in the house. I was surprised the market was open because they seem to only be open on very limited hours. I don't think they are open on Sundays. I was kind of excited to stop because we had not stopped in, in a while. They usually have these cookies that I make that I have not made in a long time called hot cocoa cookies. They are chocolate crinkles cookies basically, with marshmallows on top, and a chocolate frosting. They are usually very good. We didn't get cake at the party, so I was looking forward to the cookie. Well we got it home and took a bite...it tasted as if it was days old! It was nasty! I was so pissed! I did not even take any more bites! How can they let that sit there for days like that? I make these, and know what they feel, and taste like after a week! It was foul! My guy said he has been in there and was hesitant on even grabbing the cookies because he has seen flies several at a time in food cases. That about made me want to vomit after he told me that. I hope this place picks up their standards, because I used to like to stop in. I used to like to be able to get simple pleasures that I didn't have to make at home. But now...I am not so sure. the only reason i shop here is that it's the closest to my home, and I'm rethinking that!…read morethe store seems to always be out of what I'm going for and worse, the had to squeeze in like seven cash registers, but only ever have one, maybe two cashiers working, as a result, the cashier isles are too thin so you get in front of your cart so you can put everything on the conveyor, then have to push the cart back out into the front isle to then get behind the cart to make your purchase. to top it off, the one cashier is painfully slow and seems to rethink his life choices between scanning each item, and Calvin never shuts up, he loves to hear his own voice, and he's like spinal tap, his voice is always on 11!

So that's something to watch out for if you care about it. The place smells incredible, like incense. The music was almost painfully repetitive. The person behind the counter didn't ask if they could help me, which personally, I appreciate. It's worth checking out, but I hate to say it if you are looking for slightly more common Indian spices, you might be better off checking Mountain Rose or even nearby Market of Choice if you want something fresher and in smaller quantity.

I don't know where they sourced it, but I'd guess it may be a local farm. They also had some good quality bananas and other produce staples. The staff person who checked us out was friendly. It was the sort of store that I maybe wouldn't go to every day for family groceries (I'd guess a bit too expensive for my everyday tastes), but I would definitely stop in to browse and get some fun things every now and again.

Employees are always friendly and helpful. My favorite aspects about this store are the produce, it is always fresh. They carry my favorite brands of flour and coconut water. They are also dedicated to local business. I've seen products from Bob's Red Mill (a Portland area company), Block 15 (Corvallis), Marley's Monsters (Eugene), Umpqua Dairy (Roseburg), and fresh eggs from the Willamette Valley.
