Farnesi's is a hidden gem. They serve breakfast all day and prime rib after 4pm. I had the steak sandwich and it was delicious! The service was excellent and there is plenty of parking for RV's and cars. read more

New ownership is most definitely not an improvement. We've been here waiting for 45 mins. Order was taken after 20 mins. Got our own pitcher of water (and one for another table too) because we never got our drinks. Finally walked out. Told other people how long we had been waiting and they left too. I know they were short staffed, but that is ownership's fault and if they couldn't find staff, the owners should have been down there taking care of business. read more

First off the food was perfect. This time my office got 3 different pasta trays for lunch for all the employees. There was plenty of food and we ordered for the amount of people here. (No intentional extra orders). The Shrimp Alfredo and Spaghetti were delicious and the Chipotle Chicken Pasta was sooo good and probably the first to go! We have used Farnesi's before for office meals and they are all very well done. Bravo to the chef and kitchen staff! The restaurant is always clean and in order. It is a diner in the front so it is not fancy but the remodel work that has taken place is beautiful! Now I want to take a moment and brag on the staff. They are always so welcoming and personal. (They greet you by name if you've been more than a couple times!) They are always kind and they are always helpful. Amanda was so polite and she is always a joy to deal with. This time I had more interactions with Carly and she was just as I expected. Helpful, (helped take my food to the car) kind, and funny. She alone would make you want to come into Farnesi's. Her skills as a waitress are more than impressive. I don't think she has to write much down, her memory is that good. She is an absolute pleasure to be around and I hope her supervisor knows how blessed they are to have her working there!! Once again, Yelp forces me into a peg hole where I would rather give a half star. Imagine you are driving a quarter million dollar truck and don't want to stop anywhere that looks like a scene out of Joy Ride or Maximum Overdrive. To that end FS is a solid choice. The big lot, though dirt, doesn't have more pot holes than a Sumo Wrestling gym floor. The building itself is not in shambles and some of the pictures gave me hope to add FS to my favorites in my Truckers GPS. Inside, the place was as bipolar as any Tim Burton movie without Johnny Depp, or with him. To the left was a typical dive diner for people who are comfortable sitting in what no doubt has doubled as an opening crime scene in Law and Order. On the right are covered tables, clean place settings, and an ambiance that makes you forget the left. The bathroom......don't do it.....seriously. The food and service are good, not great, but good. We took second string to a couple of obvious regulars, which I both understand and hate at the same time. The Calamari was straight out of the basic bro's cookbook with nothing to indicate it was anything other than a frozen prebuy before it was dropped in the fryer. It was ok, and better after we added lemon, salt, and steak sauce to the cocktail sauce. The chowder was obviously made for more of a blue hair crowd and required a bit of self upgrading to go from mediocre to something I would order again. Tabasco, salt, pepper, and crushed crackers are what got Niki to clear the bowl. The prime rib needed a mixture of both creamy and prepared horseradish along with enough pepper to make a cartoon sneeze to give it any real flavor or make us forget that medium rare is supposed to have pink in it. I will probably be back, maybe this was just an off night as some of these smaller places are prone to get. Maybe they will have earned that extra half star. But seriously... Avoid the bathroom... I've heard through the years that Farnesi had great steaks so I decided to check them out on my way home. The restaurant gave me the "old school diner" vibes. The waitress was pleasant. The steak was just "ok". Nothing special. I though it was really basic. It was tough, hardly any flavor. I would categorize it as any basic 24hr restaurant steak. The fries were delicious. read more

Visited this restaurant a couple days ago and I had the Pork Chop meal and my wife had the French Dip. Everything was delicious and cooked to order with generous portions. Disappointing. It took the server over 30 minutes to take our order. One of us order the meatloaf, it was horrible, it looked like it was from a microwaveable dinner from the freezer section at the grocery store. Refills were hardly existent. I took my baby and neither bathroom had a changing table so I had to go out to the car to change diapers. The men's bathroom stunk horribly. When hurrying back from Yosemite on a chilly morning, and with a hangry 11 year old in the backseat, avoid the urge to go fast food and have a great american diner breakfast. I get that this place could have good and bad days, good and bad plates, but our experience was stellar. My son's pancakes were maybe not cooked to order, but the real treat is biscuits and gravy. Gravy distinguishes diners--gravy's a test. They passed. The biscuit was soft and the gravy abundant and deep and smooth. The 3 dollar hot chocolate was laughable. I mean, seriously, 3 dollars for a dry hot chocolate made with water? But back to the gravy... This place can be trusted for a good rest from driving and for some seriously amazing breakfast fare! read more

What Happened?! I've been going here for over 20 years. The new owners took over and did some inside updating which was a nice improvement and kept the same menu with little change. THEN TODAY went for dinner with some friends and BIG CHANGES. A new menu with reduced choices and a hefty price increase with some meals and sides almost doubled. (Example: $5.99 for a side of toast or a biscuit.). This isn't going to go well with the locals and I'm sure some just passing through. Add that they have changed venders so the wonderful homemade clam chowder of before is now premade and contained some undercooked potatoes, the fish and chips price has increased considerably along with the vender change which wasn't t as good as before and they decreased the portion size. While I understand change and prices go up, this was an unexpected disappointment today. I'm so hoping the owners realize that they need to make some adjustments to these changes. For now while it was one of my top choices for our weekly dinners out, I will say they will not be my choice for quite sometime. read more

This place is like a time warp straight out of a movie. It's right off the freeway so its a convenient location. When we walked in there were a few people dining but it wasn't busy. We were seated right away and the server got our drink order quickly. We got some coffee and then placed our order. The hubs got biscuits and gravy. It didn't come with eggs or hash browns. Just two biscuits with gravy on top. I got a single pancake. The pancake was good. It came with butter on top that I'm pretty sure was margarine and not your typical real butter you see on top of a pancake. The biscuits and gravy wasn't great. The biscuits were ok. But the gravy tasted bland. No flavor at all. It was missing something. We finished and got our tag to pay. It was about $13. The cheapest breakfast I've ever had! For that price I'll take margarine over butter and flavorless gravy any day. read more

A road side diner, I had eggs for breakfast, they tasted a little off and gave me the shits for two days

Stopped on our way home from Sacramento my wife had a craving for fried chicken and we thought this roadside dinner house would be a good place to try again as I had been there several times years ago and it was always good.the server gave the option of white meat , dark meat, or combo she chose the combo as was told it would have a breast the meal came without the breast as requested we told the server and went back had the kitchen make breasts. The server was gracious an apologetic. However the chicken was inedible as it was obviously cooked in oil that should have been changed long ago very bad! I ordered prime rib that was probably microwaved. The green beans tasted like they came from a can. Overall a very bad experience and will not return! I only hope the owner reads this and realizes that if he does not get some competent kitchen staff the place is doomed in the near future! read more

First off, our server Cheryl was amazing! As well as the food-We had the cowboy porterhouse steak, the cajun chicken pasta, and the diane something (and a mini corn dogs kids meal). All of it was hot and cooked to order. Our server was upfront when we ordered and let us know a bus had come before us so our food would come after theirs. I appreciate the heads up because some places will let you order and wait forever before saying something. Now...for the reason I reduced one star. Carlee. The other server was continuously rude to our serve and she did so openly in front of customers. I could not believe I was actually seeing this. I understand the restuarant was busy but to continually see this behavior was astonishing. I truly hope she takes a lesson of keeping any drama behind closed doors and when in front of customers being polite and respectful. Great old diner. Truck parking galore. No SWIFT, Prime or CRST drivers took out my car when I was in... Wifi, easy on and off from 99 2 minute walk to Days Inn and a Chevron. Exit 170 from S/B lanes. Country music playing to keep you entertained. Gives me the vibe of the 70s. Actually was just driving by when I figured "hey this looks like a cool place" glad I did stop! Actually reminds me of that one song "I'm in love with a waitress and I don't even know her name" same decor and era. The Cowboy burger was excellent. The fries hot and they didn't skimp on the meat size. $11.99 plus tax wasn't bad at all. Customer service was solid with Sherrha and funniest goofiest name on their burgers. Hillbilly burger! It's just like being at home except the waiter doesn't talk like family! Banquet room if that's your needs as well. Will have to stop by on my way to LA next time :) read more

When I walked in this place, I felt like I somehow was beamed back to my hometown of South Jersey.... There is a very weird 70s feel here.... We came in while driving down to Yosemite... A short and sweet review is this: the staff is great. Very nice, and very accommodating. They made substitutions QUITE easily for us, which was fantastic! Though I recommend maybe considering a uniform on top that comes up a little higher? Maybe just a little bit? However, this place is VERY expensive for being a diner-esque place. I always felt that you can't put the word "Steakhouse" in your name and get away with charging an extra $10 per plate.... I went with a minestrone soup and a tuna melt... They were ok, nothing wrong with them, but nothing really satisfying about them either. I actually only ate half of the sandwich. The bathroom stall, tiny!!! The door was touching my knees! I really wish the prices were a little lower. If so, I could see this as being a regular place I'd stop to eat on the way to Yosemite, but based on how it is now, I'd rather find somewhere else...
