This is a legit OG diner in Los Banos. Very much a local joint where people know each other by name. If you are looking for the real thing, this is about as real as it gets. The food is made to order and exactly what it says it is. Nothing fancy, no frills, just plain good food that will fill you up if you're hungry. I had the steak sandwich with fries, and it was a real steak that was cooked exactly how I ordered it. So tasty and I was hungry so it was extra good. And, the service is super friendly and will make you feel like part of that small town vibe. This is not a fancy place but a diner is not where you should go if you're looking for a gourmet meal. I would say this place is a staple of this town. I'm actually surprised it's not reviewed much more than it has been. A family favorite for breakfast for us! Traditional American diner owned by a local family. I would highly recommend this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Really generous portions all the time, family friendly prices and service is fast. A lot of different options to choose from. The inside gives an old school diner vibe, lots of cool things to look at while you wait. Decent amount of tables and a counter top with stools if you're feeling more social or stopping in solo. Amazing little diner, while staying in Los Banos we went to get a big burger, let me tell you the burgers are huge and the fries were piled high too. I got the western burger with two onion rings, bbq sauce and sautéed onions. I had to take it back to the house just to much to eat. Well now, first off, Los Banos, is the place to be at any time. it is one of the last of the true American towns. (Ask the Phoenix Bookshop lady about the Dalton Brothers and the train!) . The Diner is one of the best restaurants in the Valley, both in food, ambience and excellent service. The town has speakers playing music of someone's youth-maybe yours. the restaurant has food of the present and don't get me going on the apple pie a la mode. read more

We moved to Los Banos 5 years ago and 6th st. Diner was recommended by several people. Could use a little sprucing up but hey were not eating ambiance. On to the food. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner we have never been disappointed. Breakfast, Omlets, Biscuits and Gravy, Pancakes are just a sampling of our favorites. Lunch and Dinner for us usually is Fried Fish (big portions), Jalapeno Cheeseburger and or there version of a Cheese Steak. Oh the Country Fried Steak w/ Mash and Gravy is a can't mis. Service is Spot On! The owner Rosa, her daughter and Angie keep everything running smoothly. All in all this is a through back to what people grew up eating at back in the 50's and 60's, a real Diner. Try it and you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been in LB for well over 12 years. I have only been here twice. The first time it was okay. Tons of flys and lack luster service. That was probably 5 or 6 years ago. We went on Sunday March 2nd 2025. The food was just okay. The service sucked as the last time. The portions are big, but if the food is just okay why do I want a ton of it?? The gravy was tasteless. Probably out of a can. The hasbrowns were good. But a little mushy. The chicken fried steak had no flavor and got soggy quick. The biscuits were hard and couldn't cut with a fork or a knife. The gravy was out of a can. We took one bite and left the whole thing. They need to clean and dust off all the cobwebs off of the old and faded junk they have on the wall. The whole place is junky. It's definitely a dive. I don't think I will be going back. There are other places to go in the surrounding areas. LB needs to step it up on places to eat if they want us to spend our money in town. 90% of the population spends their money out side of town. And that's sad. But, I completely understand why. read more

The first time I went there the food was really good but the service was very very poor and unprofessional. She looks like she's mad all the time and she's rude to the customers. I wanted to give it another chance so we tried to go yesterday and the same thing happened. She was showing her belly and was rude. There was another customer asking her if they can move to another table and she answered very rudely and upset. She said "no you have to wait" in a rude manner. I'm not sure if it's the owners daughter but that's not the way you should be treating people, especially in this type of business. So me and my husband decided to walk away. I will never come back to this restaurant again. read more

Food is amazing! Sunday afternoon walked in around 12:30pm, breakfast crowd already came and went. We got a table with no wait time. I ordered the SOS which is 3 eggs over easy, (my preference), 2 sourdough bread piled high with tender tri-tip and gravy on top! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the tri-tip was well seasoned and tender. The gravy added the perfect touch to the dish. The gravy was well seasoned and just the right consistency. Not too thick and not too runny. The server was friendly and the atmosphere is homey and welcoming. Visiting Los Banos and placed a large brunch to go order and the food didn't dissapoint! The homestyle fries and cheesy omelette were great. My friend loved their steak and eggs as well.
