Wonderful pizza! Hearty toppings, crispy crust. Good sauce, although they could apply a bit more for my taste. But, that's a small critique. Loved the place, reminds me of the old pizzeria in the Chicago hamlets. Family run I assume, I see the teenagers working hard behind their dad I think. All courteous, and service oriented. You can also dine in, again small but quaint. The thing that disturbs me is the previous reviews about not much toppings. Are you kidding me? Take a look at the pictures here. Pizzas were full of toppings! especially mushroom which is unusual, generally the caps and broken stems leftovers are used. Here, the mushrooms are intact, cap and stem, only higher end restaurants do this. So, you detractors... Send proof like I do. Here's the pics of what you get piping hot. We ordered in thinking it would take 45-65 minutes but our pizza came hot and fresh in 25! It was absolutely delicious! I ordered a medium size for the two of us, we got just the basic cheese and it was plenty for us. It was extremely cheesy, but not too greasy! The crust is sooo tasty and light and buttery. Came in a little past noon. Small dining area highlighted by glossy tiles and the smell of fresh pies. Looked like it could use a good deep cleaning but I was getting two slices to go anyways. I ordered two pepperoni slices and a Cherry Pepsi. About $6.50. Not bad. Two large slices, to my surprise, the pepperoni under the cheese. Only pitfall to that is the grease from the pepperonis soaked into the thin crust. Parts of the crust had a nice crunchy char, some were floppy and saturated. It was still tasty. The sauce was sweet and the cheese had a nice toast with a few bubbles of cheese throughout the slice. 4/5. I'd like to see the place cleaned up a little, and maybe put the pepperoni on top to avoid that soggy crust. Otherwise very tasty and I'll stop by again! read more

We paid over $40 for pizzas from here. Ordered online and accidentally ordered 3 toppings on a two topping pizza. Rather than just charging us the additional when we came to pick it up, they cancelled the order. However, that means I have to wait 3-5 days for the money to be returned to my bank account. We are visiting from out of town and now have 3 hungry kids who will have to wait much longer for food. Whoever answered the phone claimed they called 3 times. My phone directs unknown numbers straight to voicemail. However, they only called twice and never left a voicemail. Had they left a voicemail I would've checked it and called back. I've been searching for a New York style pizza place in Grand Rapids and have not found it. My search continues after trying Faro's. Their profile picture on Yelp, plus a couple reviews mentioning NY style and a pick-up promotion led me to try this place. I was disappointed that it wasn't really NY style and even further disappointed that they don't use fresh mushrooms. The sauce was actually decent, had a nice sweet taste that was flavorful and I thought it was interesting they put the toppings under the cheese (thought it was funny that one Yelp review I read complained about having 1 pepperoni on their pizza so they gave it away, if only they took a bite....) It was decent enough for me to finish the leftovers the next day but i likely won't be ordering from here again. read more

Stopped for some dine in... Small shop so you know it's gonna be good and it didn't disappoint. Pizza came out piping hot on a metal tray and I'm pretty sure Isaac brought it out with his bare hands. Hotel delivery right to your room! During my stay in Grand Rapids, I had a major case of the "420 Munchies" and was in no condition to drive. I found these guys online and was really impressed. You can order online / customize any way you want. In my case, they delivered right to my hotel room, which was a major bonus. Delivery was prompt and pizza was hot. Highly recommend their meat lovers pizza. I didn't have cash on hand for a tip, but my delivery guy gladly took a couple of blunts I just rolled. What a great place! read more

Food was great!! I had a calzone...it was loaded with toppings! When I ordered for delivery I specified that I was at a hotel. Immediately after hanging up, I thought about utensils, plates and napkins so I called back to specifically have these items added to my order, they agreed and even asked for how many people. The order arrives, I pay and tip the driver then he gives me my food....and surprise no utensils, plates, napkins, or anything else. When I asked the driver he stated that he was not told to bring them. I mentioned that since they knew the order was going to a hotel that maybe common sense should prevail and that stuff should be brought anyway, especially knowing the order contains food that normally required a fork and knife (not just a pizza or sandwich). It is such a simple thing to do to provide these items when delivering to a non-residential location like a hotel and especially when specifically requested!! The food was great so I most likely will order again, however the next time I will not tip BEFORE getting to see the order and whether or not the extras were brought as requested. In fact, I may even go a step farther and refuse the order if the extras are not there. read more

Expensive, but not worth it. I'm not against spending money on a good pie, but this wasn't that. We got cheese bread (It was supposed to be garlic bread, they sent the wrong item), and two pizzas, with delivery it was $60 after tip. Pizza was 45 minutes later than quoted (apparently the driver got lost on the quarter mile trip to our hotel, at least that's the story he gave us.) I found that suspect since he had pizzas for other rooms with him. I suspect he waited until they were all done, and just forced us to wait longer. Just a guess on that one though. The food arrived, we were famished, and none of the four of us liked either pie or the bread. We left 3/4 of the bread and nearly one whole pizza in the room when we checked out the next day as it just wasn't edible, so there was no reason to take it home with us. i got a large cheese/half chicken pizza as-well as the chicago cheese stick and i cant lie it was fire but you need the marinara sauce it elevates it by 30. as for the pizza it was gone within 4 minutes of eating i'm not lying, it's good hot, i haven't tried it cold tho so i cant speak for that. My first time to try this pizza joint. It started out a little rough as I was left on hold for 12 minutes. They finally got to me as I was pulling in. They were so apologetic since they had just got slammed with four large orders and accidentally forgot about me on hold. Well, after that I was welcomed warmly, like apart of this beautiful Italian family. I met the pizza maker papa, Angelo and his high tech son Mario (MJ) who promptly offered me a soda to enjoy while I waited for my 16" deluxe and 16" pepperoni pizzas. Cousin Ena (sp?) stopped in for hugs and to say hi and automatically helped out loading some of the large pizza orders for customers while visiting. This place was filled with true Italian family love that was so heart warming and contagious. I moved from this area to Upstate NY 40 years ago to a heavily Italian populated area "Which way E-J". And, I do get homesick when I come back to MI to visit family here, but they welcomed me with such Italian kindness that I immediately felt the warmth of home and I thank them deeply for that. Now, as to their pizza, it was top shelf NY style pizza with thin, crisp, yet chewy in-house made crust! The sauce (gravy) was home made with excellent spice and texture that complimented the toppings without being over bearing. The home made sausage was flavorful and their mozzarella was top shelf!!! Veggies were sliced nicely as was the ham and pepperoni. Yum. I was treated so warmly, I decided to enjoy some slices right there in the store before heading out with my take out. How could I not stay and eat with my newly found family!! Thank you for a great product, warmth and kindness bestowed upon me. Can't wait to try your lasagna on my next trip back to MI. Oh That Sauce!!! That's what the box says, that's what they're kinda famous for. That's the butt of a lot of jokes for obvious reasons. This spot has been serving up awesome pies for a long time, and under quite a few different owners. Originally started by Faro Uccello a bazillion years ago, the recipes haven't changed much, and the sauce! Oh the sauce! Some of Faro's original recipes worth trying: Lasagna, any pies, breadsticks, Manicotti, and oh man... the Spice Sub! Do it! I just ordered a couple pies and am about to pick 'em up... and they're going to be GREAT! I ordered a 14" with pepperoni, ham, and mushroom and a 14" deluxe with a side of breadstix with cheese. Oh yeah! Now Mike and company are in charge and they're GREAT... awesome quality food, great consistency, and excellent service and delivery. FARO'S is top notch! 4 stars for the pizza, -2 for really bad service. The first time I had Faro's, we had delivery, and everything was great. The second time, we decided to eat at the restaurant. Wish we hadn't because it totally changed my mind about what was once a really enjoyable pizza experience. We went in on a slow night, the day before Thanksgiving. When we walked in, there were three young-ish girls working, and no one greeted us, told us to sit down, or where to order. So, we just sort of stood there until, slightly annoyed, we finally sat ourselves, no thanks to the employees. We sat there for a while, waiting for acknowledgement (maybe a waitress to take our order or someone to tell us to go up to the register. Remember--we were the only people in the whole restaurant, so it isn't that they so swamped they couldn't look over the counter and acknowledge us. After their making it clear they weren't coming to us, we went up to the counter and placed our order. The girl who took our order wasn't mean, but wasn't friendly either. Took a little bit for the pizza to get out, and the breadsticks came out after the pizza, which is a little annoying, but I can forgive. Despite the tasty pizza (the food was great, just like the first time we had it), we left with a really bad taste in our mouths. As I said earlier, I wish we had never dined in because it tarnished what was a good little spot I would have liked to support. But, after being ignored, I can't, in good conscious, return. There are too many other great restaurants--that have great customer service--who better deserve my patronage. read more

Ordered delivery from Faro's twice, to my hotel room nearby. Delivery was fast and friendly but the food was only adequate. First order was a lasagna dinner which was HUGE and delicious. It comes with a full 8" sub bun made into garlic bread. The lasagna was a little heavy on the sauce, but was overall good. Second order I got was a cheese pizza and garlic bread with cheese (I like cheese!). The pizza was terrible and reminiscent of Chef Boyardee pizza. Pizza is very average. The chicken wings were some of the worst I've ever had. Very fatty, with bland sauce that I'm sure came straight out of a generic package. When I ordered carry out: Me: "I'd like an order for carry out" Staff person: "is this for delivery or pick up?" Me: "I said carry out." Staff person: (annoyed tone) "delivery or pick up?" Ordered delivery to our hotel room by the airport, and it arrived at the door (rather than the front desk) fast and hot, great service, friendly guy, worth a big tip. The pizza is great quality for West Michigan, flavorful crispy crust, not at all greasy, delicious toppings, sauce and cheese. Four stars instead of five because I didn't order extra cheese but hoo boy did it have a lot of cheese. Now I love my cheese but this was a hair much even for my taste. I can see how others could disagree with me, though, so I chalk this up to a matter of personal preference.
