Went back to Mitten after a visit that didn't quite hit last time, and it really confirmed my thought that that one was just a fluke. I've been here before and loved it, and this experience was much more in line with what I know them for. We took a quick walk over from our apartment and ordered the pepperoni and the pesto chicken pizzas and both were super flavorful, well-balanced, and just really, really good. The service was great too. Everything came out quickly, and we had two different staff members checking in on us, which made the whole experience feel easy and well taken care of without being over the top. Definitely lived up to everyone's high reviews! Loved the ambience and baseball theme. There was more seating than I'd thought, both indoor and outdoor! The beer was amazing, I loved the hazy IPA. We had 2 pizza flights so we tried almost all of them! The special of the day was a strawberry fields pizza with fresh strawberries & balsamic! The goat cheese pizza was also a hit! The one with the pork and Cajun aioli was so surprising! If you eat pork don't avoid it. They get their pork from across the road at too short and the aioli is soooo good. The outside seating is a fun environment it's cute and shaded. They have a long list of what's on tap! The service was super quick everything came out expeditiously and was hot and fresh. Very cool brewery right off the highway in Grand Rapids. It has indoor and outdoor seating, when the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is ideal, really cool area. They allow you to do pizza flights, which is really cool, I've never heard of any other place doing that. It allows you to try so many different flavors. I forget all the ones we ordered, but they were all good, had a variety of different meats and toppings. In terms of beer, I got the fogout and the hop hustle, both really good. I ended up getting a 4pack of the fogout to go, and my friends enjoyed it as well. Inside there's a lot of cool sports memorabilia on the wall, including a 1907 World Series program, featuring the Cubs and Tigers. So cool to see! Highly recommend if you live in the area, or just are passing through and need a good place to stop at. read more

Great as always! Took my mom here for an early Mother's Day dinner, because where else can you get a pizza flight? The Mitten is one of my fav spots for pizza in GR and I always forget to take pics when I'm here because I am too hungry when I go to think about it! I don't think I've ever gotten food here that I don't like but recently, I have started ordering salads and I am honestly surprised at how simple but GOOD they are! Like, their ingredients are so good and fresh that I absolutely love it! Not overly dressed and overdone, but well presented! I know that sounds silly but I feel like that should be something that people should really appreciate about a salad. Also, for the cost, you would think that it would be small... no, it's huge and you can easily share! I really need to come back with more people so I can get the pizza flight and try more of their flavors as I usually only come with my boyfriend and we get one pizza to share as we are trying not to have a billion pieces of pizza for leftover as we're trying to be "healthier" or something (hence ordering salads more often), but I always love the vibes here and the people are wonderful! Love this place! I've been here several times, but never reviewed. The beer selection is incredible with loads to choose from. I typically lean towards IPAs, and they have several. My wife likes pilsners and martzens, and she loved here German-style beer as well. The pizza is top-notch - that's what keeps us coming back. We had a few pizzas on their back deck and loved the ambiance. The pizza was delicious as well. My daughter's favorite thing on the menu is their garlic knots. Really the only things you should be getting here is The Big Show pretzel. If you don't get it, you'll see someone else getting it. From there, get the pizza flight. I think you get to choose six of the specialty options they have. Hog Heaven is the only one on the must-try list. Other than that, to each their own! Well holy goodness we have found some good pizza in Michigan! FINALLY! Went here last night after someone told us it was good and could not have been more pleased. My hubby and I got the bee stinger ( oMGee) my son got the cheese ( because hello, he's 16 and has no tastebuds) and our daughter got the gold of greens. Our bee stinger pizza was beyond fantastic, pepperoni, bacon, onion, jalepeno and hot honey? Chefs kiss. We also tried a couple of beers. I'm not really into Beer but ended up ordering a raspberry one which was great. We also tried a mini pretzel which I highly recommend. The only thing I was not sold on is their house salad, it was just ok and the croutons tasted stale but really who cares about a house salad when everything else is so great! our server names Brice was also fantastic and didn't treat us with annoyance when we came in 45 mins before close lol. So, if you want a super cool place to get some kick a** pizza and drinks you have to go here! I'm bummed I didn't take pics but we will be back for sure! read more

We would order pick up from this restaurant during COVID pretty often and loved all the pizza options. I had forgotten how welcoming and cozy the restaurant is. The decor is all baseball themed. Since this is a microbrewery there are a ton of drink options and flights to choose from. Their pizza is excellent and the many options are all wonderful. If you love a cheesy pizza this is a great place because you get an amazing cheese pull. Our go to items include the cheese breadsticks, Pepperoni pizza, the huge pretzel from the starter menu and of course their amazing pepperoni and jalapeno stromboli. All the items are buttery, salty, and so cheesy! The restaurant layout mainly has table seating and offers high chairs for kids. If you need a handicap parking space they offer one spot on the side of their building with a ramp entrance. If you come through the main doors you do have to step down into the restaurant (one step). Other parking options include side street or finding local lots in the area and walking to the restaurant. They also offer great customer service from the host to the server. They both made the visit enjoyable. We went on a Sunday and the restaurant was somewhat busy but before we asked for drinks the server was already coming with water! They were on top of it. The prices are also very comparable to local pizza places and chain restaurants too. Our pepperoni pizza was $13.99 and the cheese breadsticks were $10.99. Hands down, the best pizza in Grand Rapids. I moved from Chicago and we have been on a quest trying to find our "go to" pizza. After months of searching. We came here for a late lunch. Got the classic pepperoni with black olives and it was really good! We also got the mitten lager and west coast swing and they were great choices. The star of the show was our server who we forgot to get his name. Long hair, funny, and personable. Overall, I would recommend coming here for the experience. Are you ready for their pizza? You better be because it's gonna take you to another planet on how good it is! We had the field of greens (made on a kids size because we had dinner plans later). Also I love the Michigan paraphernalia and sports memorabilia decorated throughout the building. Plenty of TVs to keep everyone entertained too. We got there around 5 pm and beat the rush which made all the difference for service. On our exit, the line was out the door. Detroit deep dish is one thing, but this is some premium pizza. I have been going to The Mitten Brewing Co. for a number of years before going vegan on family trips to western Michigan. It was always an incredible experience. However, I hadn't been in a couple of years, and this was my first experience since going vegan. I let the friendly and awesome bar maid pick my dinner as long as it was vegan. She chose the vegan Pesto Chicken. It was so good! The crust is thin and crispy, they didn't skimp on the toppings, and the vegan "chicken" is some of the best I've ever had! I did inquire about it, and found that it is a soy and wheat based product. This pizza was so good I sat and ate the entire thing by myself! The atmosphere at Mitten is so fun and lively! I am not sure what changed - possible new staff, new management or both. We have frequented Mitten Brewing when in the area with no issues or complaints. We stopped in a week ago, on a Friday afternoon, when there were only 4 or 5 tables of people. We sat there for 15 minutes with no wait staff coming over to our table. The wait staff served tables directly to either side of us, and were then observed standing the bar just talking for several minutes; still no acknowledgment or service. After 20 minutes, we ended up getting up and leaving. Very disappointed. I try to give the benefit of the doubt but after seeing the staff walk past us, with no drinks or items on our table, with no acknowledgment for more than 15 minutes, that's hard to justify. Hopefully it was just a staffing issue and a learning experience. read more

Found this place via Yelp and with all the great reviews, had to try and it's didn't disappoint. Needed a place for dinner with co-workers that was casual. Waking in we were greeted by the host and sat quickly. The menu consists appetizers and pizza. For beverages Craft beers are aplenty with a few non beer options of a cider and sangria. I have never been to a pizza place where they are able to have each piece customizable ! This was so cool for me because I'm always indecisive when it comes to pizza! This place is in an older building near downtown and when you walk in has a really old but homey atmosphere. It's not very big so I can see where it would get packed especially on a busy Saturday night. Luckily, we were here on a Sunday afternoon and able to get a table in the back. We ordered some of their beer samples and it came out in a cute mitten when served. I really liked their different beers and it was reasonably priced as well. The pizza was really good overall and again the fact that we were able to get different flavors in one pie was awesome. Gluten free pizza flight is the stuff of dreams. We visited around 2pm for a late lunch and had no problems parking down the street in a resident area and choice of any seat as desired; which was great because it gave us opportunity to ask the waitress all the questions. We settled on an appetizer of gluten free Phil Sticks which had the perfect bit of heat and delicious buttery crust, we devoured them. Then for lunch we had a gluten free pizza flight and there wasn't a single pizza we wouldn't have enjoyed more of. Note that the flight says it feeds four however a gluten free flight is significantly smaller than a regular flight but worth it. The non-gluten free diner enjoyed a Stromboli who, and I still don't understand this, exclaimed there was just too much cheese which equated to more chewing than she desired. However, when it cooled down and the cheese was no longer melty, she said it was much better. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back again. read more

We came on the Sunday before Memorial Day around 6:15. We were told there would be a 45 min wait, we ended up waiting about an hour. Since we've never been here before, we wanted to try a few items in the menu so we were happy they offer a pizza flight as well as a beer flight. Choose 6 pizzas off the menu including the special of the day. Each option comes in 4 pieces (about a 4-5 in circle). We chose Mediterranean, Mac Daddy, Pepperoni, Deluxe, Hog Heaven, (pulled pork), Westerdog (coney dog). All were really good. We also ordered the pickle play breadsticks and cheese bread.
