We did try to catch them ourselves, but they weren't biting! LOL. Instead of going out to eat at a restaurant, I suggested we do a takeout order to be able to take our time and fully enjoy at home. Years ago, we had the crabs at a restaurant and it took me HOURS to pick them! I think my brother-in-law felt bad (and the rest of the family was getting impatient) and started picking the last few for me, because it was taking soooooo long! He suggested we go to Crab Knockers, a local seafood shop that sells fresh seafood, but that also cooks it for you! Inside, they have old arcade games with a fishing themed decor. They have a case full of seafood with a combo of locally sourced and brought in from other places. The shop was quite busy with a steady flow of patrons. We got 2 dozen blue crabs, steamed with J.O. seasoning (medium spice) and it came out to roughly $60! It took about 20-25 minutes or so. When we got home, we got right to work. My brother-in-law showed me the proper way Marylanders (is that the proper term?) and I think I got the hang of it by the 3rd crab hahaha. Even my oldest managed well! Crabs were delicious! Some claws were a little overcooked, but that's just the nature of seafood and takeout. The body meat was perfect! There is a lot of work for these little guys, but it fed me and my oldest as our only dinner and a few other family members who ate one or two. We even had enough crab meat for two crab cakes for breakfast the next day! I highly suggest checking them out. It's less expensive and less work in terms of cooking (and mess)! A gentleman came over (with a cute elf hat on) and he took the time to answer any questions that we had about the different trees. He showed us the area that had the size trees we were interested in getting. He told us to be careful as the ground was saturated from the melting snow. He was so kind to my granddaughter and even agreed to pose for a picture with her. The selection of trees was better the any we had seen elsewhere, it was clean and the trees were organized by size and price with plenty of room to walk around each tree. I told Will, the man that was helping us, that Chesapeake Bounty will be my go to not only for our yearly Christmas tree but all year round! Thank you for the Christmas cheer and Merry Christmas!!

Grew up in Charleston, we would get our own oysters, crabs, shrimp, fish, so I know what good seafood is. Richmond has some respectable seafood but nothing like I had a Shoreline today. The owner and operator was most inviting and helpful. I only spent about 30 minutes inside but observed so many items that were inviting and worthy of another trip. I was able to purchase some items for upcoming events and admired several others. The shop even has sensory toys for children that could benefit from sensory toys. The shop has a set of handcrafted items by young artist as well as teas by an organization called Skirted Soldier - which is a female Veteran Owned company. I cannot wait to try the Cold Weather Gear tea (gingerbread house black tea). This bag of loose tea includes tea bags. Nice touch! I enjoy shopping and supporting local and/or small businesses.
