Service was beautiful. I'll add the waitress' name when I look at the receipt. The drinks were tasty and strong. Our 5 children thoroughly enjoyed their 4 orders of mozzarella sticks, cheeseburger, chicken strips, and fries. The bathrooms were clean. They even had a handwashing place for people outside of the bathroom. Our experience was 100%.

First time here on the recommendation of a friend. Apparently this is a Southern Maryland institution. Only open limited days a week and the seafood is as advertised - tasty 'n fresh. I had a soft shell crab cake sandwich & crinkle cut fries. I wish they had grilled the bread. Plain buns with nothing on them are dry. Added nothing to the sandwich so I drowned it in hot sauce. She had crab balls which are basically rolled crab cakes dipped in cornmeal. The hush puppies come with a honey glazed dip, which was particularly interesting. I had a couple of Long Island iced teas which were served in middle school 12 oz plastic cups (hard plastic, not the disposal kind). Nice condiment tray featuring real hot sauce (Texas Pete) and even Lea & Perrins Worcestershire (unusual) among assorted other condiment favorites. Everything was good and it was a nice Saturday afternoon stop. I'm sure I'll return at some point. They got crowded mid-afternoon. We arrived at noon when they opened - and the place was full and hour later. Service was quite pleasant and everything is cooked to order so the food took a while, about 30-40 minutes. Parking on-site. Spartan interiors with very "homey" feeling.

Visited for my first crab feast of the summer and had a great experience! It's got all the seafood-shack charm you want for this kind of meal. The restaurant is surprisingly large and very casual with classic Maryland decor everywhere you look. We're new to the Southern Maryland crab scene and found this place thanks to a neighbor's recommendation. We came in with a large group, but luckily you can call the day before (and only the day before!) to make a reservation. We ordered two dozen hard crabs, they were coated with Old Bay (as they should be) and medium sized but full of plenty of meat in early June. There's lots on the menu for the non-crab eaters, the hush puppies were another favorite--they're served with a few different tasty sauces and butters. Our server was great and stayed on top of the mess that comes along with picking crabs. Prices are reasonable, especially if you're used to the Delaware/Maryland beach prices like me. One thing to keep in mind - the steamer shuts down at 7:30pm, so don't come too late if you want anything from the Steamed Seafood menu. We had a 7pm res and got our orders in just in time. Great spot overall, I'm sure we'll be back!

Excellent!!! Sweet, heavy, nicely seasoned thru and thru=empty tray

No frills crab house. The way a true crab house of real deal crabs should be. The service was professional and timely. No needles banter. This isn't the side of Maryland for all of the that. The servers worked timely to accommodate. A nice atmosphere to bring the entire fam. Will definitely be back.

This is an example of the Classic southern Maryland seafood restaurant, with a clean dining room and family atmosphere. Simple menu is seafood-centered, with a range of modifications for guests to select for cooking their meal. Local feature items are abundant, even the bar menu has a local distillery's product well represented. Corn (in season) is sweet, crunchy and plump. The sweet potato fries and cookie slaw are worth coming back for! Prices are fair. Highway location is convenient, but not near other attractions or destinations.

There are surprising number of chicken options here for a place called, "This Is Seafood", but not quite as many seafood options as I hoped. I was really looking forward to getting an order of fried scallops for lunch and I was a little disappointed they didn't have them on the menu. I decided to get the Combo #4: 3 whole wings, 6 fried shrimp, and my choice of 1 piece of fish and side dish. For my fish, I chose fried catfish and for my side I chose hush puppies. The combo also came with a fountain drink. I decided to mix their house-made lemonade and house-made iced tea and it made the perfect half-and-half. The wait wasn't too bad, as the food was being freshly made. It was piping hot and crispy when I received it. Those shrimp were huge! Some of the biggest fried shrimp I've ever had...And not those butterfly shrimp either. Whole shrimp, and the tail was removed so I didn't have to worry about accidentally crunching on one of the shells. The catfish was delectable! Perfectly seasoned, delightfully crispy, and absolutely melted in my mouth. So good. I'm coming back for the catfish if nothing else. The wings were perfectly fried, nice and crispy, but they were a bit too light on the seasoning for my taste. And the mumbo sauce tasted too similar to barbecue sauce. I did not like that, so I ended up saving the rest of the wings until I got home to put my own mumbo sauce on them. The hush puppies were also really good. I like that they were fried perfectly and weren't greasy... Even after reheating them. Overall, my lunch cost me about $25 and it was enough food for at least two meals. Can't beat that. I'll be back for that catfish.

I ordered the two pieces of tilapia, six jumbo shrimp, one crabcake, and it came with fries and two hush puppies. Everything was amazing and reminded me of home. All of the food was cooked crispy, and it was not soggy or floppy. Everything was seasoned perfectly, not over season or under season. And the service was quick, it might have took 10 minutes. We loved Randolph's On The River. It was clean and nice with a wonderful view, nice people, and…read moregood food. Yesterday was different. Sadly, very different. Randolph's is expensive. It is a seafood restaurant and we expect to pay more for good, fresh seafood. We cannot do that often and it had been a year since we had been there. Our experience yesterday was so disappointing, I doubt we will be back. First, little things: there was no beer on tap, the cold cases were not labeled correctly with dessert names holding wine and other unknown items. The sign outside with the name of the restaurant is long past time to be refreshed. It was barely readable. The number of tables had been reduced and there were pieces of tables outside and in the dining room. It appeared that there was only one person in the kitchen and the TV blared some "reality" show instead of music playing. It still was cute and clean but it felt like something that was nearly ready for the final lap. Second, the food: the pictures shown here are "before" pictures. The crab cake sandwich, for example, was the cheapest crab meat you can buy (yes, bordering on "goo") breaded and fried. It had more binder than crab. Unlike the pictures, you could not see pieces of crab and you could not taste crab. Let me recap in order. We ordered steamed spicy shrimp. They came out and looked great. Something was wrong. I've never needed so much effort to peel a shrimp. Husband used a fork to split the shell off of the shrimp. I ended up chewing a lot of shrimp shells because I could not get them peeled off. We also ordered the Captain's Platter to share. It is huge and that's the best thing I can say about it. They were out of scallops so we substituted fried oysters and picked catfish and our two sides. The catfish, oysters and hush puppies were fine. The crab cake was, as mentioned above, terrible. Not 'disappointing.' Not 'not good.' Not 'room for improvement': terrible. Embarrassingly terrible. Our meal came out without the sides. Our waitress was busy with the one other seated table in the place having a long conversation about tattoos and tattoo places in Fredericksburg and was heading back to the kitchen when we flagged her down. By the time our sides were out, we had finished the main course. The mac and cheese and the twice baked potatoes had just come out of the oven so the were blazing hot. Let me be clear: they cooked our main and sent it out and then started firing the sides. Actually they probably cooked some else's food and then fired our sides. The mac & cheese was fine, the twice baked potato skin was so charred, it was inedible and the inside of the potato was, well... mush. It looked like they had put it in a blender resulting in a tasteless paste consistency. And then the too-hot-to-eat food was presented to us after we had finished the main. Hubs ordered iced tea, I ordered water to drink. They were nearly the same color. To describe his tea as "weak" is a kindness. Something nice: The person who waited on us was very nice and did her best. Here's the best part: we dropped $60 for two people sharing app and entree. For $60, we could have had a nice meal served in proper order that had texture and taste. Instead we got unseasoned, tasteless gruel (with the exception of the catfish) that was way below "not good." Randolph's On The River will now just be a fond memory and not a special place to go. That makes me very sad.
