This place is OK. I was staying in the area and needed to get my nails ready for a week of events…read more I called at 9AM on a Tuesday morning when they opened, and they were able to give me an appointment for 10:30, which was the time I requested The salon was in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. It looked clean and modern. They played cooking shows on the TV screens, which I enjoy. I was seated at a pedicure chair right away and given a choice of colors for my gel manicure and regular pedicure. I did ask to ensure that they would not use the electric sander on my nails. I was quite pleased to find that they never use that for gel nails, a policy that I wish more salons would adopt. There were only two customers when I arrived, but people began to shuffle in during the time I was there. The pedicure was fine. I appreciate that they did not try to upsell me, but I do think it would have been nice to have more services such as a bit more of a massage or some more scrubs. It was quite basic and I wasn't offered other options. I was then moved to the manicure table after the pedicure was complete. Like the pedicure, it went by quite quickly. Not that it is necessary, but the staff really made no attempt to have a conversation at all. I'm OK with it, but they could have come across a little friendlier. No one was rude at all, but it just wasn't the warmest environment. As far as the manicure, I liked the color, but the gel dried unevenly with a few bumps here and there which annoyed me. Also it just wasn't quite the length or shape that I requested. All in all, I was glad that they were able to get me in and it was a decent service at a reasonable price. However, I do feel that the services were quite basic and it wasn't the best looking manicure that I've had.

There are lots of price points for pedis, which I appreciated. The salon was very clean and the employees all seemed to be in good moods, which is a great sign near closing time on a Saturday. Overall a good experience with a couple of minor issues…read more One, I got here at 2:15 on a weekday. There was only one person getting a manicure and the salon was quiet. Guy at front grabs the gel color swatches and hands to me then directs me to a pedicure chair in the back. I have never been here before so the process was new. A cute older lady was setting up the chair for me and did most of the pedicure treatment. She didn't seem to speak much English but pointed to the pedicure price menu. She also showed me the volcano pedi menu hoo wee that would be a real treat for a special occasion but too rich for my blood. I had gel that needed to be removed and I get it that it is a bit time consuming. But daaaang the pedicure and mani took FOREVER. I appreciate a nail place taking time to have attention to detail and not rushing but this was a very long mani pedi. When the polish was removed the guy from the front took over. He smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke it was a bit of a turnoff. He did however make sure I was happy with the selection of gel color and explained that the confetti gel was clear. And that I might want a solid color under it so I chose white. It was a good choice and I am very happy with the gel color. He also shaped my fingernails very nicely. The color was applied very carefully and I have had a lot of compliments. What wasn't that great in the visit besides the long a$$ time was he cut me a few times with a very sharp tool. Near the end of the pedi he pressed down on the cut with a towel and said he has cut me and will put medicine on it. He put some white cream on the cut. The lady had also nicked me, which was disappointing. The other not so great thing was at the end when I was paying. I gave the guy a cash tip and paid for the service on a card. I was getting my keys out to leave and the guy asked if I wanted him to split the tip with the lady? What? Is that a passive aggressive way to say I needed to give another tip to the lady as well? It was a bit rude and a turnoff. Overall the gel was very nice but such a long time to get done especially when I was the only customer there most of the time.

I went to receive a pedicure this past Tuesday evening and am now on a 7 day treatment for MRSA per my primary care physician. I work at a hospital and already was fearful about the possible risk of infection, despite them using sanitary prepackaged tools they opened in front of me. They literally cut both my big toe nails (curved not square as necessary for pedicures to prevent an infection or ingrown toenail) all the way down into my nail bed and my left foot was bleeding. Not only that but the technician left before I was out of my chair and after requesting only a clear coat asked if I wanted color after he had already cut off a sizable portion of my large toenails. Not only was I not given a refund, but they downplayed the entire situation. They said what do you want us to do? The nail is already gone. They even called me after I left and had them take pictures in an attempt to rectify the situation in some way by offering me to come back in 3 weeks for a free pedicure. To be clear I would NEVER let them touch my feet again. I called the Health Department and they don't even investigate nail salons in the state of Illinois. You have to go through the state to make a report. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, always go to a reputable source that you know keeps updated licenses and truly cares about the health, integrity, sanitation and quality care of your body!!! Had I had a choice I would have gone to Alyssa at Lyss Laid It. Absolutely an unforgivable customer experience. Please save yourself the worry and possibility of infection or something worse and do not frequent this establishment.
