She needs to retire. 1) Lost dress - we stood there while we worried about what happened to the dress... she had so many scenarios. None of them good. 2) We made another appointment to pick up the dress again - shop is closed. 3) I went to pick up the dress today and, let me tell you this is a mean, nasty woman, not the kindly grandma that reminded my husband of his Grammy. He liked coming with us to the shop. My daughter just loved the way she "flirted" with her dad. The image of the wonderful mother and grandmother and great-grandmother she portrayed to us (we actually would sit with her after fittings and she would tell us stories) quickly vanished today. I will need to find another seamstress. Her husband recently passed away, so we were trying to be patient with her, ... I was thinking that maybe she's just nasty because of her recent loss until I read reviews and the Facebook battle she had with a woman in 2020. And she told me that she can tell I'm not a trusting person, I usually am, but I can never trust Anne to do any other alterations. So she's right, I'm not trusting of her. read more

I brought my wedding dress here for a simple hem and strap adjustment. When I returned to try on the dress, I discovered four visible holes torn in the fabric of the skirt and train, damage that was highly visible and was not there when I dropped it off. When I brought this to Anne's attention, she became immediately defensive and dismissive. Rather than showing concern or taking responsibility, she responded with hostility and made it very uncomfortable to even discuss the issue. Due to her reaction and the lack of accountability, I no longer felt comfortable leaving my dress with her. I was entrusting and paying a professional to handle my property with care and now, due to the damage that said professional caused, I have to find another seamstress to do repairs, with only a month left until my wedding, and at additional cost. Additionally, I was never informed that someone else, not Anne, would be taking the dress off-site to perform the alterations. I was led to believe that she would be handling everything personally, based on her repeated references to her years of experience. This lack of transparency was extremely troubling, especially considering the damage that occurred. What should have been a joyful step in my wedding planning turned into an upsetting and stressful ordeal. I would strongly caution anyone against bringing a valuable or sentimental item here, especially for something as meaningful and time sensitive as a wedding. I wish I had looked closer at the reviews on here because many of the reviews here echo my experience and I would implore you to consider them carefully before calling. read more

For someone who owns a business, I have never met such a rude lady in my entire life. I do not understand how she can be so rude, when you are so polite to her in the first place! I took my dress here that I was literally swimming in because of how much fabric there was, and she literally told me nothing was wrong with it and then asked me what I want her to do about it! I said, I am tripping over my shoes, and she cut off 2 inches at the bottom. When I went to pick up the dress, I had to wait 15 minutes for her to come out, and then she proceeded to yell at me for being rude for yelling Hello to see if anyone was there. I will never recommend this place, as all the bridesmaids in our bridal party were all met with the same rude customer service and side comments. read more

This is the first time I've gotten something like this done in the Lehigh Valley, so don't know what the typical rate is. It cost me $50, and she did a wonderful job. You can choose to read the details. 1- She is SO RUDE(she yelled at me) 2- She miss placed my dress 3- Denied, she mis- placed it and said she couldn't get it done in time until I said I was coming to get it. 4- She was so unbelievably RUDE 5- My hem was 2in (or so) un even. I do not like leaving bad reviews, but I don't want someone to go through what I did, and it was only a brides maid dress not my wedding Dress. To start, she is SO UNBELIEVABLY RUDE! first she asked me "what do you want?" As the professional, she should be able to see where the dress needs to be fixed. I took out my phone to show her what I wanted and she screamed at me, yes yelled at me for having my phone. I almost walked out and wish I did. she does her thing, gives me a date to return , when I do, the dress is not to be found. She said, don't worry one of my girls must have it come back Friday , I call to make sure (Wednesday).. she says it won't be done by Friday and she never "misplaced it" I reminded her of what happen And that I was coming to pick up the dress. She said why ? We went back forth for a bit, where she continued to be rude... anyway... she agreee to get it done by Friday at 4:30(it was not ready and I had to wait). and .... Now that my sister's wedding is over, I finally made time to sit and write this review. Do NOT go to Fashions by Anne. This place was highly recommended by others (I don't know why). Immediately when I arrived, the seamstress was looking for another man's pants and saying to herself over and over again that she didn't remember where she put them... already a great start. My sister's wedding was in October and I was her maid of honor. I brought my dress in and asked for the bottom to be hemmed and the straps to be shortened a little bit so that my chest was not falling out. I was measured and told it would not be a problem and that there was plenty of time. I went back the following week on my pick up date for the dress and was told that it was not done because the tag fell off and she did not know whose it was. I was upset that I had not received a call and that she was so quick to lose my tag. She said I still had enough time that she was able to fix it so I walked away hopeful. When I came back a couple days later, I tried the dress on and could barely breathe. The straps were shortened a lot more than we had discussed and the dress hem where my chest was supposed to be was way too high. I told her that I could not breathe and she told me that it was okay and that she could easily take the dress out a few inches, so once again I left hopeful. After several days, I did not receive a call that anything was wrong so I had assumed that my dress was ready and went to pick it up a couple days later on the date I was given. When I arrived, I was told that there was nothing that could be done about the dress. I was very mad and questioned why I was not called if she could not do anything about it because I could have taken it somewhere else. The seamstress then started to argue with me, telling me that no one else could have done anything because the dress just did not fit me because I was too big. Keep in mind that I was on a diet and was losing weight. I responded saying that the dress fit me properly when I brought it in. The seamstress told me that there's nothing she can do about it and that I owe her $60. As she was getting a dress bag, I noticed how terribly sewn it was and how part of the string on the arm strap was coming loose and so I told her. She then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault and I must have been pulling on the string, because it wasn't like that before. I was livid but I paid and walked away because I don't like confrontation. My mistake. However, when I got home to try the dress on, I was poked in my stomach by a sewing needle that was sewn into the hem of the dress. My fiancé went back with me to confront her about it and she proceeded to say that she did not place the needle there and told me that I had done it. My fiancé had some choice words for her and she told us that we needed to get out of her establishment and then proceeded to call the police on us. All I can say is that I have never felt so disrespected by a business owner and I do not think she deserves to run a business. She is beyond rude. She seemed to be unable to keep track of anything and try to put all of the blame on me for her mistakes. I do not like how the situation was handled and I strongly recommend that you do not give Fashions by Anne your business. read more

Do not take your wedding dress here. It's an absurdly long story, but to make a long story short, she had my dress for 9 weeks (up until 3 days before my wedding!!!), ruined the waist of the dress, it was still ill-fitting, and she forgot a bunch of things she was supposed to do (cups, a belt, trim the tulle). When I told her I was unhappy with it (very kindly, mind you. I could have bridezilla'd her about a thousand times, and didn't), she immediately started SCREAMING at me on the phone. She made me cry, 3 days before my wedding. I ended up leaving the dress with her and wearing a different dress last minute. I took my bridesmaid dress there and was to pick it up on 9/3/21 I didn't go that day I called on 9/7/21 and they said my dress was done and gave me an appointment for today. My mother took her simple A-line, spaghetti strap gown here for alterations to wear it for my wedding. It should have been a simple job. Unfortunately, her dress was not altered correctly and she had to go back and ask for it to be altered correctly. It was fixed, but it was quite a hassle. In short, the dress she brought in was about 2 sizes two big, and instead of bringing it in all around, the dress was only brought in around the shoulders and armpits instead of down the entire torso. Bad job. And the seamstress was not understanding. I'm writing this post because my mother heard that her friend's daughter brought her bridal gown here for alterations and it was ruined. I needed my bridesmaids dress altered last minute and she had it done right on time, very quickly. Very nice little lady and a hard worker.

Recently went there to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed and the straps shortened. When I went back to pick up the dress, I tried it on and it was fine except for a loose stitch on one strap. She took it to the back to quickly sew and brought it back to me a few minutes later wrapped up in a bag. When I put the dress on the morning of the wedding, the straps were COMPLETELY uneven and crooked (probably 2-3 inches off). I paid $65 and she refused to refund my money. Let's start with my final fitting was definitely for 3 pm and she agrued with me that it was for 4 then she told me that the dress wasn't complete so she couldn't take me until the dress was ready and she had a 330 appointment that never showed. So 45 minutes later I was able to try my dress on. The bustle came out crooked, oh and then I found 3 brown stains on the lace that looks like burn marks that Anne swears she didn't do but they weren't there before. She didn't steam or press the dress so now I have to spend the additional money to have all that fixed. Worst $225 dollars spend of this wedding and ever. Horrible service. Anne has a serious problem admitting when she has made a mistake on a dress alteration. A simple hem to a dress is not a difficult job. My daughter's lining was hanging out the bottom of the dress after she shortened the dress. She was instructed to shorten the outside lace of a dress that had a slip underneath. She was not to touch the slip but just to leave 1" of lace overhang. My daughter was physically there for the fitting. Not only did she disagree with me but also tried to come up with a few excuses as to why this occurred. In the end she had to shorten the liner and the overall dress is now shorter then what we wanted. Would not recommend this tailor. I understand mistakes happen but to try to lie and make up excuses for your mistake is unprofessional. read more

If you need something tailored in a rush- this is the place to go. I got sent the wrong size bridesmaid dress, and by the time the correct size got sent to me (it was on backorder and took forever), I only had 10 days before the wedding. I needed the dress to be hemmed and taken in on each side at the top. Anne was the only place that I called that didn't simply tell me "there is no way I can do that on such short notice". Anne made an appointment for me that Saturday (what other tailor is even open on a Saturday?!). She told me there would be a rush charge, but I could have the dress by Wednesday, for a Friday wedding. I went to pick up the dress, terrified that something else would go wrong, and it fit perfectly. She even steamed it, so it looked beautiful. The whole thing cost me $72. It was a bit expensive, and that is why I took a star away, but if you are ever in a bind- Fashions by Anne is the place to go. Anne is so helpful and understands that things happen and sometimes rush alterations are necessary. I will go back to her for every future alteration. read more

Took a bridesmaid dress to be altered and was kindly greeted by the owner who had me try on the dress and pinned the areas that needed to be taken in. she had the dress done for me earlier than anticipated. Anne was very nice and reasonably priced ( a few dollars cheaper than the others). I think she is the owner & operator of the business, so she may not have the time to be extremely personable to each client at EVERY visit. I am pleased with results and the price. Anne is such a nice seamstress. She is very flexible with scheduling and often has the work done in a week or two (or sooner if needed). I have gone to her for 4 bridesmaids dresses over the past year. She has assisted me with simple things like a hem to shorten it, and also more complex tasks like taking a dress in (down 2 sizes!) and adding cups. Her pricing is reasonable. Her shop is pretty small so I don't think I'll go to her for my wedding dress because I want more room to be able to look in the mirror and move around; however, I definitely recommend her for a bridesmaids dress, prom dress or something similar. read more

Do not take your wedding dress here! I went to 3 fittings. All of which she didn't want to take in the big parts of my dress (it was huge). However when she did take it in, she didn't remove the decals and just tucked them into the side of the dress! My dress was then lumpy and unflattering. When I confronted her, she told me that's how dresses look. The top of my dress was also big and needed to be altered. She tucked it in under my armpits... where the illusion part of my dress was! You could see the alterations. It looked awful. I had to take it else where to undo all of the "alterations" and redo it properly to fit me (with less then a month to my wedding). My sister also got her bridesmaid dress done at the same time. She returned the dress to my sister uneven and holes all over it! This place was the definition of a wedding dress nightmare. I took two junior bridesmaid dresses to get just about 1-2 inches off. The dress had two thin layers. It was pretty simple. I asked for a price and wanted to show her the dress, but she insisted that she couldn't give me a price without seeing the dress on. She absolutely refused to even give me an estimate of more or less how much it would be. Each dress would have been $40 to just take off 2 inches and it was a real simple dress with a chiffon skirt. I decided not to get it done, and she had the audacity to still charge me $10 without even telling me upfront. I only went here because Valet Tailor wouldn't have our dresses ready in time, but they are typically the place I go to for good quality work at a reasonable price. I suggest Valet Tailor instead or any laundromat that can do it. read more

Wow probably the worst experience I ever had! I took my wedding dress to Anne to get sized and she was so rude to me right from the start. I needed simple alterations basically just taken in on the sides. When I told her it needed to be taken in more she laughed at me. I also wanted the dress hemmed and she told me she couldn't do it. ???? I thought she was a seamstress? I was so excited to be trying my dress on and she ruined the whole experience. She acted like me being in her business was annoying. Anyway I left my dress there due to the fact Bethlehem has very few places that do alterations. I went home and decided I did not like the way I was treated and I decided to go get my dress back. I went back a few weeks later and when I walked in Anne again didn't even acknowledge me. When I asked for the dress back she asked me why I wanted it back I told her that I found someone else. She went to get the dress and when she brought it out she told me I needed to pay her 10$ ??? I had a horrible experience with Anne! Not only was she rude to me and my mother, she insisted... and by insisting, she was yelling that she was not. Let me start with just a few of the rude and unprofessional things she did.. I took my wedding dress, which is a vintage 1960s wedding dress to her to have her alter it to fit me. Not only did she try and make it what she thought looked nice, she called my dress "ugly" when I refused to do to it what she thought needed to be done. Not that I want any special treatment but I have brain cancer and have gone through treatments so I have no hair. I tried to explain to her that I would like her to make a cap to match my dress....she insisted that she needed something to cover so I looked and looked and finally found a form that was similiar to the look I wanted. My thought should have been...leave! I figured she could make one from scratch but she said she needed a "mold"!!??? Isnt she claiming to be a dress maker??? The wedding dress experience is something a woman looks forward to and believe me if I could go back I would steer clear. She got the dates mixed up and was angry with us when we called her a few times to check on my cap which was 3 days before my wedding. Not only did she wait till last minute to do it...she acted like we were inconviencing her when we called her 3times.. What??? Then when I went to pick up my cap... I told her how upset I was that I had a bad experience and thought she was very unprofessional. She started saying I cant believe you are saying that...over and over. Anyway, when I left I told her I was going ro pray for her and she ran after me and said that I cannot pray for her because I was "living" in sin. This woman should not be allowed to touch wedding gowns, she nearly destroyed mine. She stitched pink thread into it without realizing it. The fit was horrible, she turned my fit and flare nearly into an A line. My gown came back missing buttons that she no longer had. When confronted, she acted like they were never there, took no responsibility for their loss, and gave no apology. Luckily I contacted a bridal shop that sent me replacements. She told me she would sew them on while I waited and I got my dress back a week later, 3 days before the wedding. There was a large gap where the buttons had been sewn on way off center so we removed them and my mother in law sewed them back. On top of it, I was overcharged (I think she billed me for time she spent correcting her own mistakes). She did not remember that she altered my husband's suit in the same time frame. She did not remember meeting him. She's not nearly as pleasant as she first seems and comes off as being very judgemental. She should retire, I would never recommend her to anyone. When my daughter got married a few years' ago the girls in the bridal party went to Anne. She seemed totally uninterested in what needed to be done. She showed absolutely no emotion at all. When it was time to pick up the dresses, they had not even been pressed/steamed!! That would have been an extra cost! Needless to say, we ended up at a dry cleaner in Hellertown to have them pressed. This woman nearly RUINED my wedding dress!! It took $250 and another seamstress to fix what she did. I am absolutely disgusted with the work that was done. And what's even worse is she made me feel that it was my fault and I was crazy for thinking it looked bad. She actually told me to think about losing a few pounds so my dress would fit right!! I'm 125 lbs and 5'5" so I wouldn't consider myself overweight. She gave me A LOT of attitude when I pointed out what was wrong and charged me an addition $22 to fix it. (And she didn't actually do anything! She kept it for a week longer and it was exactly the same mess as before). She used GLUE to secure one of the straps for goodness sake. The other seamstress was appalled when she saw what was done. The alterations requested were simple - adjust the straps, take in the bust area, add cups, a bustle, and take in a little in the hip area. And she butchered the dress. I would avoid this place. Unfortunately the seamstress I took my dress to is in another state (I had my wedding in my hometown) so I can't exactly recommend her to everyone here. But this place should be closed! read more

Anne doesn't even deserve a one star review. This is my first time giving a review. I am very easy going and don't really have the time but I had a horrible experience and feel the need to let people know what will happen to them if they come here. Anne is rude and unprofessional and the reason I went to her was because of her 25 years of experience. Well she should retire because it is clear that she doesn't know what she is doing. I went to her to have a hem and pads sewn in for my gown for my sons wedding. I thought this was a simple alteration. She was booked and couldn't allow me to pick up my dress until 10 days before the wedding. When I went there the pads were clearly too big and you could see the stitches sewn in through material and there was a stain right in the front of the dress. The hem was two inches too short. When I pointed out all of her mistakes she was rude and blamed it all on me being difficult. She told me straight out that there was no stain and I continued to show it to her and she told me "I was crazy" I have NEVER experienced someone being so rude and not taking responsibility for their work. After nights of hysteria. I ended up having to scramble to find a new dress and have alterations somewhere else. She single handedly ruined what was supposed to be a happy time in my life.
