The other brach closer to downtown, USELESS. it's located on the 2nd floor of some kind School office. Zero parking. My sister and I have recently lost our mother to leukemia, and are navigating how best to manage her accounts. My mom was an educator and had been banking with the California credit union for a very long time. As we are trying our best to upkeep and make payments on loans that my mom had, we came to this credit union location for help. Firstly not all branches are created equal, God forbid that you start a process at one location and than go to a different location to seek help. We came in this location with the purpose of paying for a loan, (that's right, we are trying to give the bank money). Unfortunately with all the innovations in technology, transferring money digitally is an insufficient way to make a payment. Payments can only be accepted thru a check and cash money. Now not being able to make a payment digitally is an inconvenience for sure, but having to deal with a person who refers to them selves as "the boss", is like being put thru the first ring of hell. We informed them about our situation and as we are unfamiliar, we thought we'd seek and advice of an expert (the people that work there). What we learned: - You should never try and visit different bank locations - You aren't allowed to know any information about the accounts, even with a death certificate, copies of a trust, and documentation from a lawyer - It is the bank managers sole purpose to be unhelpful and condescending - It's not the banks fault, it's your fault After looking for guidance on how we need to proceed in order to make a payment for our deceased mother loan, I was talked at in the lobby by "the boss" for probably a good 10 to 15 mins. It is one thing to be unhelpful but it's a completely different thing to be treated as if you are an idiot. Nothing was accomplished, many things were learned, and unfortunately we will still have to navigate our deceased mothers accounts with this Bank. Fortunately enough, there are other branches and if you aren't limited by your ability to travel, I would suggest not visiting this one. By the way, after getting me frustrated to the point of tears, "I am sorry about your mom" doesn't make anything about the way I was treated better. We never wanted anyones sympathy, all we wanted was some help. Advice to "the boss", do better.

However, their footprint in the US is very modest with a small branch in the same building as the Philippine Embassy. What is lacking in office square footage, they make up in terms of service. Although, they only have 2 teller windows, one will not feel rushed & attentive full service is given. Such is the case with my father's Peso account. He did not have the account number nor his social security number to identify his balance with the bank. And thanks to the effort of Rolf, he was able to locate the account just by name & branch the account was opened. To top it off, Rolf suggested for my father to check his Social Security deposits with the Consulate Office while he is there to save time & have assurances that he will still receive his pension every month from thereon.

Lastly, with the number of staff they have and the people they assist daily it's overwhelming to them but they still try their best to help all of us! God Bless everyone! Today, waited 20 minutes in line to speak with a teller and ask for quarters. When I got to the teller, she said I could only get $20 worth. Often, other tellers will be nice and give me $50 worth, so I asked politely and let her know I had waited a long time. This teller then stated that the actual company policy on quarters is that only clients with business accounts are eligible for $20 quarter withdrawals, and that personal banking clients are only eligible for $10 quarter withdrawals. I only have personal accounts at BofA, so she passed me a single role of quarters and gave me a receipt. In summary, this teller initially offered me $20 in quarters, and then after I asked her for more, she decided that I should only get $10 as a personal banker. Basically, I got power tripped over a request for quarters, really appreciate the service BofA Echo Park. I think I will be closing my account here soon. Although the location of this bank is convenient, the service is so up and down and today was a big waste of time. I would avoid using this bank if possible.

Then the security guard follows me inside and just stares at me, I ask if he needs something, and he says HES WATCHING MEEEE 2nd, when I walked in ALL the staff stopped what they were doing, even came out of their office to stare at me. Omggggg I know it's Koreatown but seriously, have they never even SEEN Black people? . Obviously I'm never going back. I have only been to this branch (Olympic) and the Wilshire Branch but I like the Olympic branch because of the convenient parking. Obviously the rate will vary depending on your term, but if you open up a Savings account with them, you will get an even better great rate. Random note: a cashier's check is only $5. At first, I thought this was expensive because until very recently, I had never needed a cashier's check before but my other bank (Chase) charges $8 for cashier's checks so I guess $5 is actually pretty good.
