Slower than molasses. Only me and another person in the waiting room. They are just chatting and laughing in the back of office and not even attending to patients. I'm here for a simple drug test and it should not take this can't long.

What they gave me to get an IV for... I told them I have food poisoning

This is the third and last time I try Fast med urgent care. I was referred here by my PCP because I was severely dehydrated and needed a fluid IV because I had food poisoning for the past three days. They say "walk in clinic" on the website but proceeded to tell me they have appointments booked the whole day for every 15 minutes. There were three nurses sitting around doing nothing and not a single person in the waiting room and they said they were too busy. She gave me this card for a hangover center instead. I've never had a good experience here but since my physician recommended it I thought I'd give them another chance. 3 strikes you're out, I can see why this place has such bad reviews, they've earned them. Uninformed and clearly lazy staff.

Tested positive for Flu A one week ago and prescribed Tamiflu. Came to Fast Med one week later with trouble breathing, pulse ox in mid/low 70s, coughing dark green sputum. Everything hurts. I'm 40. Never a smoker, Full-time employee with a Master's Degree. I'm not grifting. I have work to do. Family, coworkers, people count on me. Practitioner (no doctor on site) ordered chest x ray but no radiologist to interpret result. Sill waiting to see if they call me. Practitioner wanted to prescribe a second round of Tamiflu, which had caused double vision and hallucinations. I refused. Practitioner entered exam room finding me crying of frustration and said in exasperated tone, "Oh great, why are you crying?" Wanted to say, "Because as usual I don't feel heard by old white men who don't listen to me." Actually said, "You're not listening to my experience. I know my body." Well meaning husband held my hand and told me to stop crying. I lost a child to a medical mistake. I've had Flu A twice in my life, and both times spent weeks in the hospital, months recovering from secondary pneumonia infection. I get vaccinated every year. I have a Primary Immune deficiency and see an immunologist for treatment. Lastly, none of practitioners nor patients wore masks while coughing. I'm afraid of hospitals, full PTSD. Who will take care of my special needs nursing preemie son if I end up in hospital again?

She took the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly assess my condition, and explain her treatment plan in a way that was easy to understand and gave me confidence in the process. Dr. Lily is the kind of physical therapist who makes you laugh so much, you forget you're actually working. We bonded over our love for reading and somehow turned therapy sessions into plot twists and punchlines. 10/10 would recommend--especially if you like your healing with a side of humor! Thanks to Dr. Lily, I've regained strength, mobility, and hope. She's not only an excellent therapist but also a wonderful person to work with. If you're looking for someone skilled, encouraging, and truly dedicated to your recovery, Dr. Lily is the one.

So, I initially thought I'd come here to express my surprise and gratitude for the care I received…read morewhen I first decided to come to Austin ER last October. I went to a different urgent care closer to UT campus on Red River, and when they were chock full of college kids, I decided an ER that wasn't attached to a hospital was worth it given the upper abdominal pain I was feeling. APD was there when I arrived, as someone had smashed through a window, but despite the delay, they were nice and got me back to a room, an offsite ultrasound tech was called, and I was given Torodol and told I had a gallstone that may or may not cause me issues in the future. Happy to have answers, and ready to go home, I waited to be sent home. So this is when in retrospect it all went downhill. Shifts had changed, someone else came to remove my IV. After "ripping the bandaid off" which was an IV in this case, and telling me they "couldn't let me go home with my insides on my outside", they wiped away the red chunks that came out with my IV and sent me home. No worries - I had answers and it was a nice cozy room and they had brought me a warm blanket. Fast forward to a few days later, a red streak started to show up on my arm, and I started feeling a muscle pain that kept me from bending my arm. A few google searches and texts to my NP of a mother in law later, and I knew I should probably get it looked at. My partner and I were going to the Mueller HEB the following weekend, so I decided to stop by and ask if I should be concerned. The front desk told me they saw that I had been in the previous weekend, and to have a seat and they'd get my arm checked out. The doctor told me the IV had cause a blood clot in my arm, I needed hot compresses, some motrin and an Ace Bandage. Thankful it wasn't something more serious, I walked to the front desk, and asked them if I owed anything - I was told "no". I was extra grateful they weren't going to charge me for follow up for something cause by my initial visit. Fast forward, I get a bill for over $600 AFTER INSURANCE for an ace bandage and some motrin, for something that was a result of seeking care at this institution and being told I owed nothing. Assuming it was some sort of mistake, I called the ER, was told to call billing, was told to call the ER back, that they would have to tag it as a follow up, and then I wouldn't be billed. Called back, was told it couldn't be a follow up if it was more than a day or two later, explained I was told I wouldn't be charged as it was because of the IV being ripped out of my arm that I came back in the first place. Was told to call billing again, was told to call the ER again, have been told two or three times a lead would call me. At this point, I experienced pain in my arm for two months that kept me from being able to extend my arm, have called/been told multiple times someone would call me back, have not received one return call but have been sent multiple bills. The last time I was told a lead would contact me was last week... this started last October. Honestly just looking to talk to someone who can make this right and feeling driving to the point of writing a review to get it sorted. Avoid if possible.

GOING TO THIS PLACE ALMOST KILLED MY FRIEND…read more If you want a masterclass in medical negligence, look no further. On August 19th my friend went to this facility--for additional context- he's 85% blind without his scleral contacts in, and doesn't drive. They were not in because he was shaking in pain and couldn't apply them. He then was picked up, and dropped off at 6am by a self driving car (not requested of course but thanks Austin) so with minimal vision, doubled over in pain and alone, you'd think it can't get any worse. (Spoiler alert, it does) The provider poked my friend's stomach for maybe five seconds, and declared it 'not life-threatening.' He was shoo'd away immediately. Hours later he was in emergency surgery having his appendix removed, it was torn hours prior, and according to the doctors at the different facility we went to, he almost bled out. Upon research appendicitis is one of the most basic emergencies they drill into medical training. But apparently, here, it was easier to roll the dice on my friend's life than actually run a scan or take him seriously. OR MAYBE NOT EVEN RUN A SCAN IF YOUR FACILITY CANNOT PROVIDE IT, JUST TO PROVIDE A SENSE OF URGENCY OR AT MINIMAL ???? CARE AND DIRECTION WOULD BE APPRECIATED. Their incompetence didn't just 'miss something' it nearly killed my friend. If you have any sort of remote emergency, and you come here-- count your days (or hours)

There is a ballad waiting to be written - something along the lines of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's…read moreRestaurant Massacree" perhaps - about this woman who is strong, obstinate and disturbingly determined. The ballad should also be about the place that heroically enabled her stubbornness and resolve. Here's the raw data, and wildly, every bit of it is true. I pieced it together after speaking with about a dozen people. 10 weeks after having undergone two heart procedures, my nearly deaf 93-year-old mom sets out on her own for an adventure. Her goal? The scrumptious lox bagel at Mary's Cafe. She missteps exiting the car and... kaboom! She falls and breaks her hip. She is literally across the street from St. David's Medical Center. A kind man rushes to her aid. Together, at her command, they get her BACK IN THE CAR. SHE DRIVES HERSELF ACROSS TOWN AND GOES HOME. There, she realizes that she can't get out of the car. She is half in-half out. After ten minutes, an innocent passerby in our quiet residential neighborhood hears her bleating plea and - again - at her command, helps get her back in the car, whereupon mom DRIVES HERSELF ACROSS TOWN AND BACK TO ST DAVID'S. It took three nurses and the manager of concierge services to extract her from her old beater Honda - the one with manual door locks - and it ended up in valet parking alongside the Porsches and a Ferrari. Mom would go on to have a nine inch nail inserted in her hip and spend two weeks at St. David's, one week in the Medical Center and one week in St. David's Rehabilitatiom Hospital. Here she was treated with dignity and compassion by every single person we encountered. And there were tons of them. Every effort was made to make her feel comfortable. Cozy even. The staff made her laugh. Encouraged her. Listened carefully to every word she said. Her in-house doctors watched over so thoughtfully. The physical and occupational therapists helped her to understand that she *could* meet her goal of regaining her independence. Yes, there were times when a nurse promised to bring her something and then forgot, but really, things couldn't have gone better. The food? Not too shabby, and if you are a visitor, there are alternating pop up caterers for things like sushi, Indian and Mexican food, every week day. Parking? Free if you're over 65. Just scan your driver's license instead of your parking stub. And my mom's old beater Honda rubbing shoulders with the glamor cars in Valet? I drove it out myself... free of charge.
