I would not recommend going here. I went in yesterday and was told there was a 2 hour wait. The lady behind the desk told me I could scan a QR code and I'd get a text when it was my turn. She also said I don't have to wait in the lobby. So I went to a coffee shop down the road to kill time. After not hearing anything from them after 2 hours, I went back to check in only to be told that there it would be another 1.5 hour wait. (I was also told there were 3 people ahead of me in line - not sure how that makes it an 1.5 hour wait!) I left and went home after that. I never got a text or call from them all night. Went in for an appt today for an earache. The doctor was very nice and everything was going smoothly until I left. It's Memorial Day, a holiday and most pharmacies are closed. I was sent to a Walgreens 6 miles away and was told that was the only one open. I get there and the pharmacy is closed. I call back to MedSpring and speak to a male who told me I was at the wrong Walgreens and sent me to another one 2 miles down the street. He then said "the address is on your paperwork" and I said what paperwork, I went to the front and asked the girl and she said the prescription was sent over and I didn't need anything else. I get to the new location (walgreens) and was told they don't have my prescription. Now I'm frustrated. I call back to MedSpring and a lady answered and told me that my profile shows they sent my prescription to a CVS?!?! Beyond annoyed. Story gets better, I call back MedSpring and they said they are sending the prescription to Walgreens. Walgreens said that the prescription was sent to cvs and since they are closed, they can't transfer the prescription to bill my insurance so I'll have to pay out of pocket. read more

What a waste of time and money. I went there after I had gone to a Minute Clinic a few weeks back. And, while the professionals that saw me were kind, they didn't do a single thing except scare me into going to an ER. FOR STREP. I went to an ER for a strep throat. The minute clinic diagnosis was a false negative. MedSpring didn't even do a test, but rather looked in my throat and said "we think you have a "peritonsillar abscess" -- let me repeat, you did no tests on me. You took my temp, my blood pressure and my pulse. The second I saw the doctor at the ER, they laughed and said "it's definitely NOT an abscess." Do y'all get a kick-back from a hospital? Scaring people is a terrible route. Try tests next time, maybe? You're a clinic aft Now I owe $130 to you and $1,300 to St. David's due to your lack of care. Awesome! Barton Springs, Austin, TX location. I made an appointment before going in and no one was there when I got there. They took me into one of the rooms and I waited for two hours before even being seen by the doctor. I requested for a liquid medicine and when I got to CVS and waited another 30 minutes for my prescription it was wrong! I then called the doctor to fix it and it took them another 30 minutes before they sent in the corrected one. It was not a busy day and with an appointment it took be all in all 5 hours. The male at the front desk was very nice but other than that it was not a good visit. read more

I've tried really hard not to write this post as I really like the actual doctor at this location. However the systems and front staff are hard to overcome. The first experience they didn't answer the phone all day over a 5-6 hour period and there was no one at the front desk for a long time when I arrived. Then this time I put in all my information for a telehealth appointment. I called after I didn't hear anything for 2 hours and they said they were not sure when the telehealth group came in. Literally no one called me. So 24 hours later I decided to use their call ahead system, which is supposed to notify you when you can come in. It works great at other care nows, not this one. It doesn't work. I got the text to come in and the wait is an hour + and I am after all the walk ins. It makes zero difference. If you have no other options, my advice is to go at the end of the day. read more

If I could give this business negative stars I would. I would recommend self diagnosing on WebMD before stepping foot in this place. Everything about the experience from start to finish was abysmal. I wish I could remember or find the name of the "doctor" that I saw so I could report him to some sort of medical board. It was incredibly unprofessional. He gave me some very extreme, dramatic medical advice after hearing a few of my symptoms and barely examining me. It was extremely clear that he had little to no experience coupled with a very condescending attitude. He was talking to me as if I was a child. His attitude and demeanor really started to get to me and I started to talk back and call him out. This escalated to him STORMING OUT OF THE ROOM IN ANGER and slamming the door? OK, what are you, FIVE? Grow up. And to all of Austin, stay as far away from this place as you can. After this, I went to my primary care doctors Urgent Care facility (which clearly I should have done in the first place) and everyone was shocked and confused to hear about this doctor's medical advice. read more

Came in because I believed I had an allergic reaction. The Physician Assistant, John Kirkus, who treated me was demeaning from the start. Honestly some of the worst bed side manners I've seen. Even if you believe that an allergic reaction hasn't occurred, you shouldn't make the patient feel as if they were stupid to even come in. I am commonly described as a level headed person and I tend to under react to situations. The only reason I went was as a favor to my sibling who was worried. I have never had an allergic reaction, all I knew is that I began to feel very strange, my tongue felt tingly, and that my throat felt tight after eating something new. I came in and and was seen right away. PA came in and acted amused by me insinuating that I had an allergic reaction and that's what was causing any of my pain. That I looked perfectly fine because if I had had an allergic reaction It would've been more obvious. (As if there isn't a range of allergies). I had to defend that I wasn't making it all up instead of examined and treated respectfully (because this is definitely how I want to spend my free time, right?). He said that my problem is that I just "seem to get very worried about possibly having an allergic reaction" and that he just "didn't want me to go home and get all worked up about it again", he completely dismissed anything about the allergy from start to finish and talked to me like I was a child. If I experience something off I tend to ignore it (even when I had a hernia, which I had to end up getting surgery for) but because I was short of breath, my throat felt slightly tight, my chest hurt, tingling, ect. I decided to go. I have a family full of physicians and am college educated, my concerns were reasonable. read more

I totally don't understand the three star or negative reviews. I visited MedSpring and saw Wayne and Dr. Cain. They were the nicest, most caring professionals I've ever seen at a walk in urgent care establishment. The waiting area is bright, clean, and the WiFi is open and fast. The receptionist was very friendly and didn't make me fill out a long form. The rooms are clean... but by far the best feature was the staff. I wouldn't think twice about taking my kids or myself there for any future off-hours minor illness. Recommended. read more

If you have any kind of illness or injury that would require a pain medication skip this place or you will do what I had to go through and go to the ER the next day. Like others have mentioned, I am surprised in the contrast of the these reviews. I had a fantastic experience here--so much so that I'm writing this review while still sick as a dog! I got taken down by the flu suddenly and called about a million (or 9) doctors to get an appointment ASAP. Because everyone is getting this nasty flu, the earliest appointment was weeks away! Next, I started with the medical clinics I trusted a little bit, and they also could see me for days. Finally, I called MedSpring and even though they were pretty booked, they were able to give me a reservation about an hour out. I felt so terrible that I decided I'd just arrive early and lay in the fetal position until someone could see me. I pictured the waiting room would be packed with people who looked as awful as me. Instead, when I arrived the waiting area was calm and almost empty. Marivel, the woman behind the front desk, was very sweet with me. I could tell she could tell how awful I felt, and she made effort to get me to room where I could attempt to feel more comfortable. She really exceeded my expectations. I ended up getting taken back for my appointment well before my original appointment time. Wayne, the nurse who attended to me, also demonstrated tons of compassion. The doctor (Nick) was great about answering my questions and giving me a good timeline for what to expect with this strain of flu. The flu is running so rampant right now that I expected to spend hours in a waiting room full of misery, receive an eyeroll or two from a rude receptionist, get seen for my appointment way later than the scheduled by some sort of pseudo-doctor. I had the exact opposite experience. Thank you MedSpring staff for taking care of me when I really needed to be seen immediately by caring humans. I appreciate it very much! read more

I had such a pleasant experience here, I am actually surprised by some of these negative reviews! 1) clean waiting room and clean/nice doctor's rooms 2) parking 3) I didn't have to wait - I imagine it depends on the time of day, but I was in and out in 30min 4) everything is very modernized - I appreciated the automated systems and not having to fill out a billion forms 5) excellent staff - I saw Vanessa and Dr. Bobb. Dr. Bobb was so knowledgeable, friendly, and understanding. I didn't feel like just another box to check off - he really seemed concerned, asked me a lot of questions, wanted to make sure he understood everything - wasn't just trying to prescribe me something and push me out the door. It was very much appreciated. Definitely wouldn't be the right center for some issues, but for what this urgent care is good for - it's great! read more

The facility is nice, clean, quiet and they have free refreshments and wifi. If you're going to wait, its very comfortable. I went in and was seen very quickly. The staff is super friendly and they seemed to really care about my well being. I saw Wayne, Vanesa and Mary Grace. They all tolerated my less than pleasant attitude and copious swearing, which I appreciated. I was in and out pretty quickly - overall I'm really pleased. They referred me to the ER because I needed imaging done. Please note, they don't do IV fluids, CT scans, and I'm pretty sure no ultrasound. read more

I don't update reviews very often, but this medical center definitely deserves some recognition. Shortly following my review, the company reached out to me, asking if they could investigate what happened. I gave them my information and requested they provide the notes of what happened during our visit to my clinic here in ABQ. We received three more contacts from the business over the following two weeks. First, the physician, Dr. Only, contacted my wife. That conversation didn't go very far, but it was good to hear back from him. Then another message on Yelp from the business. Finally, Dr. Adam Smith, who manages the facility, called me. We talked for a half hour about pediatrics and holistic medicine. Great conversation, solid feedback, and he understood where I was coming from. While my rating on the experience really hasn't changed, my opinion about this company certainly has. I would absolutely recommend them for emergency issues and would use them again if necessary. But that won't be necessary, I hope. read more

This is the second time that I have had the flu this season, and I was really annoyed that I would have to go back to urgent care. I went to the Fast Med on Manor last time, and had a horrible experience. Even putting aside the three hour wait (I get it, it's flu season) a visit was $215 without insurance on top of $100 for Tamiflu without insurance. Their doctors and staff were rude and lacking compassion. So, needless to say I was not going back this time. I decided to go to Medspring on South Lamar even though it was a little further away, because I had been there before for a second-degree burn and had a good experience. This time was incredible; I was out within the hour and the visit only cost $165 without insurance. In addition, the staff was so kind. Wayne was at the front desk and I heard him being very helpful and compassionate to people in line before me in addition to being so nice to me. Dr. Cain was also incredibly nice, she made sure to give me a written prescription as well as calling into my pharmacy because some places had run out of Tamiflu and she wanted to make sure that I got it as soon as possible and at my convenience. This is my urgent care from now on, and I'd highly recommend them to anyone. read more

From the front desk to the doctor that saw me, everyone was kind, helpful and really really nice. They got me back as soon as I filled out the paperwork and out the door in about an hour. This place does not provide a very high quality of care at all. I came in with a fractured bone in my foot, and upon entering found the staff to be quite rude and more concerned about getting my payment and co-pay than giving two shits about the fact I was in a ton of pain. I then got an x-ray and waited ~45 minutes to see Dr. Ronald Only (waiting room was completely empty) who confirmed I had broken my foot. He was not friendly, warm, or engaging at all, but seemed more concerned with getting through the appointment than offering any guidance or care. In fact, I was just given a print out from their EMR system of how to care for my foot. He also initially refused to give me crutches at first b/c he said it should only hurt when I bend it (ortho doc said that was completely wrong). Finally, I forgot to bring my insurance card so that was an absolute nightmare. They don't even have a fax for BCBS to fax you over a new copy, and you can't just give them the group ID, etc over the phone. The best part is they also failed to give me my x-ray CD upon discharge and wouldn't forward it on to my ortho group so I had to come back the next day (with a broken foot and crutches) and retrieve it myself. Bottom line -- staff seemed rude and more concerned with payment than providing care. The care itself was mediocre and lazy. Will not be returning and I urge you to go elsewhere. One plus is they did have free refreshments, so there's that. Also, rooms have TVs in them which is nice (even if it is always on real housewives of orange county). read more

I guess these guys are ok if you walk in and pay cash. They never answer the phone and their billing department is non-exisitant. I have waited for 30 minutes of 3 separate occasions in the last 3 weeks and no answer. And pay no attention to the "Technical issue with billing system yesterday" that message has been running since June 3rd. I have confirmed with my credit card company that MedSpring pulled the funds into their account, produced the documentation and MedSpring denies the funds were pulled and continues to bill me. You might get decent service in the clinic but you will be frustrated for months to come. The back office is filled with incompetent people. Believe me. Go to a real Doctor or Clinic. read more

If I could give this company a minus star I would do that. My husband went there October, 2018. They are a provider on our insurance plan, which means that they need to accept what our insurance pays and not bill us for stuff that is denied. Anyway, at the time, the receptionist told him he didn't owe a copay. So, he went in and the doctor spent his 2 minutes with him. Five months later, in March, we received a bill from them for $102.91. Part of it was the copay of $35.00. Fine, I paid that. But the rest of it, $67.91, was the part that was denied by the insurance company. The note by the insurance company on the EOB (explanation of benefits) stated that we were not responsible for that amount. I have called them (many times) and spoken to several different people. I have sent them a copy of the EOB, even though they would have received one too. I even had my insurance company call them, to no avail. Now a year later, I am still getting the bills from them. This is called balance billing and is not allowed. However, you can't make anyone listen to you at this company. Every month I have called them and explained to them again why I don't owe this. They say that they will take care of if, but don't. I guess they figure that if they keep harassing me, I will pay. I won't. The next step is to see my attorney, especially if this hurts my husband's credit. My advise is not to go here. As you can see the wait is long, the medical is inferior, and they try to over bill too. Bad Place, Find another Urgent Care center. Read the other reviews before you go. read more

We live across street from this location and have been going there for years for our family. However today I had a horrible experience that left me speechless. Basically we had a family member that was becoming non-responsive and unable to walk and I had to carry them to car and rush them to MedSpring. I ran into the lobby front desk and asked if I could get someone to help transport patient inside and be seen quickly. We were unsure of heart attack or what was wrong. The gentleman/receptionist at front desk said it would be 2 hour wait. I explained again she needs seen immediately because she is passed out and could he get a wheel chair and help me transport her inside. Again he said "Sorry it's gonna be at least 2 hours" Are you fucking kidding me? Not only was their lobby empty, but he is a receptionist and making critical care decisions and completely unconcerned and didn't bother to get a nurse or tech to help triage. We immediately left to another urgent care clinic and won't be returning. ***There is zero ability to contact anyone in management to make them aware of this issue. The person responding to the Yelp reviews is Tenitsa (Teni) Alvarez De La Cruz...who is a "Digital Marketing Specialist" and very recent college graduate. She uses same canned responses and is obviously not involved in patient care or even in management. This should tell you all you need to know how seriously MedSpring takes feedback about poor service and lack of patient care. Absolutely pathetic. read more

I smashed my index finger and was urged to seek care and get stitches. All I could imagine was sitting in a hospital waiting room for hours, and being billed thousands of dollars. My husband drove me to MedSpring, which was close by, avoiding 5 o'clock traffic in Austin, which could have been another hour to get to the hospital that takes my insurance. We arrived, were seen quickly, were treated in a friendly and straightforward way. I was stitched up and on my way in less than an hour with a very small bill to pay. I got there 20 minutes early, as instructed, for my 8:40 appointment. After I got there, I didn't get taken back to a room for an hour! When I was finally in the room at 9:20, it was another 5 minutes for the tech to come in and take vitals. It then took the Physicians Assistant (not doctor) another 25 minutes to come into the room! At this point, it was around 9:45, and the PA did a quick, 5 minute physical exam. That was it. No strep or flu tests. No apologies about the wait or even an 'I hope you feel better'. Fast forward two weeks, and I get a bill for $125! This was after insurance had taken care of part. When I called insurance, they told me that the bill was for a '45 minute office visit'! Excuse me?? The doctor was only in there for 5 minutes. When I followed up with the care coordinator, I was told that the appointments are just suggestions. She identified everything to the fact that they 'were busy', even though they told me they weren't that busy in the morning. A better explanation is that several of their employees were on their phone at the nurse's station, instead of working (which I noticed when I went back to the room). She didn't seem to care about any of the other problems that I identified. They do not take criticism well. Such poor management, and the employees don't care about the patients' time. I will definitely not return and strongly suggest that you do the same. read more

I was on hold for 20 minutes and arrived at the office before anyone ever picked up the phone. Receptionist was clearly not busy as there was 1 other person in the waiting room. I was told the appointment system "doesn't work". Finally got back to see an intake person, who was nice, then sat in a room for an additional 45 minutes. Went in because I was feeling very poorly, had some unexplainable tremors, light headedness... did not think it warranted a hospital but was clearly not well. They found I had very high blood pressure at the time. I was pretty ignorant of the implications. They did give me a pill to lower the bp, and monitor me for a bit. After about 30 minutes the bp was down a few points. The doc said he'd subscribe me some cipro for some stomach ailments I had that morning (least of my worries!). Did not. Did not prescribe or advise anything on the blood pressure. Sent me on my way. Turns out I was in a hypertensive crisis, with dangerous bp levels. I know that now after seeing another doctor and a little reading. I don't feel like they took me or my vitals seriously, which seems absurd to me. If this had been a busy emergency room, I think this would have been almost acceptable. This place was not remotely busy at the time. read more

Always pretty quick service, but even if you have to wait, you at least get to wait in your own private suite with a couch & a TV!! (Unlike every other urgent care where you wait in the lobby with germs and screaming kids, leaving you sicker than how you came in)..... Have seen a few different physicians here and all have been kind and consistent, plus this place bills like a true Urgent Care, not an Emergency Room like St. David's "Urgent Care" down south, so I get to reap my good insurance benefits in a cost-effective manner. You also get a patient portal online, so you can quickly access your medical records if needed. I recommend, and will continue to use them when I can't get into my PCP- read more

Urgent care is supposed to be a quick response care service for those in need. This place has no urgency in anything they do. They are also not high on bedside manner, communication or CARE. I would not recommend this location to anyone for any reason. The catch is, you'll never see anyone in the waiting room, because they put you in an examination room and let you wait there. For an hour or longer. Then act confused that no one communicated it would be a 2 hour wait as there is only one doctor on staff. Clearly a For Profit first establishment with service and care very low on the priority list. Go anywhere else. read more

Quick to charge and not reliable. This group is a repeat offender that falls short of professional service. They go through the motions here. For example. Discharge papers suggested I take a medicine I was highly allergic to. Asked the staff lady and she blew it off. "It's what we give everyone" was her response. Long wait times, forget to send prescriptions, staff doesn't return calls. The typical USA corporate healthcare. Higher prices and less service. They rotate a few doctors a around to locations. Good chance there will not even be one on site when you arrive. Only one Dr./PA on duty on a Saturday. I talked with a higher up director who said he was in charge of all of it. Dr. Berger. He sarcastically thanked me for for my input on how to run a medical facility. I don't have the solutions, but maybe having a good admin/customer service and a Dr. on site is to much to ask for.
