I called. They asked what kind of where it was going to where it was coming from. They were there in 15 minutes. Best service I ever had nicest guys I talked to Sean on the phone. He was great. The guy that came he was super he backed it in with amazing amazing amazing I will totally recommend this place to everybody and I will use it again when I get to go to the starter very much again you made my day. BIG LIES told by FAT BOYS: -They do not charge $450, as told by the driver. It's actually $525, plus $150 cleaning fee , plus $150 for 'storage'. - NO, they will NOT give you time to get your stuff out! They will send you to their location on Underhill Ave, have someone unlock the gate and rush the hell out of you. We were there for 10 mins on the clock when the man there was kicking us out and being super nasty and rude! NO, you cannot go to their Underhill location at any time because there's NO ONE ever there! They actually have to call a driver to go with you to unlock the gate and rush you and watch you as if they owned your vehicle. The receptionist and her manager Sandy are both the most hideous, vulgar and disrespectful people you will ever meet if you DARE to disagree with them. Sandy will lie to your face even if you have evidence recorded and will not hesitate to be vulgar. She's a bitter, narcissistic, and lonely old woman who does not deserve to have the position she has. Treating customers who have been in an unfortunate crash should be for someone who is compassionate and empathetic. No one chooses to be involved in a crash. NOW, my respect goes to Kevin. He came to talk to me while witch Sandy was throwing a temper tantrum and was the most understanding person in that office! He listened to the situation I had faced with them and understood the hell they had put us through. He was apologetic and understood what they had done wrong. If it was Kevin running that place, I would say do business with them, but DON'T because its not him running that place! I'm not the first person to complain here, so, just know what to expect. Additionally, if you take a card to pay just make sure that you also have your ID, they have to match it. Had a motorcycle accident on Mill Mountain where I totaled my bike and had to be rushed to the hospital. Fat Boys came to tow what was left of my bike a mile away to a friends and South East Roanoke and charged $220 and would only except cash. Absolutely do not use this sorry excuse of a tow company. read more

My car was hit by a deer in Moneta on the 24th of September 2021. It appeared the 2018 Honda CRV was a total loss. The local trooper taking the report called Fat Boys Wrecker service and I cleaned out the vehicle and signed a release upon them picking the car up. I asked the driver of the Fat Boys truck at the time of pickup if I needed to pay them with a credit card then or if they would invoice me. He stated they would invoice me and then I could discuss this with the insurance company. I then called my insurance company ( Geico) and filed the claim. Today ( October4, 2021), I received a certified letter from Fat Boys stating they place a lien on my vehicle if not claimed 30 days from 09/28 and at the same time I received a letter from the DMV stating Fat Boys had already given notification to them that they will be placing a lien on my vehicle if not claimed. WHAT TYPE OF BUSINESS IS THIS???? IS THIS HOW THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY BY SEIZING CARS???? I highly recommend not using this service unless you want this type of treatment. I did contact a representative of the agency and immediately paid this invoice so this scam could not continue and will be sending letters to the BBB regarding their behavior. Dan drove an hour and a half to recover my broken down vehicle. Not only was he incredibly kind and patient while loading my vehicle in the heat, but he also provided a ride from where I was all the way to Roanoke. Dan was incredibly friendly the whole ride. When we got to the expected destination and found that the shop was closed for the week Dan drove my vehicle to a different shop. Dan also drove me to not one but two hotels to make sure that I was able to find a place to stay while my vehicle was being fixed. I have never been treated with so much kindness, respect, and professionalism than I was with Fat Boys. read more

Had a blowout on i81. Credit card company got these guys to come give me a tow. Guy showed up pretty fast and was professional, especially for 3am in the rain! Looking at these other reviews I can't say that I had the same experience, but as for simple towing, I'd give them a go if I had to. 5 stars for prompt and professional towing. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY EVER!! Terrible experience. After being hit in a head-on collision by a drunk driver, watching my injured husband taken away by ambulance to the hospital, and talking with the Policeman & Detective, the Fat Boys tow truck driver refused to honor my repeated request to tow my car to the place of my choice, which is our preferred repair shop and was less than a half mile from the scene of the accident. I insisted that he tow it there and he refused. I insisted again and he said he would call his boss. I insisted a third time & the driver said he would not take a check or credit card, only cash. By this time, it was 5:30 on Main Street at rush hour with traffic blocked in all directions. The banks were closed & I had no way to get to an ATM for cash. The driver was not only unsympathetic but was also downright RUDE to me. All I wanted to do was get to the hospital quickly to check on my husband. They towed the car 10 to their lot 10 miles away. The next day, we were advised by the insurance company that we needed to call Fat Boys about signing a release form to release the car to the repair shop & were told that we could not sign the papers electronically. Fat Boys insisted that we sign the papers IN PERSON so we drove 10 miles to their office in a rental car in the aftermath of an ice storm to sign release papers. By the way, the car was not at the office location. It was 10 miles in the other direction & we needed our things out of the car, but it was approaching dark & we didn't want to risk the icy roads. Before we left Fat Boys, the management promised us that our car would be towed to the repair shop the next morning at the LATEST. That did not happen. I had to call the insurance company multiple times the following day to get them to help me get the car towed. It finally made it to the repair shop late that evening, after the shop had closed, two days after the crash, only because my husband continued to call Fat Boys & demand the care be towed. Then, that very same day, Fat Boys mailed us a certified letter saying that they had the right to sell my car at auction if payment wasn't made within a certain amount of time. BEWARE! read more

This company towed our vehicle after a car accident. When our insurance company called this company to make arrangements to have the car towed to the repair shop, we were told we would have to come down Monday morning to sign a release form. It is beyond comprehension why they would not bring those forms to the scene of the accident. Now the repair on the vehicle will be delayed. I can't imagine how difficult this would be for someone who's only car was wrecked. When I called the company to see if I could come down on a Saturday I was told they were closed and I would have to wait until Monday morning, when I have to be at work. This company acted as though my car was towed after doing something illegal. They were not helpful at all. I will never use this company. read more

This company was called to pick my car up because it had broken down in the Towers Mall parking lot due to transmission issues. I called them after finally finding the car and spoke with the receptionist. She had a snotty tone to her voice but she informed me that I could turn my title in to them and turn in my keys, which was completely fine because my car was pretty finished. I couldn't drive it off the lot anyway and have been searching for a new car as well. I got a ride over there and waited for 25 minutes or so for service. My friend had to go and pick up her kids from their school down the street. I waited behind for her. Well one younger employee came out and said we were to follow him to the lot. I told him my friend had run down the street to pick her children up and would be back. He began laughing at me. He insisted on taking me to the lot himself.... I appreciated it, but he was rude about it even though I didn't ask him to take me. I also mentioned that I would have to find another ride because my friend's phone was off. He laughed at me. I had no idea that this would end up being an issue, I just wanted to get the stuff out of my car and be done. Well he took me but the entire time he made smart ass comments about my things as I was gathering them calling them trash. My friend arrived at the office and asked them to call him to let him know she was back there and looking for me. He told me she went back the office and laughed some more about it. I reminded him she didn't have a phone and he laughed more. I had arranged a ride and had a friend on the way due to the situation. I then picked up my things and struggled with them as I was walking out the gate and he just kept laughing. Then he got in his truck and said "If your friend doesn't show up in a few hours, I guess give us a call" laughed and drove off, while leaving me stranded in the cold waiting on a ride because he couldn't wait or take me back to my friend at the office. I would not recommend this company to anyone with the attitude their employees seem to have. No matter how nice and cooperative you try to be, they are rude, dismissive, and clearly do not know how to interact with the public. I just want to say how fantastic this company is. they are extremely skilled in what they do and really care about their customers. i was headed up to smith mountain lake for a camping trip and a fun day on my pontoon boat which i was hauling, when suddenly i hit a pothole and bent the axle on the boat trailer. i called SEVEN different towing companies and all told me they couldn't help me. finally i come across fat boys who without hesitation came and put my pontoon boat with the trailer on their rollback truck and hauled it away. but it doesn't stop there, it was a Sunday and all the marinas were closed so i had no where to put my boat and get my trailer fixed. well, the owner of fat boys was so nice that he allowed my boat to be parked in their extra storage lot for a small fee for a couple of days until i could get a trailer big enough to take it home with me. when i arrived a couple days later with the trailer he took me to my boat and loaded it up on the trailer for me. Do not EVER use this company. They WILL rip you off. They charge as much as they possibly can and if your car is broken down and you can't get it off their property, they charge an additional fee for every day and trust me, that fee is NOT small.
