This review is long overdue! Just about a year ago my husband and I were on our way through the Roanoke area and we broke down around 10pm! In the middle of a gas station parking it was incredibly stressful! We called Robert Young and Vick arrived in no time! Picked up the phone right away and let us know he was on his way! This review isn't just about picking up our broken down car and bringing it a repair shop. While we were handling the car and payment with Vick we found a baby kitten we named Nala, she was TINY!!!!! Vick brought us to a gas station so I could grab some paper towels, a cardboard box, and cat food....before dropping us off at a hotel before bringing our car to an auto shop- it was SO kind!!! I wanted to put out there that it wasn't just excellent service in a stressful time it was going out of their way to help us help an animal in need!!! I got stuck with a blown tire on I 81 at about 11 pm. AAA left me on the road, my hazard lights stopped working and my cellphone was nearly dead. Rob from Robert Young cane to the rescue when AAA did not. I can't say enough good things about Rob. He managed the tough job of putting my very heavy EV onto his truck quickly, gave me a much needed bottle of water, and got me and my car to my hotel, perfectly positioned at the EV charging station. Mostly, Rob is clearly a good person who excels - not only at the technical aspects of his career, but at the human level instilling confidence and safety and the sense that you have a friend getting you out of a tough situation to where you need to be! Rob gave me a card for Robert Young and if I had any additional trouble I would have skipped AAA, called his company directly, and paid out of pocket to get the high level of reliability and customer service I got from Rob. I rented a piece of heavy landscaping equipment that became bogged down along the creek bed that runs behind my property. I unfortunately selected Robert Young towing to call for service. After describing my situation IN DETAIL, as requested by the dispatcher, I was told they could take care of the situation for $250. The driver who was dispatched arrived driving an industrial-sized vehicle that could be used to salvage an overturned train. He quickly concluded that his vehicle was too heavy to enter the "soft soil" in my back yard/along the creek (duh!) and stated he would go get a smaller tow truck, "but it will cost more". As it was Saturday afternoon and my rental was due back in a couple hours, I really didn't have much of a choice and this man knew that. After returning with a "standard" tow-truck, the job was completed without further issue or difficulty. It was at that time that I was told my charge would be $450, which seemed to be a somewhat arbitrary number this guy came up with after mulling it around in his head for a few seconds. I paid the bill, again I really had no choice at the time. I contacted Robert Young first thing Monday morning about the situation, and "in the spirit of good will" was refunded $100. I still did not find that satisfactory, as I was told the service would be $250 and it was not my fault or responsibility that the man arrived in a vehicle he should have already known would be too big for the job as described over the phone. I then contacted a State of Virginia-level agency with oversight over towing companies. They noted a long history of problems with Robert Young towing, and encouraged me to file a formal complaint with their office. That must have hit a delicate nerve, as the next thing I heard from Robert Young towing was a letter from their lawyer, attacking me for filing the complaint. Obviously, at that point, I wasn't going to pursue further complaints, as hiring a lawyer to fight with their lawyer would cost me WELL over the $100 over-charge I felt they still owed me in reimbursement. However, I certainly would HIGHLY discourage anyone from voluntarily dealing with this crooked organization, unless you like surly service, being lied to, being held financially responsible for the decisions THEY make, and then being threatened with a lawyer when you register complaints! read more

My spouses car was totaled and these people took it to there place. They were told to keep it or junk it and now they are trying to get money for it setting. I would never use them. read more

This man and his company are truly amazing. I became stranded when traveling in an RV with my three children. As a woman I can tell you that it can be intimidating and scary. It was dark and later in night. Mr. Young personally ensured we were ok and made it to a safe hotel. We were worried that our once in a lifetime trip to the Grand Canyon would be axed. They fixed my vehicle within half day for a very fair price and we were able to continue on our trip as planned. I cannot thank them enough. For this family, a hero came in the form of a tow. A REVISED review from my former post BE FOREWARNED,...from my recent experience, 11/12/21, anyone considering using this outfit might want to take any positive reviews with a grain of salt. These people are monetary predators and will take full advantage of your situation when it comes to towing services. On this sunny fall afternoon, a short drive from either Salem, or Roanoke, my mid-size truck was pulled from a ditch where the right front wheel had become stuck. The charge was $250 for a job that took less than 20 minutes. This was nothing short of literally 'highway robbery' because there's no way this amount was justified as compared with several other Roanoke Valley towing services I called to check pricing after the incident. Unfortunately, and at considerable cost to me, Young's dishonest, unfair and unethical business was called to do the towing by someone other than myself. This ripoff guarantees there's not a 'snowball's chance in h...' I'd ever recommend these people much less ever call upon them. Anyone giving a thought to hiring this company for work of any kind should really give it a second thought. I have used the services of Robert Young Towing multiple times in the last twenty years and have had nothing but positive experiences with them and their employees. They have towed my wrecked cars, pulled me out of ditches, changed flat tires, serviced and repaired my vehicles and even moved super heavy safe's for me. When I need anything done auto related (or need something heavy moved), I call them. I would not hesitate to recommend them if/when you need anything vehicle related. Like every other business, they can't make everyone happy but I for one am a VERY happy and loyal customer and I highly recommend them! read more

I less than 20 minutes from their offices on a main road and the driver could not find me. The drivers dont have GPS. or smartphones. At least he had a cell phone. Called me several times for directions. On the phone, told me he had to stop for a poo and the store gave him incorrect directions. Anyway 2 hours later he found me and then broke my truck some more. $275 for a tow to the local dealership seemed a bit high, but I have nothing to compare it against. It would have been quicker, cheaper, and less destructive to get a uhaul trailer and do it myself. Stay away from these guys. read more

We are 3 young girls traveling from PA to TN and were unfortunate enough to get stranded outside of Roanoke, VA. We called at 6:15 AM and were greeted by a kind young man named Cody In only 30 minutes. The entire process was so easy and Cody was kind, friendly and made a very stressful situation not only manageable but helped us laugh and relax. 5 stars is an understatement for the care this company and Cody provided us with! Towing and storage fees are way too high, in my opinion. Charged $50 per day storage, even though it was 2 partial days. Charged a $55 "no key fee". Tow fee alone was a lot $$$. I will say a prayer tonight for this company, the prayer will be along the lines of "I pray this company goes out of business soon'. read more
