Stopped into Fat Daddies Cheesesteaks while traveling because I always check Yelp for the best local eats, and wow, this place did not disappoint! The reviews were glowing, and the photos had my mouth watering, so I had to give it a shot. As someone born and raised in Philly, I'm extremely picky about my cheesesteaks. Let me tell you, this one hit the spot. The steak was perfectly seasoned, the cheese was melty and generous, and the roll? Absolute perfection.....just the right amount of chew without being too soft. Every bite was exactly what a cheesesteak should be. If you're craving a legit cheesesteak, Fat Daddies is the real deal. I was up in Lafayette for an event. I saw this place next-door when I left, and wanted to give it a try. I made the right call! When I walked in, the staff was very friendly and offered me some recommendations. The gentleman at the counter said they're definitely known for their cheesesteaks, and I couldn't agree more after having one! Everything was made fresh to order, and they even have a "build your own" option. The pricing was fair, it was definitely worth the cost. Passed by this place a few times and wanted to give it a try. I asked two different people in the area how this place was and they both recommended it, so I decided to finally try them. While not terrible, it was not great either. I ordered the 'Jersey', which was standard enough and out of the choices for cheesesteaks, the best option for me. They do have other items on the menu if you wanted to go beyond cheesesteaks. It tasted ok, but it was underwhelming and almost bland in a lot of ways. It did the trick (which was satisfy a hunger), but that's about it. It was messy, but I don't mind messy if it's good - which this wasn't. Clearly based off most of the other reviews, I'm in the minority here. Maybe it was just a bad day or maybe other items off the menu are much better than what I chose. All I can type about is my own experience and I'm fairly easy. They have tables inside and outside. The wait wasn't too long. Plenty of parking. This business shares the space with a few other businesses. Staff overall were very friendly and friendly staff are getting harder to find these days. So I'm torn about whether I should attempt to try them again (and amend my review) or just let it be. Perhaps it was just a one off bad day. All I know is, is that I've had way better cheesesteaks from places I wouldn't expect to make a halfway decent cheesesteak than the cheesesteak I had from a place that specializes in them. The bread is soft and fresh. The meat is not proportional, so it feels like you are eating a lot of bread. So I just combined half of the sandwich with the meat and threw out the other half of bread. I would recommend cheesesteak if you're looking for something greasy and filling. It's not a food that I eat often but it did the job. The red peppers have weird taste. I picked them out of the Italian hot dog. It's some kind of prepackaged variety and it has this weird slimy quality that is more apparent in the hot dog vs cheesesteak. The Italian hot dog is two hot dogs. I had weird craving for hot dogs and it hit the spot (but also reminded me why I don't eat hot dogs). The egg rolls were dry and one was burned. I got the bbq chicken and the Mac n cheese. I definitely do not recommend the Mac and cheese, which is really dry and bland. The bbq chicken was ok, I ate the filling and threw away the casing. Bbq sauce has nice flavor but definitely needed more given how dry the egg rolls are. Everything was neatly packaged, and food arrived hot. I really appreciate that when it comes to delivery. I would give the food 2 stars (for the cheesesteak) and the delivery 1 star. read more

Super disappointed by this meal. I saw the reviews and being new to the area I was looking for a good go-to place...this won't be it. The staff was nice enough during my extended wait. I am patient and they seemed to be doing a decent phone order business. As a huge fan of small restaurants I am always willing to give them a break on the wait. They line star is based on the fast that my cheesesteak what I waited so long for, drove home with and excitedly opened had no steak in it. Seriously, a cheesesteak with out the steak, just made it a veggie and cheese sandwich...not what I was looking for. I also got a couple varieties of their egg roll, bbq chicken and Buffalo chicken. One bite of each was all I could try. One was dry and the other just wasn't good. The food came out quickly but, not what we were expecting. We got a chicken cheesesteak and they told us that it was very big and 2 can share. My husband was hungry and although, the portion was not big enough, which was half hero, we were glad we didn't get more. There was way too much bread and my husband's side didn't have any onions on it. Too expensive for the money. The place was dirty. We had to wipe down the table to sit at it. Bathroom was horrendous. I don't understand the love of this place, beyond the fact it's the only one around like it! Honest review and going to keep it short. 1)Older girl should know better than to be a bit rude! First time visit (and it won't be the last). Nice clean place with indoor or outdoor seating. Very friendly staff, happy to chat with the customers, even sent over a couple of mini pizza slices to sample while we wait. The pizza was great! Nice to finally have great pizza in rural Sussex County New Jersey made by true pizza guys with roots in NYC. THE CHEESEBURGER WAS HUGE. THE CHEESESTEAK WAS HUGE. We were planning to see the Christmas Light Show at Skylands Stadium. I saw this place was nearby and had great reviews so we decided to stop here and grab dinner before heading to Light Show. We got there 34 mins before closing but they still accommodated us. No line and it was super quiet. They had tables and chairs inside and outside. We ordered Ultimate Cheesesteak Bacon Cheeseburger, Fat Mac Sandwich, Dirty Fries, and Regular fries. I had asked for no peppers on my burger and the owner noticed it and jokingly asked us why no peppers and that it was good for me. He has great relationships with his employees and customers. He makes sure his customers are satisfied. Dirty fries was super spicy for me. The ultimate burger was really good but was too greasy. Fat mac sandwich was HUGE! It can definitely feed more than 1 person. The bathroom could be better. Definitely a great place to hangout with friends and grab food late at night. read more

Had been to Fat Steve O's before the pandemic, first time to new place and Fat Daddy's. The "new" owner served me and explained the menu options. He was very pleasant and helpful. I had a build your own cheesesteak with onions and cheese wiz. It was one of the best cheesesteak sandwiches I've ever had. My only disappointment was that they don't have any cold cut heroes. Disappointed with the birds nest burger Stopped for lunch today and received a dry burger with an over cooked fried egg. I like the concept of the sand which but expected a juicier patty with an egg yolks that should have been dripping all over the thing. Ended up needing ketchup to moisten the sandwich enough to eat it. The menu also stated that wedges and coleslaw are included, well no coleslaw and received undercooked French fries. The size of the sandwich was impressive, unfortunately it just provided a larger serving of a bad experience. Probably should have tried a cheesesteak. Maybe will try again but not sure. read more

I have eaten here on several occasions now and have always found them to be friendly, fast and delicious. The food is made once you order it in as you wait, doesn't get better than this. I've tried a number of things on the menu and all were delicious, fresh and something this area needed. It is nice to be able to get a cheesesteak locally that is delicious, great quality and at a fair price. This will not be my last visit. We have been to Fat Stevos many time and the food was good. Not great but always and consistently good. Not this time. The cheesesteak sandwiches must have been put thru the dryer because they shrank. The roll was the advertised 10" but the filling would have fit on a hamburger roll, and a small one at that. The fries: approx one measured cup, used to be included but now must be "combo'ed", were barely edible. They tasted like the oil had not been changed in months. A rancid after taste. Two sandwiches with fries for over $27. We will not be back. read more

It was an overcast day, during the Pandemic and my family and decided to take a ride. My daughter was craving burgers, and she found this place on yelp. We called before we left, as we had to drive 50+miles (we are very familiar with this area, and wanted to take a ride) and wanted to be sure it would be open. Yes, she girl said they are open. We packed chairs and a table in the car, so we could eat outside, and took the ride. Pleasantly, when we got there we found tables to use outside, and the skies cleared up to enjoy a beautiful day. We masked up, and went inside to place our order. We ordered a flame thrower burger, and 2 fork split BBQ chicken sandwiches. "Oh sorry we are all out of burgers, we have a big catering order and we have no burgers left" Do over sandwich order : loaded sausage sandwich. FIRST reason why we should have walked, no burgers. SECOND The wait time is 25 minutes " really why? "Cuz of the the big catering order" ok, cuz no one could put the walk in orders ahead of THE BIG catering orders, so of course we waited. Fork Split BBQ chicken sandwich " slow roasted fork split BBQ chicken with SAUTÉED ONIONS AND BACON on a roll. Unwrap sandwich, NO BACON, NO ONIONS. Hmmm. Went inside, "what no bacon and onions? Sorry" really. At this point, I can't lie, we were damned disappointed. Then the guy comes out and says "sorry about the bacon and onions. We have a big catering order and those had no bacon and onions so I made them all the same." He did offer to remake them, at which point we didn't want to wait again. Lastly he said "I'll give you back your money, if YOU want." My opinion, he should have just done so. I should also add, We saw 3 cars drive up, get out of their cars, go inside and come right back out because of the long wait time. Clearly it wasn't just us, who was just a bit frustrated with them. LESSON if you can't handle the BIG catering order AND your store orders, don't take front door clients, and order more food to handle it. read more

Coming from Bergen County where there was a number of great sandwich places in every town I finally found a place in Sussex that could match the best I've had.. I got the original cheesesteak and I was very impressed with the sandwich.. it was real steak not the frozen mush that passes for steak in other shops. the coleslaw was also very good. It's very clean and the service was friendly.. from what I saw I might even have found a place in Sussex that knows how to make a real Italian sub and hot dog.
