They were serving up Hurricanes and Mimosas and I was in HEAVEN (while knee-deep in a Hurricane). Their burgers are pretty sweet too but I would recommend the sliders more. They just seem to... taste better. Like finding a good parking spot, if you happen to score a seat out the front, you should never leave because it will never happen again. I had been stalking their Instagram for a long time and had already partaken in one of their donuts (the incredible All Day Donuts) and last night, on a drizzly Thursday, I finally decided to stuff my face with one of their shiny burgers. It's a cute and cosy little place, with only a few tables and chairs. It is certainly not a pumping venue by any means, despite the rap music blaring and the hipster staff. We ordered the classic cheeseburger with fries and two margaritas, because why not? The margaritas are the only cocktail on the menu, with wines by Noisy Ritual and a small selection of local craft beers. The burger was perfection. Filled to the brim with pickles, drippy yellow cheese and a fresh-made patty. The bun was made in-house and had a glossy finish but was not too sweet. Served in a classic red american-style basket. If you're hunting for some of Melbourne's best burgers, Juanita Peaches should definitely be added to your list.

The clue's in the name as to why this is an absolute must destination if you love craft beer (and if you don't, you're wrong); one of the best in Melbourne in my opinion. There's always some interesting beers to try and the selection of 12 constantly rotating taps keeps things interesting. The place is laid back, service friendly and knowledgeable, only downside is that it's not the cheapest place to drink but the quality and variety of beers makes it worth the price. The Alehouse staff are very knowledgeable, as you would expect in a beer nirvana such as this. It gets busy in here, but it's usually quiet enough to have a quick chat with them as you try and decide which one of the delicious beverages on offer you will have. They're more than happy to let you taste test one before you commit to a full glass too. A great choice of beers are on offer and you're bound to find something you like on the rotating taps (the upcoming beers are listed on a wall next to the bar), but if you don't like anything on tap check out the beer fridges or even try one of their beer cocktails! In the front of the bar there are comfy couches along one side, with larger tables on the other side. In the adjoining room is the same setup, though this can be booked for private functions and it's also where the Wednesday night Trivia Night is held. Trivia is free, fun, and prizes include a bar tab, so you really can't go wrong with that. Out the back is a beer garden with a mix of tables and chairs in a variety of shapes and sizes, with a shady tree or two thrown in for good measure. As I mentioned, the food is great here. The first time I popped in the kitchen was being renovated and my order of fries was forgotten, but since then service has been prompt and the food delicious when it has arrived. I've been to Alehouse a few times now and will keep going back. My chicken tacos had slaw, pulled chicken, guac, corn, tomato salsa, sour cream and jalapeños on charred corn tortillas. The flavors were very good! It's sleek interior and hip-crowd (and air conditioning) had drawn us in on a hot March evening. The drinks list was fun, with a great range of house-created cocktails (Sex on Brunswick, anyone?) however the beer list was a bit lacking. But now to the important stuff... the food! Intriguingly, the Lt. Oscar is designed to share, and therefore all 'burgers' actually come served as two slightly smaller sliders. We ordered the Little Oscar burgers (a classic cheeseburger) and the Gangnam style burgers (with Korean fried chicken and Asian slaw) to share. First things first, the sliders are actually just a hint too big, and would be perfect as just one main meal. Secondly, the Gangnam style was a little lacking in flavour and surprisingly the classic cheeseburger was far superior. I think they are still finding their feet a bit here... I do love a burger but with so much competition around, they'll need something a bit more than just serving them in pairs.

The place is a little stark and empty but it is a burger joint, not your favourite late night hang out. Everything is nice and clean, this is not a greasy spoon and everyone is nice and polite. The burger list is impressive (there is both a vego and vegan option) but you must try the Manhattan Island Burger, it is just about perfect (more pickle perhaps) There are all of the standard drink fair but go a milkshake for that old fasioned burger joint feel!
