Long story short....I came in 1 day before my appointment to show Fatima the style I wanted. She said yes she could do it. Her and 1 of her associates, Nancy, kept asking me to show them the picture again, talking to each other in, what sounded like to me, a mixture of English and their language....which should've been a red flag, indicating they wasn't 100% sure if they could pull it off or not. What I ended up with looked NOTHING like the picture PLUS the cornrows and box braids were so tight, I couldn't sleep all weekend and had to take them out after only 2 days! Fatima refused to give me even a partial refund so now I have no choice but to take her to small claims court and ask for a FULL refund in addition to any court fees I'll incur. ***The 1st picture below is what I asked them to do ***The 2nd picture below is what I actually ended up with! If they could not have given me the style I wanted for WHATEVER reason, they should have been honest up front and told me no. I would've simply chose an easier style. Ladies, if you want to keep your edges and not suffer from any damage or hair loss, please research before making a decision on where to get your braids done. Some shops actually care about your real hair, they'll use bigger amounts of hair to support the braid and they won't pull so tight....they'll evaluate at your hair and give their professional opinion on whether or not it's in a condition to withstand the kind of braids you're requesting OR if they're capable of duplicating the style if you show them a picture beforehand. I truly hope me sharing my experience help you in making the right decision. Braids aren't the best for our hair enough as it is so when we do choose to get them, we have to be cautious! Be blessed ladies.....peace!! **To show how crooked and guilty they are, they removed my conversation with them from their Facebook page, which basically would prove my case against and show they were wrong! Thank God for screen-shot tho!!!! Lol

I made a same day appointment here and thought it was nice to be able to be accommodated on such short notice. When I called, the woman who answered kind of lackadaisically took my name with the appointment time, as if she weren't actually writing it down and quoted me a price. Once I arrived, I mentioned I had an appointment and was asked by a stylist near the door what I wanted to have done, which further suggested they don't really set appointments, but tend to have enough stylists to take walk ins throughout the day. Within 5 minutes of arriving, someone started working on my hair, so the faux appointment wasn't a problem at all. Before starting, the stylist made sure to let me know the price, which matched what I was told on the phone when I first called. This is where my experience began to go downhill. My hair is natural (no relaxer) and therefore needs to be detangled differently than relaxed hair. It's by no means, unmanageable, but cannot be combed with a fine tooth comb, which is actually similar to many people's hair, even if it's relaxed. My stylist roughly yanked at my hair with a fine tooth comb 2 or 3 times before switching to a more appropriate wide tooth comb. Even after switching, she attempted to comb-detangle my hair starting at the root, which tends to create more knots and tangles than it removes. After yanking at my hair and getting the comb stuck 3-4 times, I reached up to cover my hair with my hand, at which point she handed me the comb and asked me to comb it myself and walked away. It took me about 5-8 min to thoroughly detangle my hair with the comb, by simply starting at the ends and working my way to the roots. After 10 min or so of me finishing, she finally came back and I showed her a picture of the style I wanted. She began working and about halfway through, another stylist joined. Overall, it took about 2 hours or so for 2 people to complete a crochet install on my hair, which was nice. The fear of my stylist yanking my hair out of my head and leaving bald was not so nice... My final style was nothing like the picture I originally provided. I removed a large portion of the hair the same night to make it less full and then I ended up taking it down and redoing the crochet install myself 7 days later.

Major spacing issues and the lady that done my hair is mad for me coming back

They won't use my hair after they said bring their hair for twist 2/11/22 bad and lazy tech

I have been coming here for years and never had any issues! Now she overbooks and tries to bring in as many people as possible for help but they don't know how to braid!! My hair is terrible and I paid over 200! I was there for seven hours because the lady messed up. They put small braids in the back and big braids in the front which caused gaps. I am taking a trip to Vegas and so disappointed. I will NEVER return here or refer anyone here

I hate my feedins... when I got to the shop they acted like they really didn't want to do my hair. I wanted it done so I let her braid it. It wasn't long like I asked for and then they didn't even have foam wrap or sprits like really what salon doesn't have the products for the finishing style. So I had to go home and doctor up my braids... then they had kids running around with food everywhere. I'm good on this shop and my ends was coming a loose as soon as I left... really and they over charged me for this mess. I'm don't recommend this braiding shop to anyone. No thank you.. you ladies won't get another dime from me. This is what my ends look like not even 24 hrs yet and it's super frizzy... please save your money and don't go to Fatimas ever!!!!!

This salon is great! The woman are both kind and talented. They started in time and three woman worked on my hair. It took only three hours from start to finish. The salon was clean and tidy. The price was reasonable. I've gotten lots if praise on my hair.

They do horrible work with horrible attitudes

They deserve no stars. Rude. Unprofessional and the owner doesn't care about the customer. They pulled and tugged at my hair. I requested one thing and they did another. When they tried to fix it it was the worst experience I've ever sat through. Please save yourself money and nerves. The employees complain when the owner isn't there and they do not braid with a smile. Aggressive people who you pay to do your hair. DO NOT GO TO THIS SHOP.

Came in for a quick style for my vacation. I have used Fatima's over 15 years. They are fast, fair with prices and very nice !

So far so good. They started on time and with 3 braider's. It's going on 3 weeks with my braids and they still look as fresh as day one. I typically loose some front braids after a day or two, but all have remained intact. I don't know what they did, but they did a fantastic job. EVERYONE asks me where I got my Senegalese twists done. I am back in Chicago now, so they are a bit disappointed by my answer, Irving, TX. Ladies, this is a great place if you are seeking quick and exceptional service with no haggling or mis-communications of prices. I was asked almost every half hour if I was doing okay or needed anything. From start to finish, I was in the chair for about 4.5 hours with 3 people constantly working on my hair. Did I mention I have about two inches of natural type 4b African American hair that they were able to handle with ease???? Do yourself a favor and get your hair done by these lovely ladies.

My sengalese twist did not last more than 5 weeks. I ended up taking them out because they started falling out and looking really bad.

A few weeks ago, after reading the reviews and having been familiar with the Frederic Fekkai…read moresalons, I came for a 1" trim to my long-time, blunt-cut, medium-length (3 inches below the chin), slightly angled bob, beveled a bit underneath at the nape. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

I've been to "fancy" Dallas salons, and honestly, my experience with Desiree was better than any experience I've had in a salon. Not to mention her prices are reasonable!
