I've been going here for several years, to treat a persistent anemia, involving IV infusion of iron…read morewhen my levels get too low. Dr. Kula, my hematologist, is not only incredibly calming, but her problem solving resulted in me getting an actual diagnosis after many specialists and diagnostic tests showed no specific cause, despite how thorough the other specialists as. When I first went to Dr. Kula, I was frustrated and worried and she turned my worries around, telling me we would get a solution. She seemed attuned to me, kmoldgable about my case, and was incredibly efficient without me feeling as if I'd been rushed. After ten months of testing, I was so relieved to have an answer, and four years later, Dr. Kula still inspires my complete confidence. As we all know, the doctor is only a part of the process, but in this case, the entire staff, from front desk, to nurses, to techs, have all been fantastic. No huge delays in appointments. In fact, I think every single appointment has run a few minutes early. Questions and concerns are answered in detail, blood draws are painless (no, seriously!) and it is great that they have an in-house lab, so in the short few minutes between blood draw and appointment, the doctor has updated and to the moment red and white counts, etc. I've spent most of my time in the infusion center, since my iron replenishment is usually an all-day affair, and this has allowed me to meet some great folks, as well as being able to observe the flow of the infusion area. The infusion area is one big room, with a nurses' station at one end, several offices, including scheduling, I believe, scattered throughout. On one end of the room is a smalll kitchen area with soft drinks, animal crackers, and the like, for patients and caregivers alike. There are two bathrooms, very clean and well appointed. Patients and a caregiver for each, if the patient has brought one) sit across an aisle, and the chairs are close enough to foster communication, if desired, but far enough apart to offer a bit of privacy. There are several televisions suspended above each row, but I haven't seen them turned on at any time. There is a good selection of magazines, and also a bookshelf where you can take or bring a book to donate. There are mostly adult genre paperbacks (mysteries and romance). Most patients seem to be on their tablets during their infusions, utilizing the wi-fi, which is at perfectly reasonable speed for web surfing. As I haven't tried streaming on the wi-if, I can't comment on how that speed might be. The infusion center is sunny and pleasant, and the nurses are thoroughly and wholly patient focused. Nurses are assigned to a "row" of patients seated in chairs across an aisle from each other and the nursing staff freely offer an extra hand if several patients need assistance at the same time. The nurses in this section are so soothing, explaining every step of the process and how long each segment is expected to take. While side effects are mentioned, they aren't emphasized, and through the process, the nurses were always only a few short steps away. If you'll be there for some time, the center is very centrally located, with a large Wegmans grocery store a short distance away, among many other shops.

You know when you first arrive in a new clinic, they have you fill out all these questionnaires…read moreabout your past and your health? In my experience, it's usually not thoroughly read. But this is not the case with Dr. Kula. She was very detailed and asked all kinds of questions about every line I answered on that form. I think we spent at least 30 minutes just talking. My first impression of her was great. She made me feel very comfortable and she answered all the questions I had. So far I haven't had any bad experience at this facility. I would recommend anyone to Dr. Kula if you're looking for a hematologist in this area.

Dr. Ghandi could not care less. He rushes through the appointment, making you feel like you are nothing more than a number, something that his nurse will tell you explicitly. I needed Dr. Ghandi's signature on a form that I had completed to continue receiving sick benefits at work. After they had the form for more than 10 days, I got more demanding and was told by the nurse in charge of Dr. Ghandi's paperwork that I needed to be patient because, "we have a lot of patients and are very busy." That made clear what I have felt as one of their patients - you are a number, get in line. Also, they charge $25 to complete medical paperwork - an important detail since most cancer patients are not able to work while undergoing treatment! We also had a 9:30am appointment this morning with Casey Nelson, a social worker, who was not who we wanted to see. The most component person we have met happened to be a social worker named Fiona Rogers, who unsurprisingly, has left the practice. This morning, there was a tech glitch and delay in getting the verification code to log into the PMD app they use for virtual meetings. At 9:32am, we received a message through the app from Casey Rogers that said, "You have missed the meeting." A 2-minute grace period? Are you kidding me? Especially when we reconfirmed the appointment at 8:30am this morning. It's now 9:59am and I am on hold to see if I can use the remaining 30 minutes of my appointment to get resources on cancer support groups. Just kidding, the customer service agent has hung up and I just got a busy signal. If you expect to be treated with dignity, respect, and compassion as you undergo lifesaving cancer treatment, DO NOT GO TO VIRGINIA CANCER SPECIALISTS. They are the furthest thing from "specialists." Rather than waste my time with Casey, we will just use Google to find support groups and mental health resources!

However, it has always been easy to talk with my VCS oncologist and to ask questions. He has always been aware of my insurance requirements and has ordered procedures, lab tests and medications accordingly. I have also recieved treatment from the lab and infusion center at VCS. The lab techs appear more skilled than those at our local hospital and there has been much concern for my care and comfort. I am alive today because of my cancer surgeon and the oncologist and staff at VCS. They made a difficult illness bearable. I have had no problem with the administrative part of VCS..

The room where they administer the infusion is also the same room where cancer patients come to get their treatments. It's made me very anxious the first time because of this. You feel so bad so many people suffering by your side. Meanwhile you are just there for a boost of iron. I have been treated by Dr. Haggerty. He is a true angel and really helped me with my diagnosis. The man knows his stuff. I highly recommend him and his peers. The facility and staff is very understanding. Considering the treatment facilities they are providing. It's always super clean. They have water, coffee and snacks readily available. As you wait or that you can have while receiving treatments. They also give you pillows, and warm blankets to rest while receiving the treatments on the chairs. The chairs are very comfortable and versatile. I highly recommend this place for cancer patients looking for a facility to get their treatments done. I've even seen drs who have gotten diagnosed come here and sit next to the commoners to get their chemo/radiotion done. A+ staff, facility and drs!

I think the staff here is great, however I had a pretty negative experience getting referred to…read morepain management here & specifically Dr. Heller. I was referred here after having a herniated disc confirmed with MRI at my L5-S1 that was worsened after a car crash Oct 2025. It was originally herniated & diagnosed 12+ years ago when I got out of the army infantry. I took no pain medicine and have been living with it in those 12 years. October 2025 I had the crash & it hurt more, mainly at work on long 16 hour double shifts. I do private security so I am on my feet a lot. The 1st visit was pretty normal, I received 28 pills of a mild opioid to last me 42 days(not a problem) Even though it says on the bottle to take one every 6 hours for pain. The 2nd visit he gave me the same 28 pills to last me 56 days or 2 months(Definitely not enough however I did not complain or comment) My main problem was during this visit he said "Make sure you're not giving them to anybody else & put them someplace safe and put them away". I found that to be pretty weird and actually offensive, I have no criminal history, a perfect driving record, honorable discharge from the army & definitely no history of addiction and an MRI that shows my herniated disc.... My final & 3rd appointment I had just worked a 20 hour shift, 16 at my full time & 4 at my part time, I went there straight from work & did not sleep, I should have called out looking back During this time he told me I Needed to submit a urinalysis or he could not prescribe me opioid pain relievers anymore ever again. I don't mind intrusive, random drug tests to appease Dr. Heller & his CDC regime HOWEVER I explained to him I had about a 3 hour window to sleep before working a regular 8 shift & would not be sitting around there drinking water and waiting to pee, as sleep was way more important than receiving pain pills that day. I asked to make an appointment later on in the week or next week when I don't work. He said if I left today, he could no longer prescribe me pain medicine ever again. I understand he has strict CDC guidelines but It is really more so about his unprofessional comments and how he treats pain management patients.
