Absolutely bonkers is the only way to describe our meal here. We walked in with zero expectations…read moreand walked out already planning our next trip back to Dublin just to eat here again. We nearly broke our rule on not eating at the same restaurant twice while on vacation. Every single dish that came to our table was a small revelation. The flavors were bold, the presentation was beautiful, and you could tell real care went into every plate. We tried a little bit of everything and there was not a single miss. Huge shoutout to our server Matt, who took care of us all night. You can tell he has deep roots in this community and genuine pride in the history of the place, and it showed in how he talked about the menu and the restaurant. He made the whole experience even better with his warmth and knowledge. If you are visiting Dublin, do not skip The Boxty House. Ask for Matt if you can. Five stars, easily.

It was not too loud in our seats by the window where we could watch the action in Temple Bar. Boxty - think of a potato version of a crepe (a little thicker) - Gaelic boxty - 4/5 solid offering with a generous portion of steak on top of the boxty and with mushrooms and mushroom sauce - Chicken boxty - 4/5 chicken breast wrapped in boxty with a roasted red pepper on top and slice of chorizo (I didn't care much for the chorizo but my partner happily ate it) with tasty sauce with cooked chopped onions - concannon - 4/5 basically mashed potatoes on top of a little bit of cooked kale (said cabbage too but I didn't see it) - green beans with lemon and goat cheese - 4/5, tangy lemon forward I know people say this is touristy and that is likely since it is in Temple Bar and I don't see why that's a problem! Definitely worth trying when you're in the area.

Conveniently located across from Outhouse. Cozy vibe with board games, if you wish. Nice reliable…read morepub fare menu. Halloumi Fries: Loving the squeaky cheese center and crispy exterior. Perfect if you want a firmer snacking appetizer experience than mozzarella sticks. Very rich though, so come hungry if you're gonna get this in addition to a meal. Beef and Stout Stew: Lots of nice stewy liquid to go with the mashed potatoes. The beef itself was moderately tender. Not tough, though not fall apart. Some great flavors. Fish and Chips: Pretty standard. Crispy fish batter, flaky interior. Crispy chips and fluffy potato inside. The mushy peas where a bit too grainy and not that mushy actually.

First, great music. Second, great beer…read more Third, great food. We stopped in on a dreary late afternoon after visiting the Tenement Museum at Henrietta street. The Beef Stew and Mac & Cheese was just what we needed! The Beef Stew was super flavorful, dark in color, nice bite sized chunks of beef (and plenty of them), and then a mound (!) of mashed potatoes on top. It was divine! The Mac & Cheese with pulled pork had a sweet-ish profile. Homemade Mac & Cheese is the base, and then pulled pork (in a BBQ sauce) is layered on top. THEN they sprinkle cheese over the whole thing to give it a nice crunchy top. They have beer flights ("taster trays") of the draft beer, plus cans available and even "casks" (which isn't on tap, and once opened needs to be drunk!) Last, the folks who work here are really nice and they seem to attract a very nice clientele. Plus there are games. This seems like a pretty special place all around.
