I'm an ambiance girl and this restaurant was chosen by a friend on our trip. When you walk in there are TVs that show the menu items.. which turned me off at first .. but actually ended up being quite helpful especially not being familiar with the dishes. I asked the waiter what his recommendation was between the Guinness stew and lamb shank. Lamb shank is was and he did not steer me wrong. it was the BEST LAMB SHANK I've ever had in my life! Travels to Dublin from the US, and was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of places to grab a proper Irish meal. So, I picked The Quay's Irish Restaurant simply to end my tortuous indecisiveness and so glad I did! The staff were AMAZING, and so was everything else. The quality of food and the vibe left me feeling full, satisfied and wanting more! I had the fish and chips with mushy peas, and order of crispy wings and a cappuccino. My slow cooked beef & Guinness stew was tasty. Fats around the beef chunks so the meat was tender. Lunch menu seems to be a better deal, along with the wait time if you can eat early before 5pm. You can order regular menu during the lunch time too. It is super popular establishment so expect to wait a while during the dinner time. Fantastic! Fun fact for us tourists visiting Dublin, even though this says Restaurant, should you be at a pub and see flowers outside, they serve food. Quays came through with amazing food! After a busy day of walking through Dublin, we needed more fuel to keep going. Dublin was packed at this particular time but Quays looked less crowded so we hopped in. Ambiance is what you'd expect from Dublin; warm and inviting. The seafood soup was amazing even on a warmer day and the fish and chips my daughter had were proper and delicious. She especially liked the tartar sauce served in a shell. For me, I crushed a plated of bangers and mash. That could've slowed me down! After a heaping pile of mash, I was asked if wanted anything else and I did--a nap! But, once it settled and I drank a pint of the black stuff (as a digestion aid!) I came here because I heard the fish and chips were great. I ended up ordering an order of the fish and chips and an Irish coffee for the first time. The Irish coffee was reminiscent of an espresso martini, just with whiskey. The fish and chips came pretty crispy with tartar sauce and chips that tasted great! Looking around it was a lot of tourist so I was pretty hesitant on dining in, but was pleasantly surprised. My meal altogether was close to $40 USD. The service was good. Definitely call your waiter when you're ready for the check. If you're staying in the temple bar area I think this is a great option for a quick lunch or dinner before going to the pubs. read more

I had some time to kill before a dinner reservation and decided to pop into Quays (pronounced like Kays). It was one of the few pubs around where I could actually find an empty barstool and it turned out to be great timing since live music was just about to begin. Since I'm not much of a beer drinker, I opted for a Bulmer's cider which I enjoyed. The live music was really nice too. Definitely not traditional Irish music on this particular evening but the singer's voice was great and it was pretty entertaining to hear him cover a bunch of American country songs. The inside is super cozy and exactly what you'd expect in an old school pub. When I was there, it was decorated for Christmas which really added to the charm. This place is located in the heart of Temple Bar so it's definitely a tourist trap. If I was planning on staying for more than a couple pints, I probably would've chosen someplace else given the fact that each pint was around 9 euros -- definitely a rip off. If you have time to kill, venture into Quays but know that you can probably find a more traditional Irish pub for less money elsewhere. read more

We stopped in here for dinner because it's very popular based on the line forming, and our goal was to only eat traditional Irish food. We were told the wait was about 30 minutes, they gave us a number and we headed to the bar to kill time. The bartender was not at all creative when I asked her what she could make with the strawberry gin so I had to walk her through making a cocktail. Once it was our turn we were seated on the far side of the kitchen in a little walkway at a 2 top. Our server was quick to arrive, take additional drink orders and get our food started. I ordered the Guinness stew and my hubby ordered the lamb shank. Both were tasty, but definitely do try the lamb! Wonderful pub/restaurant with amazing food and atmosphere. After a quick search on find me gluten free we were close to Quay's so decided to stop in! Oh my! I am happy we did!! I ordered an Irish stew thinking I'd soak in some local flavor, but I was honestly disappointed. This may be a "me" issue, and not a them issue, but in my mind stew is thick and flavorful. My friends and I were looking for a place to get fish and chips, and The Quays Irish Restaurant popped up from our search. We were at The Quays' pub the night before, but we didn't notice that they had a restaurant. The restaurant portion was actually located up a flight of stairs from the pub area. We had dinner at around 5pm on a Monday night. The dining area looked like your standard pub-style restaurant. Our server was friendly, and our food and drinks came out in a timely manner. I know that my intent was to get fish and chips, but as we were getting to our table I passed by a couple who were eating some type of stew. The stew looked amazing, so I opted to get it instead. The Quays Irish Restaurant offered two types of stew: one was more of a traditional stew and the other was a beef and Guinness stew. Our server said that I couldn't go wrong with either, but I went with the beef and Guinness stew since it seemed to be the more unique one. This stew was honestly the best thing I ate my entire trip. It was the ultimate comfort food. The broth was savory, and the beef was incredibly tender. I did try one of my friend's fried fish from her fish and chips plate. Glad I went with the stew! Came to The Quays on a very busy Saturday night in Dublin. We didn't have a reservation and it was understandably busy so we had a long wait. They have a very efficient number system to sit people. Our group of four made a quick pit stop at Quays after hearing live music from the street. The establishment was pretty large with a wrap around bar that spanned two rooms and a large dining area spaced out into sections. Our bartender was a joy to banter with and was extremely kind knowing we were not local to the area. We got a mix of drinks including a local irish whiskey and beer. The Powers Irish Whiskey she recommended may be my new go to this trip! The live music was impeccable as they did a blend of well know songs (even to our group) and classic irish jigs. Got a number at the top of the stairs and was able to grab a drink at the bar. Our server was very friendly and moved us to a table with better AC as it was a bit hot up by the kitchen. Our food was served up fresh and piping hot. The fish had a bit of extra oil to my liking, but was super hot. Chips the same.. salty and crispy. The chicken dish was very flavorful and had plenty of veggies to boot. Don't forget your Guinness as it's cold and refreshing! View from the table down to the street. We arrived late in Dublin and after getting settled in to our airbnb, we were starving. Restaurants close relatively early (imo) and then your only food options are pubs. However we were traveling with a baby who wouldn't be allowed into a pub past the time when most restaurants close anyways. We decided on The Quays as it was just around the corner from our airbnb and open a half hour to hour later than most other restaurants. Fish and chips is one of the best I've had. Service... meh... wham bam thank you sir big city like. Fish is 1 inch thick quality perfection fried. Even the chips are totally crisp. We had a great dinner here, scooting in just before a rainstorm started. I had a Guinness, but they had a lot of other options of draught beers and other beverages too. The traditional Irish lamb stew was delicious. The lamb was tender and flavorful, and the seasoning was perfect. The others in my group enjoyed their meals as well which included the cottage pie and bangers and mash. For dessert, we shared an apple crumble which came with custard and cream. After eating at the Temple bar and the music came to end, I searched out another establishment and found Quays. Not a lot going on here per say but they did have Guinness and live music. I ordered a beer or two and enjoyed the ambience and music. Service was Prompt and professional. The two fellows did a fine job and even played a favorite song of mine by the High Kings, "Red is the Rose" which brought a tear to my eye as I lost my Bonny Irish Lass in 2018 to cancer.
