An awesome place to rent a boat. We rented a pontoon boat for four people, half off, 4.5 hours (half day rental). An amazing experience! The gas was cheap since we had a small engine -- you pay for the gas at the end based off of how much of the tank you use. The service men and women at the dock were super nice. We were 15 minutes late returning the boat, but it was the end of the day and didn't ask for a late fee (it's usually a lot if you're 30 minutes late or more). The deal was awesome, the views awesome! No boating license needed because of the small engine. Overall amazing. read more

On the week of July 4th our boat broke down on the lake and had to be towed. We wanted a Mercruiser dealer for a repair. I suggested Fay's Boatyard to the Seatow driver. I had seen their ads and good things about them. Since we were from RI, I figured that was the end of our boating vacation and celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary! When we checked in with staff, we told them about our situation and they said we will see what they could do. We were staying in Meredith, and an employee offered us a ride even though it was closing time. The following morning we received a call from Jeff Fay explaining which part they replaced and the boat was good to go! He was sending someone to pick us up! As I hung up the phone we thought "You have to be kidding me!" The boat was not purchased from them and we do not know anyone working at the yard. We bought two Hobie Mirage Eclipses from Faye's Marina three years ago and they have been fabulous. One of them broke recently and I borrowed a friend's truck to bring it to Faye's to be repaired. When I went to pick up the repaired Eclipse two days ago and brought it home, I discovered as soon as I tried to use it that afternoon that the repair had not worked (the Eclipse is a fussy piece of equipment) and called Melissa at Faye's. She sent Tavis (who successfully repaired it) TO OUR HOUSE the next morning so that I didn't have to borrow the truck again. The best test of a good service is service recovery: fixing the problem when something goes wrong. Faye's clearly passed the test! I will buy from and use Faye's again! read more

Rewrite: At first I was disappointed with Fay's. But after making the trip to RI to see the manufacturer of my sailboat directly... FAY"S YOU ROCK! I was in the area and knew about this place. They are an authorized dealer for SunFish sailboats... I was hoping for a decent selection when it came to my Fish.... ahh, there was one small wall. Granted it did give me an idea on pricing.. but there was a lot of "I can order that."... SO THAT WAS WHAT I WROTE ORIGINALLY, FAY'S HAD MORE SELECTION THAN THE MANUFACTURER. AND IF I BRING MY BOAT UP TO THEM, THEM WILL INSTALL FOR A FAIR HOURLY RATE. Not really impressed... since I'm in the northeast, instead of ordering, I'll take the day off and drive directly to the manufacture instead of dealing with "I can order that." I want to see and touch what I'm getting... SO I DID GO TO THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY, YES I CAN ORDER ONLINE, BUT I CAN ALSO HAVE IT ORDERED, DELIVERED AND INSTALLED A FEW HOURS NORTH. They did have my centre board and rudder in stock... custom made...(Granted it is no longer manufactured) Will say the guy was helpful once he realized that we were boaters, and not tourists. THIS GUYS KNOWS HIS STUFF WHEN IT COMES IT THE OLDER BOATS UNLIKE THE MANUFACTURER I WILL SAY AFTER REWRITING THIS, DEPENDING ON WHAT I NEED DONE, I MAKE THE TRIP NORTH AND TALK TO A REPUTABLE KNOWLEDGABLE PERSON BEFORE DOING IT MYSELF or I"LL JUST BRING THE BOAT TO THEM AND NOT MESS WITH IT... I have had my boat stored there for 5 or 6 years now. I use the valet service and have found it and the people working on that aspect of the boatyard to be fantastic. They winterize my boat each season, and then in the spring, they clean the boat up, charge the batteries, fill the tank (check the gas), and have it ready for me when I call. The guys working the docks there are great and provided some timely help when my kill switch stuck last season out on the lake. I would recommend them to anyone needing a valet service on Winnie. read more

Worst service and customer care ever received. After first repair left boat in worsened condition we took it back. It sat there for three weeks. Two reminder phone calls checking on the boat only to pick it up untouched. I can't imagine. Calls unreturned, answers full of non committal response such as was the boat worked on , couldn't even determine. A 50 year islander I can only say shame on you read more

I keep two boats at Fays. Have for years. One is a 1948 Mahogany Chris-Craft, the other is a Boston Whaler. I would not keep either in any other place, period. Fays is the place to go for wonderful service. True they get busy in the middle of summer. Still whenever I have had a problem, they do what ever is needed to get me going again. For routine maintenance, cosmetic, and non-emergency work. I let them know in the fall, and it's done by spring. It's easy, and friendly. No worries at all. What more do you want in a marina? I encourage you to try Fay's first. read more

Fay's Boat Yard saved my weekend. They were able to efficiently and quickly repair my boat. I dropped it off on a Monday and they replaced multiple gaskets and my trim pump by Thursday. I also gas up at the dock weekly. The gas dock attendants were the ones who noticed that I was leaking something! Excellent customer service and quality work all around. read more

I wouldn't recommend going to Fay's Boat Yard for many reasons. First, when it comes to buying things, you'll have to follow this one old "rule": "If you didn't buy it here, don't bring it here, or you get kicked outta here". That's what some people learned the hard way. Here are a few stories that actually happened in the boat yard. A family was going on there sailboat for many years at Fays Boat Yard, until one day, the father who is the owner of the boat, showed up on the docks with a bag of brand new life jackets that he bought for his family at another marine store down the street. Merill, who is the owner of the boat yard, saw the guy with the bag of life jackets and questioned him on where he got them. He said he got them at the marine store down the street. Merill got mad, because he didn't buy the life jackets at his marine store, and then, he kicked the whole family out of the boat yard, just because a guy decided to buy a couple pairs of life jackets at another marine store, rather than Merill's. Did you think that was crazy? Well, here's another story that will be much crazier. One day, a guy was going to park his almost brand new truck, which was only 2 months old, with an empty trailer attached to it. With the loud sounds of forklifts roaring by, be couldn't hear the employee who was telling him of which parking space to park in, and he misunderstood and parked in the wrong parking space. The guy inside the truck exited the truck, and you know what happened? The employees of the boat yard picked the truck up. With a forklift. Yep, call me stupid, but that's what happened. The forklift however, was designed only for picking up boats, and boats only, not trucks... Using the forklift, they raised the truck ten feet in the air and moved the truck to its correct parking space. I'm not sure what happened to the trailer, but I don't think what happened to it was good. The two month old truck had severe damage on its under side, with the exhaust pipe messed up. The truck owner was angry that the boat yard would do such a thing, and he decided to take them to court, but the case failed. Also, here's something that happened recently in August 2011 that you may want to know. In the men's bathroom, the one closest to the launch ramp which has three showers next to it, someone was throwing gum in the urinal. So they made a small sign saying "Please throw gum in trash not urinal". They then placed the sign inside the urinal for a few days for everyone to pee on. Then, they removed the sign, and placed it on top of the urinal. They left it there for a few more days for it to get all moldy. Then they place it on the sink, where you wash your hands. Disgusting -.- And then do you know what they do? they get a tac and they take the moldy sign and post it on the wall. So when your trying to take a pee, you have a moldy sign socked with urine in front of your face. That was enough. I'm sick of them playing with the sign, moving it everywhere. They could've just kept it in the urinal, or they could of just threw it away and made a new one and post it on the wall. How hard is it to make a cardboard sign with a marker? It must be hard for them if there moving a urine soaked sign everywhere. I just got some toilet paper, and removed the sign myself and threw it away, and then I washed my hands well. Also, whats with these little disposable soap pumps? There kinda inconvenient, and they really need to get a wall pump, like the ones at Mc Donalds. Also, I had a paddle boat, that I liked to use around the lake. We stored it near our boat next to a tree, then this year, there's a huge crack in it. It took the boat yard a long time to repair it. 2 months to be exact. The "professional" repairs were really ghetto. The outside repair had this weird stuff over the crack, which is barely noticeable from a long distance, but since the interior of the boat is red, they put white tape in the interior crack which makes it look ugly. After draining all the water that got in the boat due to the rain and snow last season, we put it in the water, and after just a few minutes, the boat was rapidly leaking and we had to take it out of the water fast before it sunk. If your going to have any of your boats repaired, don't get it repaired at fays, unless you want your boat 40 feet underwater. One good thing about Fay's is that they did have a party this year which was awesome, but overall, the cons out weigh the pros, so I would consider going to another boat yard. Another good thing is that the prices are extremely cheap sometimes, and you may be lucky enough to get a good deal. The bottom line is, I would not recommend going to this boat yard. I would recommend that you go to another boat yard that doesn't have as much problems as this one. read more

Great family owned and run business, where they treat us like family. We've been going to Fay's for years, through several power boats and sailboats. We've most recently purchased a new powerboat from them, and could not be happier with the service we've received start to finish; from the boat selection/test drive, to the maintenance team to the guys in the storage house who have helped us when we had a dock issue and needed to have the boat valeted for a brief stint, we've been treated with kindness and courtesy across the board. Even with my little sailboat, which has been stored there for the past 20 years, Fay's has shown great care and has gone the extra mile of even bringing it (on its trailer) to my home a mile or so down the street when my car with trailer hitch died unexpectedly. The team in the Ship has been wonderful to work with on the ongoing maintenance/replacement of older parts for my very old (and well loved 420) and has helped me to track down some hard to locate items so that she's stayed lakeworthy. The fiberglass repair at Fay's is masterful... matching the colors exactly on my cracked air tank on the 420 so that it looks perfect, and even a substantial ding that happened in the hull of the powerboat was expertly, and quickly repaired. Thanks Fay's for the ongoing great service. It's so nice to be greeted by name and with a smile when we come in. read more
