The entire crew including Alex, the owner and all the girls who work in the store are very friendly and go out of there way to help you out! When launching or taking your boat out of the water the crew goes way out of there way to help you out as well. We rented a Pontoon Boat from Meridith Marina for 3 days. We had a fantastic vacation all the way up until we returned the pontoon boat. John Abear, the Service Manager, found a supposed "Rub Mark" on one of the supports and gave us a bill for $ 2,989.00! We explained we never went near any other vessels and had the boat tied up by itself at the private Mills Falls dock. We explained this to Mr Abear, but it did not matter. One of our members is an insurance adjuster and runs into these types of situations often. He attempted to discuss that fact that most organizations will hire a company to buff out the "Rub Mark". Mr. Abear dismissed the thought immediately. We got 3 quotes from other marina's. The prices to repair the rub mark ranged from $ 385 to just under $ 900. Mr Abear again dismissed the results of our efforts immediately. A wonderful Once in a Lifetime vacation was tainted by an unscrupulous Mr. Abear at Meredith Marina. Mr Abear has a real racket going. He charges unsuspecting people for the boat rental and then comes back and charges them almost the same amount for a blemish on their vessel. Meridith Marina must make almost as much money from damage fees as they do for rentals. I would really like to know if other families have run into the same dishonesty that we experienced. And, we would appreciate any supporting comments from others that have experienced the same type of treatment. Signed, I will Never, Ever do business or refer Mr. Abear and Meridith Marina. Get Ready, Get Set, Get Elevated!…read more Bottom Line Up Front: This is our second year using Elevated Wake and once again,e had a wonderful, enjoyable, vigorous and "elevated" time for a good price. For four hours, pre-teens to "teens in thier fifties" did it all; water skiing, swimming, wake surfing and "hyper-tubing." The Good: One word -- Captain Pat! Ok that is two words, but one name never to forget. Captain Pat was an experienced boat Captain and water sports instructor (has been doing this for 30 years) and knows in the Lake well. He got us underway on time, was prepared, and was a delightful host, instructor and DJ. We had three new water-skiers ages ranging from pre-teen to "salty" adult that Pat successfully got up on skis within a few tries. We had one new wake surfer that he had up within two tries. Pat was patient, experienced, and very insightful; he knew what to say and how to say it to each participant, literally and figuratively, and even-keeled. As far as tubing goes, with a few hand signals, the tubers are in control, and the speeds range from slow and steady, fast and furious, to ludicrous speed. Fun was had by all in our group. Four hours on the water was the sweet spot for our group of nine. We started on time and finished promptly on time. Captain Pat picked us up and dropped us off at our location on the lake. His company also provides services other lakes in the area, and offer boat rentals. The Bad: There was nothing bad! From start to finish, we had a wonderful time -- Pat was a great captain and host. He let us choose the music for each participant and he entertained all our questions. The Ugly: Other than my slalom ski attempts, there was nothing ugly! I highly recommend Captain Pat and Elevated Wake Company! If you find yourself in Lake Winnipesaukee, this is definitely an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. They say a picture is worth 1000 words, so I am going to end my post with a few that we snapped along the way. May you have fair winds, and Elevated Wake waters!

I joined yelp just so that I could leave this review... My wife and I decided on short notice to try and rent a boat for the day. After calling several marinas I contacted Brown's. Every contact I had with the company after that was pure pleasure, The owners spent a lot of time listening to my situation, explaining to my satisfaction every answer to my questions, and even arranged for a rental situation to accommodate my particular request. You could not ask for a more pleasant couple with with whom to work. Even their dog was friendly and welcoming! The next day I came in to pick up my rental. The staff members who set us up with the boat were clearly interested in our safety, our understanding of the important aspects of the rental, and our enjoyment of the day ahead. I know they are a busy marina (we were the last rental boat available that day) but they certainly didn't treat us like we were one of many. Rather, we were treated like their most important customer. The boat was amazing - clean, modern, impeccably maintained, and absolutely a joy to operate. Pick up and drop off was the epitome of "simplicity." If I didn't know better I'd even suspect they had something to do with he weather that was supposed to be dreary but turned out to be fantastic. Value? I don't know. There are some things you shop around for. I cannot tell you if you will save $5 on a similar boat in a different marina. If you can, then good luck to you. There are some things worth the peace of mind you receive when working with big ticket items (like renting a $30,000 piece of equipment that will be keeping you above 90 feet of water for 8 hours). My experience with Brown's has clearly sealed my future plans for boat rentals. I've spent as much as possible of my summer on Lake Winnepesaukee for 20 years. I've used Shep Brown's exclusively for service of several boats along the way, always with satisfaction. The service advisors really know their business. Service is reasonably fast, right the first time, and priced fairly. I've also rented boats from Shep's on three occasions when I needed a larger boat for visiting guests. The rental process was handled very efficiently and professionally, the boats were meticulously maintained and new-looking, and the price was reasonable. I bought one of those rental boats at the end of the summer season. It looked and drove like new, and the price was very fair. I'm a happy customer, all 'round. Yesterday I was pulling my boat out for the winter, at Shep's launching site. I got the boat onto the trailer with no trouble, but as I pulled it out of the water both the trailer tires went flat. Like rolling-off-the-rim flat. My dumb fault: the tires were old and oxidized, and I hadn't even checked the pressures this year. But it was 4:55 PM on a Saturday, and Shep's was closing. Bill, the owner, assessed the situation with me and it was clear I needed two new tires. In order to remove the wheels, so that I could get new tires mounted on them, I needed to get the trailer up on blocks. I had neither a jack nor blocks. So Bill simply went to get the huge boat forklift, and some blocks and a lug wrench. He spent about 30 minutes of his own Saturday evening getting me out of trouble. And wouldn't accept any compensation beyond my thanks and a handshake. Now THAT is service! read more

I have been having issues with a 2006 50hp Mercury Outboard on my pontoon boat for a couple of years now and had two other marine service outfits try and fail to fix the issue. Motor kept cutting out in trolling speed so I replaced the plugs, thermostat, removed bad gas, etc., but nothing fixed it. To note; a tree fell on it last year the weekend after the 4th of July and it took me 3 months to completely rebuild it (myself!). I stopped in at Goodhue and spoke with Dan Gladden who spent about 30 minutes with me going over what it could be. They were behind schedule by about three weeks and told me to bring it in the third week of June. When I brought it in, I met with Ron Clark who took all my information and went over the pontoon boat with me. They said that they wouldn't be able to look at it until the Friday before the 4th of July. They finally called me to let me know that everything was fixed and working properly. Not only that, the mechanic noticed a couple of things that I did not properly reattach after the redo (battery cables). When I got the boat back to our lake, I ran it for about an hour in trolling speed and it ran perfectly! To top everything off, they got the boat back to me the weekend before the 4th, two weeks earlier than I expected!!! Both Ron and Dan were excellent and professional. I believe the mechanic/technician was Andrew Vansickle and he deserves a round of applause!!! Much appreciation from a customer for life! read more

I was amazed at how easy it was to rent a boat just a few days before my one week vacation to Lake Winnepasaukee. They even held my reservation with out a credit card because I forgot it when I called- I arrived a few days later and was greeted with smiles. Minutes later I was on the water and of course I was your typical tourist nightmare, got lost on the water, couldn't read the map, dropped my phone in the water, almost ran out of gas, my dog ate my home work, you name it- all my fault- my friend on shore called Sheps and explained I was lost- the owner Bill Jr got in his boat and rescued me- with laughter and smiles- didn't charge me a dime and led me home. I'm a customer for life and can't thank Bill Jr and the Sheps crew for such wonderful service and for saving my vacation. read more

Rented a pontoon last weekend with the family, and it was perfect! The boat was spotless, and the check out and check in are thorough, and they are very kind and helpful throughout the whole process. The rental business is very stressful, and I applaud them for their amazing service. The rental department was very accommodating, and the rental managers Kayla and Jon were very cool!! I will say that they handle rude customers exceptionally, as I was waiting for a staff member and I saw them dealing with a very rude customer, and they were very professional with them. Every one of them is true! Friendly staff that was helpful answering all my silly questions. Most of them are kids so don't be alarmed - they're definitely smarter than you! Rented a pontoon boat for the day for $400 which was the same price as a 2hr guided boat tour. Not cheap, but absolutely worth it. You get the boat from 9am - 4pm so spend the whole day out on the lake! Lake Winnisquam has a sand bar right near the marina where you can anchor up for a redneck yacht party. Awesome time all around! Boat was in great condition, clean, and pretty new. Without a license, the boat goes up to only 15mph so it's a nice chill ride. Staff shows you the ropes before going out on the water. Dogs are welcome on the rentals as well!!

Without warning I got a call from Scott on Labor Day weekend, and he informed me that he no longer wanted to store and service my boat. He said it was a transport safety issue because of the configuration of my boat, but if I had a trailer it would be fine. So I went to get a proper fitted trailer for it, only to find out, this time from Denise, that my toon was too big (like the other 35 toons stored there?) unwieldy (like the other 35 toons stored there?), they are trying to get away from shrink-wrapping boats (like the other 35 toons stored there?) and they are shorthanded (I believe this one may be true). So, I stared at her as she lied to me, and just smiled at her. I'm not dumb, I get the message... As a full-timer resident at the lake, I spoke to a few of my Moultonborough friends, who have been living here for a whole lot longer than I have. They told me that they had seen it before from Trexler's (and 2 others). Apparently, they knock out lower-value customers to get higher-value ones when they are full. It's a business decision based on two things. First, Scott likely made a number of $100,000 scores in new boat sales this summer, and the owners of course expect winter storage, and second, all I ever pay to them, other than winter storage fees, is an oil change every 2 years. Between the two, I am just not worth it to them. Too small a fish, it would seem, when so many whales are right in front of them. It's even possible that they decided who would have to go much earlier than September. If that is so, waiting so long to tell me before the winter storage time is really a "low-rent" move, indeed. Thankfully, with the new trailer, my choices for boatyards went way up. I found a replacement, and unlike Trexler's, most of the marinas have a much better reputation in how they treat their long-term customers. I was smart enough to check them out with my longer-term lake friends this time. I bring this up to stress to you that, (1) you should always solicit ideas from your full-time lake boat-owner friends before selecting a boatyard. It is small up here, and everyone knows everyone. You can easily get info on who the reputable and not reputable folks are. Most of the boatyard owners know that word-of-mouth is an important part of their sustainable business, but let's face it, it's boom times up here, so the allure of more and easy money is strong. (2) if you have your boat stored and serviced at Trexler's, including the folks who just bought those $100,000 boats from them, you may become a long timer with them for years, but have minimal boat issues. I would warn you to be on the lookout for that Labor Day weekend call. You won't know when your number comes up! In the end, it's a business decision, and that trumps everything. No hard feelings, old chap!

He looked things over quick and you could just tell that he really knew what he was talking about. He gave me some prices up front and told me how long he thought it would take. I had my boat back in the water in just 2 days (and that was only because they had to get a part for it). And they were 100% fair on cost. It is rare anymore that a business will find you in a desperate situation and not try to take advantage of you............Can't say enough about how great they were. I will recommend this place to everyone.
