I want to give a shout out to Goodhue Boat Co. We bought a pontoon boat from them last September, and when we went to pick it up they couldn't have been nicer. They detailed the boat, gave us bumpers, life vests, and 4 lines so we could tie the boat off. I felt we paid a reasonable amount, I was happy, and took delivery Labor Day weekend. They winterized it, stored it, and got it ready for a June pick-up. I'm now dealing with the service department, and I feel they are bending over backwards to accommodate us. The Service Department at Goodhue is awesome, but they really proved themselves this weekend! We had a starter problem with our Cobalt surf boat that started a week ago. They were responsive to emails and phone calls regarding the problem. When the problem persisted this weekend, Kevin came out and replaced our starter while the boat was still on the water - not an easy task for sure! Thanks to the folks at Goodhue for saving my Fourth of July. At 3PM on July 3 I limped over there with one engine out on my boat. Turns out it needed a new water pump pulley assembly. They diagnosed it immediately, gave me a ride home, and said they'd try to find the part and fix it in the morning. Kevin drove to a marina in another town to get the part that night and the boat was back in the water by 10AM July 4. Awesome "above and beyond" service. They've maintained and stored my boat for 20 years. No one is perfect, but they're nice folks and always try to do the right thing and be helpful. A very belated review, as we rented in Sept 2025. We had trouble out on the water and the crew was very timely and patient coming out to tow us in. Overall, they were patient, explained the boat well, and were really flexible with our requests. The bowrider was a good model of boat for my wife and I. With my disabled husband, it is challenging getting him in & out of the boat. Dockhands Jake, Graham,Ryker and others were so helpful. I do not recommend Goodhue Boat Company. After a couple of good days enjoying the lakes with our family we decided to take a cruise around Frye island to try to catch a famous Sebago sunset. About 3/4 of the way around the island the boat just died. I've been around boats all of my life so I took 45 minutes trying to diagnose the problem. When we couldn't figure it out we called Goodhue knowing it was after hours. We then called several emergency services for them all to go to voicemail. 911 got us tow Sebago after 3 hours to rescue us for a $700 tow. We sat through a thunderstorm, 30 mph winds and an anchor which did not hold the boat. Luckily enough I was able to swim close enough to a mooring and latch on before ending up on the rocks. The next morning I called Goodhue just before they opened and explained what happened. They sent someone out 2 hours later who determined the boat ran out of gas. I watched that gas gauge fall from 100% every single decimal to its final reading of 72.8%. This gave me every indication that the gas gauge was working correctly. I said to my family several times over 2 days that "this boat either has a gigantic gas tank or is extremely efficient". I honestly could not believe that the boat had run out of gas. Goodhue does not want to take responsibility for their faulty equipment causing a very dangerous and life threatening situation. They claim to have explained the gas gauge doesn't work, but a teenager mumbling during a safety briefing that the gas gauge might not work isn't properly notifying a customer of faulty equipment. Expectations of something so vital should be plastered on the dash or handed on a piece of paper to the renter. While this is the second time we have rented from Goodhue, the first time didn't go well either. We had to be rescued the first time after the battery died while we stopped for lunch. We were told that we needed to shut the battery disconnect off overnight, but we did not expect the battery to die with all accessories off in less than 2 hours. I have been boating my entire life. I've spent 1-2 weeks on long lake/Sebago for over 40 years. I also live a couple miles from the ocean. I've owned 4 boats myself and my family owned multiple boats as I was growing up. I've never been stranded outside of renting from Goodhue. I had good experiences renting multiple times each from Long Beach marina and kettle cove marina. Goodhue rents faulty equipment and does not take responsibility for it. I highly recommend going to a reliable marina. read more

Everything was going great. Talked to the sales guy and put a $500 deposit on the boat that day on saturday. The following Wednesday we confirmed that we had financing and would like to move forward. So serious in this transaction that we purchased a brand new trailer for it. While picking up the new trailer we stopped by to drop it off. Was informed that they took out the boat and it needed a few parts and that it would be ready the following week. Told them great I'll be down to drop off the check and take it home. That day came and in the morning I called and they said that it needed more work. We asked if it would be ready in 10 days and the sales guy said absolutely. Since it was a Saturday he said he would call me on Monday to let me know that they had shipped out the part to be fixed. Did not receive a call on Monday. Sent a text to him on Tuesday with no call back. Called Wednesday and and received a text that the part was sent out. Unclear with what was sent out I called sales to find out. I then informed him again we needed it in 7 days and asked when the part was sent out. He didn't know and said he would get a hold of the service department when he got a chance. No call back so I decided to call the service department. They were nice and I explained the situation. I offed to go get the part or purchase a new one if it would help. he said he would look into it call me right back. I called an hour later due to being out of service. Service guys attitude changed and clearly did not want to talk to me. after getting the hint that I wasn't going anywhere with the conversation he said he would call me back and hung up. since then I have received one texted back the day before we left on our island trip. I have called many times and left messages with no answer. Another week has gone by after spend a large sum of money to us. Got my lawyer involved today and waiting to get our money back. read more

I should have written this months ago but hopefully it will come in handy for next years busy season. In a few short words, Goodhue Boat Company rocks! Here is my story: Family vacation planned in Winnipesaukee last August....in the year of Covid. Hmmm, what can we do that is both fun and responsibly distancing? Let's rent a boat! So I'm guessing that's what everyone else is doing, so the chances of getting what we want is slim to none, but let's give it a shot. Oh, did I also mention I was 6 months pregnant? So that limits the options too. Goodhue was so incredibly accommodating to the full scope of our situation. They helped us pick out the best suited boat that would give us room to move around, that had a little speed to it, but not too much that would send me into the ER welcoming an early arrival. We were flexible on days but the day we rented, there was a big storm coming in. So they put un on a waiting list for another day (yes they were fully booked). As luck, fate, or divine intervention would have it, there was a cancellation on the exact boat we wanted on the day we wanted and they called us right away to book it. Woo hoo! When we arrived they were incredibly easy to get everything going. Payment, life jackets...etc. They even have ice and concessions you can get and bring with you. Having a very friendly staff getting us set up and pushed off made the whole thing so easy. Returning the boat was just as easy and they welcomed us back with those same friendly smiles. The lake ended up being really choppy so we had to take it slow but we found a good spot for a little tubing (not me) and spent the full day enjoying the lake, the homes, the scenery, and each other. Just a quick tip, whoever is driving the boat does need a license so make sure you are prepared. I would rent from Goodhue again in a second. Worth every penny. read more

Kept my 13' boat all winter and was supposed to tune up the motor. Launched the boat the beginning of May, motor died on the way to our dock, son had to swim the boat in . Then they sent us a huge bill for fixing it. The boat sits at our dock and G & H has not made good on their promise to get back to us to troubleshoot the problem. Thx alot(sarcasm) for nothing G & H! We had a wonderful first experience. We recently rented a beautiful 26 ft. pontoon and double tube during our stay in Tuftonboro. It was about a 15 min boat ride to the house. What a bunch of buffoons running this joint. I had them store and winterize a jet ski. I tried to call a half dozen times to get it prepped for pickup and can never get through. They send a link to a website to schedule a pickup but the site won't let me log in and create an account. I physically go to the boat yard at 9 am and talk to a service tech and we agree on a 3 pm pickup. I go back at 3 and my jetski isn't even prepped and there is actually a 2nd jet ski sitting on my trailer!! I payed for the prep service and the dunce technicians actually seem surprised when I ask them to charge and start it which I have already paid for. Clowns the lot of them And for the final frosting on the cake they damaged the left rear light on my trailer and let me drive off without even telling me. Stay away from this place ! read more

It seems like this place has a bunch of teenagers running the business and no one is really there to help you they say that they'll give you a call back but they never do and even when you go there in person they'll be talking to two people on the phone and two customers at the same time so one person is trying to deal with four people at one time this place is the most unprofessional Boatyard that we've ever been to it seems like teenagers are running the business and everyone's running around and are not accomplishing anything read more

I have been boating for 10 years throughout the US and this is the worst place to rent from. First, it took them over an hour to get the boat ready, not because of covid but because they seemed to be very disorganized. The high school kids they had doing this had no manager to supervise them. Then we were given a tube without straps to hold on to because good ones, if any, had already been given out. Lastly the water skis were so worn out that the kids couldn't put them in even with adults' help. Stay away from this boat rental place. read more

Horrible. Horrible service. Took our money to store and service our boat for the winter. Not only did they not service it, they damaged our boat. Gave it back to us in an unsafe condition. Then the manager/owner was completely unapologetic and pretty much told us he shouldn't take on customers like me (not a wealthy big boat owner). I have never been more irate and felt more cheated in all my business dealings. I found a 2015 Cobalt boat that Goodhue & Hawkins advertised on boattrader.com. Dan, the owner, and I negotiated the price on the phone. When he sent the contract of sale he added a fee of $295.00 for "processing". The vessel was to be shipped to me in Maryland and Dan was not titling the boat in his home state of New Hampshire nor was any extra paperwork besides a contract of sale and a signature on the back of the title necessary. However he insisted on collecting the $295.00 processing fee. After a few days, Dan's salesman, Brian Black, called me to try to save the sale and told me that Cobalt charges $295.00 to transfer the warranty to the next owner. Cobalt does not charge for this service. I realized that Dan and Brian fabricated a tale to add additional profit to their sale. Therefore Dan, a/k/a Goodhue & Hawkins Navy Yard were deceptive, misleading, and untrustworthy. He also lost a customer. read more

Was looking ahead for a nice late August boating day, but found my batteries dead on arrival. I called Goodhue & Hawkins for help and they sent their service guy to remedy the problem. Thirty minutes later the boat was started and underway. I did go to their marina and had my two batteries replaced, gear lube and fuel topped off. Kudos to the service manager and tech who took care of me - professional and prompt. Knocked one star off as the prices are steep, but I will go back for future needs. read more
