We pulled our permits as "owner builder" which was a hard project, but got through it pretty well. However, I had trouble understanding what this report was all about. We had a lil hiccup with our report, it required our plans to be modified, which he took the extra steps to help us overcome. Jason tested our new ducting and discovered that our intake box was leaking air from the attic at a…read morerate of a small bedroom every 10 minutes. WOW. So in the summer, instead of sucking in air from the inside of the house, it would be be sucking in 100F air from outside, making the AC inefficient. He took the time to drive to the store to get sealant to fix the leaks inside the intake box, and spent an hour applying the sealant himself. Did not ask for any extra money, did not complain, had a great attitude, and really wanted to make sure that he gave 150% effort to the customer. Then he re-tested the system and the system passed this time showing barely any leakage. Gave us the report and the paperwork needed for the building inspector. If you do your own HVAC upgrade without a city permit, you think you save money by not having to spend money on HERS testing. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When it comes to spending money, I'm cheap. I didn't realize that Jason's job is to make sure that the extra money you spend on upgrading your ducts/AC equipment to more efficient equipment is not in vain due to leaks in your ducts A+++ experience with using this company for HERS testing, and will recommend to others to use this company.

When there were problems due to unexpected issues (as there always are), they came up with great solutions and were always fair and reasonable. After they upgraded the insulation and replaced the HVAC in my house, my utility costs have been cut by over 60% and my home is significantly more comfortable to live in. I've gone from a 3 zone system (with two 3 1/2 ton units) that always had hot and cold zones to a 1 zone system with one 3 1/2 ton unit. It's always the same temperature throughout the house for all seasons and I almost never have to think about adjusting them temperature because it now "just works". Believe me we have remodeled homes in NY, Altadena, San Marino, Pasadena, so we know what is reasonable. Jeremy arrived on time and to our surprise arrived with his father, a veteran electrician, and his son, now learning the business. They couldn't have been more efficient, neat and innovative. They replaced our old recessed halogen lights with state of the art LED. This was just not a replacement of the cans, since the old halogen lights were wired through some container that had to be opened and removed. Don''t ask me exactly, all I know is it took them time and effort. They even left us some halogen bulbs in case we needed to replace them in the back of the house. We will be changing those out for LED and will use Croff Electric. They were able to overcome a few jobs that had previously been done, before we owned the house, that had some questionable "fixes". They put in a new island electric outlet that took some doing, because there was little space between wine cooler and microwave. Everything was done to code. When they finished, I could hardly believe the care they took in cleaning up and putting things back in order, see Jeremy with a vacuum.

They reconnected the wires, fixed a screw that they noticed was stripped, and rehung the chandelier. Then they tested to make sure that it worked.
