I would strongly advise against attending this church, especially if you're considering bringing youth or vulnerable individuals into their environment. Back in 2017, I witnessed multiple concerning incidents that left a lasting negative impression. One of the earliest red flags was their outreach approach--representatives from this church would visit local high schools during lunch, enticing students with promises of free pizza, only to preach to them once the room was full. This kind of manipulation is not only unethical but deeply disrespectful to students' time and autonomy. That same year, they invited an internet personality--Woah Vicky--during a school lunch event. It was a confusing and frankly irresponsible decision, considering she is not a positive role model for young people. The situation escalated into a physical fight, putting several students in harm's way. What was most troubling was the presence of a young girl named Dynasty, who appeared to be neurodivergent and likely on the autism spectrum (though I cannot say for certain). She was caught in the chaos, and it was clear that bringing her into such an unstable situation was reckless and lacking any kind of appropriate supervision or sensitivity. Another deeply disturbing moment involved a very young child--around six years old--who fell and cracked her head open during a church event. I saw no safety protocols in place, no medical professional onsite, and instead of proper care or even a call to emergency services, the child and her sister were quietly taken home. This kind of negligence should never happen, especially when dealing with minors. Perhaps the most insidious issue was how the church involved youth in adult matters--conversations and drama that were far beyond what any child or teenager should be exposed to. Looking back as an adult, I can see clearly how inappropriate and damaging this was. The emotional and psychological consequences of this environment still linger for many who were involved. This church has caused more harm than good in the lives of those it claimed to serve. Please think twice before engaging with this organization. I've been waiting to do this review because I wanted to make sure I had all the information needed to post my own opinion. This church is a home. This church has everything for anyone. I've been going here for about 4 months with my children and nieces, they recently had their Child Dedications here as well. The Fearless Kids ministry is amazing, hands down, my kids love coming here. The people make you feel right at home, you can tell how much love and passion everyone has. I also attend the X18 service and for me, it's the best part of the week, something I genuinely look forward to throughout the week days. If you are in search of a church that will equip you on how to deep dive in the faith, this church is not it. This church is more like a super fun, lively pool party. With dope music, captivating aesthetics, attractive people, and great food. A party that shouts about the pool party being for Jesus... only for you to stay at the pool party long enough to realize... that Jesus is not even there. You will not learn how to deep dive at this church. BUT! You will be able to post cool poolside photos onto your Instagram feed. Pick what's more important to you. The appearance of godliness, or actually being equipped. I visited this church for three months to really discern the atmosphere. Attending both the Thursday "discipleship" sessions as well as Sundays. My group leader for the Thursday sessions spoke too much about the Latin culture, in EVERY SINGLE SESSION actually. Which caused a few people not to return. Honoring your culture is admirable but being mindful of everyone's cultural background (and keeping first things first. Our faith) to be inclusive requires wisdom. The Sunday sermons just felt off. Very "your season is coming" type of vibe. The pastor is definitely gifted, but there seems to be no anointing. And the anointing is what break yokes. It's like indulging in a handful of delicious marshmallows, temporarily feeling full, only to realize that it has no nutritional value at all. Just fluff, literally. Lastly, inspired by the movie "The Matrix" if you attend this church or choose to visit, I offer you the same choice as Neo. To take either The Red Pill (see the spirit behind what is really going on) or The Blue Pill (remain apart of a fiesta without the presence of the Father). Choose wisely. I really like this church. After four years of searching for a church community in LA I feel like I've found one. Everyone here is really nice and actually authentic. When it comes to building community, this church nails it. This is a great place to bring someone who doesn't know Jesus. I can't wait to attend events during the week as well as on Sunday. One of the things I don't like is the sheer VOLUME of the audio here... I am a young person who likes concerts and this place is often STILL too loud. I've had my Apple Watch warn me of high decibel exposure during worship. I deal with it, but sometimes it's hard to rest in and feel the presence of the Lord when the volume is far too much. I wish they would play some more quiet/slow songs on occasion but even then it's LOUD. It's like they've mixed for a stadium, when the space does not call for it due to its size. I guess also, because of the type of space that it is, there's a lot of extra noise. I feel for our brothers and sisters with auditory/sensory sensitivity, I don't think they'd be able to attend this church. Also: I love this church and the community it offers but if you're looking for a more thorough Bible study/discipleship/theology I haven't really seen that here yet. If you're looking for a trendy, energetic and youthful church then this is your spot. My experience with the church and leadership dates from 2009-2013. They love God and say they love their family, AKA church volunteers. That love tends to last as long as you will faithfully attend and serve the congregation. In 2012, a member told me, that God had told them that I was going to commit suicide in three years if I made a certain decision. I made that decision and then I left the church. The leadership shared that "Word from God" with the rest of the volunteers to bolster their faith and deepen their commitment to the church and its vision. Not too slowly, but most certainly assuredly, my one-time "family members" were distancing themselves from me. The year 2015 came and went, and I'm still alive. Since then, I earned my BA in Christian Ministries and my MDIV in Theology. I'm married, have kids, love God, and have been a vocational minister since 2014. If you want passion-laden worship or teaching that rhymes and has yelling then this might be the place for you. But be wary of people who shower you with love because of your devotion of time, money, or talent to their plans. In the end, they'll be looking out for what they believe God is doing through them, and less concerned about what God might be doing in your life if it does not align with their plans. Everything I have written did happen to me. I can't say whether or not the same culture exists today, but I can say the people who said those words to me are still there today. I have debated on writing this review for a while now. I was first introduced to FearlessLA as a high school student in 2016. They began holding mini meetings during lunch period to preach about the word of god. HOWEVER to lure these high school students they began with saying "we're giving out free pizza" to any high school student of course this is music to your ears. So I went and at the time I genuinely loved the message they were preaching. So much so I began to attend Wednesday bible study with other fellow high school students. Eventually I began going to Sunday service with the youth group at that time. I still went once I got into college, that's how much I had enjoyed it at the time. Eventually things began to get very weird. They make it seem all inclusive, open doors to any one of any background but once Pastor Christy said marriage is between a man and a woman and that god didn't want it any other way I was completely appalled. At that time I know several of the youth kids were actually in the LGBTQI+ community. Myself included. The last straw for me was once they had a guest Pastor come and speak mind you this is still 2016 the Black Lives Matter movement was gaining more traction. This pastor decides it's the perfect time to state that all lives matter not just black one. This pastor was a black man himself. Politics does NOT belong in religion. There's a reason why there's a separation of church and state. I never realized how odd this church is until I watched "The Secrets of Hillsong" on hulu. I know they are two separate church's but they both do the same thing. This church is just one giant concert and most leave after a few years because they want something more serious and after watching that documentary it set things into perspective really hard. It left me an emotional wreck for several weeks because I felt as though Fearless LA was deceitful with their message and tactics. I felt as though my relationship with god was somehow betrayed by this Church group. I would also like to add how their coffee shop workers are very rude and do constant side eye if you look a little different. One day we may see a documentary about Fearless however I do not believe it will be held in a positive light. read more

First off, if you think Fearless is prosperity gospel and health/wealth gospel, you have never actually been to one of those churches. I grew up in one and Fearless believing that God can heal and that giving is a good principle is not prosperity gospel. No church is going to meet your needs or fit all of your personal beliefs about what leadership should be doing. Having good music and a Pastor who has good speaking ability has no correlation to Hillsong or any other downfall of a church. That is just a ridiculous comparison and as mature adults we need to do better. I've seen the church continue to grow in a place like downtown LA that has so many challenges many of you would quit the first day. So please either bring your opinions to the actual pastors and discuss with them then form your opinions about how things should be run at a church you're not running or responsible for. Quick note to volunteers: you're volunteering and at any time you can step away and take a break. Don't wear yourself out, set no boundaries, and then be upset about your time being abused. My wife and I have served for years and also led one of the ministries here. When we got overwhelmed or busy, we stepped aside and let someone else lead. Time to be responsible for ourselves and stop blaming other people for being over worked as if you're being forced against your will. With that said everyone should be serving. The problem is only a few people volunteer so they carry most of the load while others just attend and critique. If you haven't been volunteering and plugged in, to me your "review" has little weight. read more

I have held such deep resentment in my heart and negativity towards this church for years now, and I recently stumbled across their social media again. I was in high school when I started attending Fearless La. At the time I didn't see it because I was desperate to fit into this trendy Christian train they have going on, but it was filled with drama, cliques, and, I would say, near cult like behavior. It appeals to teenagers and young adults because of its high energy, dramatic sermons, and their extreme attention to trends and aesthetics. I was heavily involved in the youth group at our school, then at the church itself. I applied for their internship and on the first day, my job was to refill the bowl of nuts and snacks for the pastor and his wife in their private room, which at the time was a night club. The "workers" and volunteers WORSHIP the ground pastor Jeremy walks on. I attended for at least 4 years and even up until the last time I ever spoke to him, he didn't know or remember my name. The youth leaders involved us high schoolers in their dating drama and scandals, to the point where I had a freshman friend spending money on these adults' dates. But somehow in the same breath, they absolutely had to separate boys and girls during any youth activities. Their personal political takes were pushed and implemented into their preachings, and your importance to them is extremely limited and conditional. When I started attending less frequently (due personal reasons) I was told that they put too much time and effort into me for me to stop coming. When I did stop attending fully, all the leaders, who I had spent a lot of my teen years trying to please, unfollowed me and never spoke to me again. I am incredibly thankful for the 3 members who I still interact and speak to every so often. 2 of which have left the church and share similar concerns and experiences as me, and as you can see, many others under these reviews. This church has become one of the biggest parts of my struggles with faith. I was 15 at the time, and am now 24, still dealing with the aftermath. A sincere congratulations to the individuals who feel like they have found their home at this establishment. But for anyone thinking of attending or integrating themselves into this church, I'd say to just steer clear for the sake of your faith, integrity, and even peace of mind. read more

I went to a service once with my friend and we ended up leaving during the sermon because it was just weird. The pastor had giant gift boxes with random trophies in them and he handed them to random people during the service. It made no sense at all to me seemed like a gimmick of sorts with no tie to anything biblical. He looked disheveled to me but I guess he was going for the "hipster vibe". He also repeatedly kept plugging some conference they were having and telling people they needed to buy their tickets at $250 a pop and make sure to invite friends. I wasn't a fan of that. I went because a YouTube commentator I liked recommended it and that was my mistake. Entertainment and good theology are two separate things. If you want entertainment come to this church. If you want solid theology to help your spiritual development I would not recommend it. read more

If you are familiar with the "Hillsong NYC" story then you will find similar styles of worship here. It is very much an "Entertainment Church". I have visited with family several times when in town and although the church comes over with a sincere caring attitude, as a Christian with ministry background something deeper bothers me about this place? I don't believe anything is evil here but instead it has a "Charismatic Joel O'Steen vibe". It seems very focused on miracles as well as the deceptive, "Health, Wealth and Prosperity Gospel". Some former members have referred to the "Cultish" environment but it seems more shallow then that and instead based more on emotions, money, style and show business. I would welcome discussion with the ministers here but I got a feeling they would rather me keep opinions to myself rather then have a healthy debate. I hope and pray the church and it's ministers do not follow in the footsteps of "Hillsong". read more

I gave this church multiple chances and wanted to like it. Feels like a cult where everyone is praising the preacher on the stage rather than God's word. I can't even hear what he's preaching without constantly hearing "YESSSS!" "COME ONNNNNN" "PREACH" every few seconds. I get the hype, but it being said constantly, interrupting Gods word comes off as a mockery and I can't stand for that. The preacher will make jokes about crack, Taco Bell and just whatever else to try to be relatable to a young crowd, but it just seems like everything God wouldn't want. This church seems fun and trendy with high energy, but pay attention--you will notice that this church is full of clicks, and the pastors are not genuine, and the basis of the church is not Jesus-led. The pastors put on a show to try and appear to be anointed, but behind the scenes they are corrupt and not genuine. They are what turns so many away from Christianity and the Love of Jesus. Needless to say, I had an absolutely horrible experience here at this church, but I'm thankful that my faith in Jesus was strong enough to withstand the betrayal of these two pastors and their click. I would warn any new believer to be careful, and please don't allow any negative experience here at this church to interfere with your relationship with God. The actions of these "leaders" is not indicative of Jesus/the Gospel; although they do put on a good show. I know many, many people who have had the same experience as me at Fearless, and I know the pastors delete any negative comments to save their image. I just hope this review will be seen and will help anyone who leaves this church feeling hurt and confused about their faith. Church is about people and the people here are incredible. We are a family and just like any family we are not perfect. But we love God and do our best to show His perfect love to every single person we encounter. Whether through a hug, a meaningful conversation, a beautifully written song, a creative clothing line, a heartfelt prayer for someone in the hospital or a powerful sermon--the goal is to love. A very fun and good-looking group of people who started as a Christian rock band from small towns and decided to settle down in DTLA. They are super welcoming and say you are family by your second service. They spent 6 hours with me my first service, I was super impressed by them spending that time. Shortly after, I was a "leader" there, though ~"everyone is a leader who walks through the doors". But, the head pastor one Sunday spoke about 100 leaders that are "missing", it seemed strange, but maybe that's not the full the story. For me, I brought up things that seemed not okay and their complacency with it and how unloving their upper leaders were acting towards me. Yet, I was excommunicated. That if you don't think like them or like all of everything they do, then you are a threat and dealt with accordingly, it seems. Then they called me a gossip, possibly what they have done to others, even though it's competely untrue. A gossip is someone who is talking about things that they didn't experience themselves. They twist the meaning to if you speak about anything they don't want you to talk about. I almost believed their false truth and didn't speak out. What they don't understand is that Love (and other words) isn't their own definition based on their feelings, it is clearly written out in the Bible that they speak out of each week. They accepted the love that was fun and pretty on the surface, anything else, it seems they have trouble with, though they say otherwise each week. It seems they don't understand that sharpening each other is also Love, it seems. Or maybe they feel that it can only come from the top down, otherwise you are insubordinate and not accepting their leadership, no matter what they do or say. The Bible speaks about a church in the end times that is a "church" of human rights. That preaches that you can do anything, lawlessness, but Christ says to keep His law of Love, to measure it with actions, fruits of the Spirit, kindness, longsuffering, etc, not showing love with just empty words. Following the law of the government you choose to be a part of, unless Spiritually moved to do otherwise. When I brought scripture to their attention for things I questioned, they went off of their feelings and instead of listening to the concerns, wanted me to do a ritual that they wouldn't explain what it was. It didn't seem like they knew the Word enough to help with the things I was convicted about them doing. I even came open minded that my understandings were off, they refused to hear completely hear me out. So then they preach from the Word, but now it seems like they aren't a Bible based church. That everything they do isn't based in the Word, or on revelation proven by the Word. The Word is Jesus Himself. They didn't handle this situation with the Word as the settling authority for this dispute, as scripture says we should. I was even called a possible pharisee.... but I've been trying to bring and experience real love from them, but they didn't "feel" like it, that's the opposite of a pharisee. They weren't about love and that's all I've been bringing up. If they're okay with mistreatment of me, and me making a comment is seen as being judgmental, they're looking in the wrong direction, to say I'm wrong for bringing it up and speaking out, as scripture says I should, to see who my real family is. It hurts to be asked to leave this "family". But I hope they and others read this, that they may start to question themselves and each other, as Christ says to question ALL spirits, that includes inside and out. That they realize Jesus really has to become the center and authority for everything they do. I still love them, will always, why I'm writing this. God says to love others, like He loves us, and they aren't my enemy, but we are to love even the people we don't like. Otherwise we're not really showing love by only giving when we want or feel like it. We're supposed to be a great example to the world on how to treat people no matter what they do or think. read more

Maybe you've been here a year and still haven't found home. 2 years ago, that was me - I found Fearless on Yelp, after the first visit, I knew this is where God had called me to make my home. Fearless has a lot of young people, and a lot of them are creatives. Maybe that's not your M.O. it wasn't mine. I'm an Asian software engineer! But the body has many parts, and some only serve one purpose. If you don't fit in at first, but your SPIRIT fits, this is probably the place for you! The people here are the realest people I've met in LA. From Day 1 I saw the love in their eyes and that was enough to overcome any differences. Sure, the worship is awesome and the message will literally rewrite your firmware, but what is Church without real people? It's so easy to get plugged in - if you're in the area, I can't stress how amazing this community is, and how much you will miss if you pass it by. So come check it out!
