When I picked my dog up after five days of boarding, I was shocked to learn that he had been put into solitary confinement an hour after I dropped him off due to "showing aggression with another dog" and he stayed in solitary for the entire five days he was there. When I asked why I wasn't informed of this at all, the employee told me they "didn't have all of the information at the time" which made no sense considering they were the witnesses and decision makers. When I brought him home I noticed a large sore on one of his elbows that he didn't have when I dropped him off at Alcala. His veterinarian told me it was likely caused by laying in the same spot and not moving for hours, a result of Alcala confining him in an area too small for him. He ended up requiring topical medication to treat the wound. My dog had never shown aggression while with me, at any previous boarding facility, nor at daycare sessions at Alcala prior to this boarding. Regardless, even if their accusation was true, the fact they never communicated anything with me and just left my dog to rot in a crate for five days straight was inexcusable.

Scott's negative attitude and lack of respect made me uncomfortable. The way he talks is as if he is the guardian of all the cats in the world and he knows more about our cats than we do Scott gave me the impression that he tries to bust me, or initimidate and undermine me. A good sitter should respect the owner's wishes and follow their routines that they have established through years of living and loving their cats. But what I saw from Scott was completely opposite. He kept interfering with our routines and trying to undermine our decisions. The way he behaves is as if we have to report to him for the decisions and routines that we have for our cats with whom we've had the pleasure of living for over 3 years. This is not acceptable. He should more mindful of the way he interacts & talks with people and respect their privacy and routines.

From the moment we arrived until we left, the care we received was exceptional. Dr. Campbell was incredible. I had a lot of questions and concerns, and not once did she make me feel rushed, dismissed, or like I was being difficult. She would sit down with me, explain what she was seeing, what our options were, and why she was recommending what she was recommending. She was patient, thorough, articulate, and confident without ever being condescending. I was having an extremely difficult time with the decision to put Remi through surgery, and she gave me the information I needed without ever pressuring me. I remember telling my wife that if Remi had to have surgery, I was incredibly grateful Dr. Campbell was the one taking care of her. The surgery went extremely well. Dr. Campbell found and removed the obstruction, and thankfully Remi's intestines were healthy. Afterward, she took the time to explain what she found, how Remi did, what to expect during recovery, and even discussed an unrelated finding so we could monitor it in the future. There are people who are technically excellent at what they do, and there are people who are excellent at taking care of the human being on the other side of the exam table. Dr. Campbell is both. Benji was also incredible. His focus was on making sure I was okay during an extremely difficult night. He checked on me constantly, went out of his way to ask if there was anything he could do, and always seemed to show up at the right time with a positive attitude and some reassurance. His kindness was genuine, and those small gestures made a much bigger difference than he probably realizes. Theresa took amazing care of Remi after surgery. She was incredibly patient, kind, and sweet with her. It was obvious that Remi was with someone who genuinely cared about her comfort and recovery. Theresa patiently answered all of our questions, kept us informed, and gave us a lot of peace of mind. Natalie was fantastic as well. She carefully went through the estimates with me and made sure everything was clearly explained. While I was away, she even took photos of Remi and sent them to me so I could see that she was doing okay. At the end, Natalie found a roughly $200 credit that was owed back to us and made sure it was refunded. After such a significant and unexpected veterinary bill, that level of transparency gave me a lot of confidence that Remi's care was truly the priority, not simply maximizing the bill. I also want to recognize everyone whose names I unfortunately didn't get. Especially in the beginning, I was so worried about Remi that remembering names was about the last thing on my mind. The surgical team was amazing. They kept me informed every step of the way, explained what was happening, what was normal, what to expect, and how Remi was doing. After Remi came out of surgery, they did everything they could to reassure me and make me feel better--even while immediately preparing for another surgery. Their compassion during what was obviously an incredibly busy night meant a lot. There was also a nurse who cared for Remi after surgery whose name I unfortunately didn't get. She was incredible. I had a lot of questions, and she patiently answered every one of them. She made sure Remi was constantly checked on and did everything she could to keep her comfortable while she recovered. I wish I had gotten everyone's names because there are more people who deserve to be recognized individually. Every person we encountered, from start to finish, treated Remi and our family with kindness and compassion. This was one of the hardest experiences I've had with Remi, but I never once felt like we were going through it alone. I trusted this team with a member of my family, and I would do so again without hesitation. Thank you to Dr. Campbell and everyone at VEG for taking such incredible care of our girl--and for taking care of us along the way.

I appreciated that they were attentive not only to the patient, but also to parents and other dogs present for emotional support. (I brought along Skyler's sister Scarlet who is a 2 year old dachshund mix.) They generously offered water and snacks to parents in addition to a blanket for Scarlet after noticing she was cold. In total, the visit took 3 hours, since Sky needed to be sedated. We returned 3 days after to remove his drain, which was done gently and at no extra charge. There was no problem submitting invoices to pet insurance, and the reimbursement was even expedited, since the insurance company found zero issues with the paperwork. Thank you

Roxy requires regular zoomie sessions to keep her manic puppy energy manageable. we got there early Saturday morning before the marine layer burned off and things got too hot. checked out entrances on earlier visits and prefer parking in the neighborhood along the east side of the park, close to one of several gated entrances. there were mostly bigger dogs that morning which is okay since our three are in the mid-fifty to sixty pound range. other dog owners were openly friendly even though most were regulars who obviously knew each other. dog parks tend to get cliquish, but the Power Line regulars were very gracious toward us occasional interlopers. special shout out to the amazing folks who keep the dog park rest stops stocked with fresh water, hauling in mostly five gallon bottles so dogs can stay hydrated. ps: Dennis, one of the regulars, told me this morning (8/3) Eddie does most of the heavy lifting on the water. that's a whole lot of thoughtful dedication -- mad props, deep appreciation.

There are plastic chairs and benches available for everyone and water is often brought in for all by many dog owners. You'll note that most reviews are many years old. The place is not quite the same today as it was back then. For instance, I've experienced one highly aggressive dog with an owner that clearly does not know how to control it. I would rate the dog park a 5 if irresponsible dog owners were not an issue. Unfortunately the worst offender is there most of the time in the morning and early evening. If it was only once in a while, it would not be an issue. People have actually had to change their personal routine to avoid this particular dog and it's owner. The other itresponsible owners (there are several) encourage their dogs to join in howling sessions which are inconsiderate to surrounding home owners. There have been valid complaints from residents who live in homes along the park. Aside from these black marks, the place is normally a quiet and pleasant playground for neighborhood dogs as long as you're lucky enough to visit during hours when irresponsible dog owners are not there. It's unfortunate that everyone cannot feel safe at this dog park.

Each line was lumped together and listed as miscellaneous diagnostics, injections, and medications. I'm sure they are more affordable than other emergency vets, but I would like to know exactly what my pet may or may not receive, and no alternative treatment plan was provided. If your dog has parvo, get the Canine Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (CPMA) shot from Papaya. It's $300 cheaper than VEG.
