A tip if you come here to use the self-service printers: the cost of a single black and white copy on standard sized paper is 23 cents. I say this because you have to set the amount on your credit-debit card that you intend to pay before you are told what the job will cost. then if you didn't put enough and go to the counter to ask for help, the employees will talk down to you like you are a broke idiot wasting their time. they will tell you that the price is on the screen, but they don't mention that's it's there only AFTER you have put in your payment. They will get loud with you about how you don't know how to handle money. Learn from my mistake and the mistake of at least one other customer who had the same issue as I did! --or else go to another location where the employees aren't waiting for someone to tell off. read more

I tried calling the FedEx in Lancing, IN on Torrence and they never answered their phone. I called the Hyde Park location on 57th and Mia answered, with loud music and conversation in the background. I said, Good Morning and her response was dry. I found out there was only expedited "Passport Renewals" with FedEx. These cost $450. You type your own application there. The person put the wrong stickers on the wrong packages and I have spent about 2 hours talking to customer service reps who still haven't resolved anything and I'm currently down the money for shipping, as well as the money for the items that haven't been returned. I only come here to get my Fedex packages that need a signature, since waiting at home til 6:30pm on Valentine's day for wine got old REAL fast! This time was fine, they were fast, friendly and let me use the box cutter to carry my package home. It was a Sat at 1:30 or so so maybe that was just a 'good' time to go. Absolutely rude service by the man who says he's the manager. He instructed me to scan a package and leave it "on top of there," meaning the drop shoot, after I told him I just needed to tape it closed. I did as instructed and headed to the door. The "manager" then got rude. Asked where was my package and I told him I placed it up top. He nastily said he told me to leave it on the counter which I explained he didn't. A man behind me immediately said that is NOT what he said and that he didn't need to speak to me that way. The manager then began to argue with the man. No apology, no thing just straight to arguing. The man asked if he was the manager and the guy said he was. The man in line told him that's bad for business. Won't ever be stopping in this location again. It's not even 9am on a Friday and already this "manager" seems to be angry and rude and obnoxious. I hope they do something about him quick. I feel so sorry for the young lady that has to work in there with him. If he talks to customers like this there's no telling how he speaks to her. read more

Literally refused to serve me. Worst experience as a customer which I have ever had in my life. The employee at this location was rude. That's not unusual. What's unusual is refusing to reprint the shipping label when I realized I had made a mistake. I recognize that my mistake was a stupid one, and I was probably an annoying customer. But there was no one behind me, I wasn't holding anyone up, and I offered to pay for the reprinted label. I'm honestly shocked that she refused to reprint. She literally refused to provide the service she is being paid to provide. I've never experienced that kind of attitude in my life and I think she should be reprimanded or fired. On Friday, February 16th @ noon I needed to send a fax before going to work. Being directed to a machine was easy..the hard part was figuring out how to actually send the fax. A technician who was on duty fixing a machine named Jami took time away from his own job to help me. He even came back a couple of times to make sure my 2 22 page document went through and that I got my final confirmation. Jamie was my Guardian Angel. I needed an eight-page obituary printed right away. The wife of the deceased was not able to get her loved one's photos until the day before. I came to FedEx a few minutes after they opened at 8am. It was my benefit that Lamar waited on me. I was prepared to print double sided on the self-serve and staple 200 obits if I had to. Lamar explained that normally the job needed to be brought in ahead of time, but he realized I needed it that morning, so he agreed to help me out. Lamar took my USB pdf files and rearranged them to print in the correct order. He printed out a test page and for some reason the text was not sharp and each word appeared to have a shadow underneath. This is where Nia came in. Nia reset the printer and corrected the problem, so the text was perfect. Lamar proceeded to print and staple 200 obituaries for a Nichiren Buddhist memorial and funeral that was to start in less than two hours. In my rush to get to the service, I left my USB. I didn't realize until I got a phone call from Lamar who said he would make sure it was put in the loss and found until I came back. I did a couple weeks later and Marvin was great enough to get it for me. Lamar and Nia really saved my behind and went above and beyond and I'm so grateful for their efforts and professionalism. read more

The location is convenient for me but the staff isn't very helpful. The attitudes displayed are as if the customers are FedEx employees. It just doesn't appear that they want to be at work. The employee (who turned out to be a manager) started to key in my info for a straightforward shipment, but then other customers walked in and she took care of them, leaving me without a word. Horrible, horrible customer service. I have been a customer here for several years, as my work has an account with them to get our monthly newsletter printed. Every time I place an order, they confirm it and then claim to have lost the order completely. I resubmit the order, and they tell me when it will be delivered. It's never on time, usually late by at least a day. If they say they'll call when it's ready, they won't. A phone exchange this morning: "Hi, it's (me) from (my work), just calling to see if my order is ready." "Yeah, it's ready... we're just waiting for delivery." "So, I can come pick it up?" "NO, WE'RE WAITING FOR DELIVERY!!" "So, it's not ready." "IT"S READY AND WE'RE WAITING FOR DELIVERY!!!!!!" ... This is typical customer service. They said they would call when it arrived. I didn't get a call. I called them back around noon to see if the order had arrived. It had. I walk into the store. Both workers have their backs to me. One of them is on the phone, having an unprofessional personal conversation. I finally get one person's attention. She takes my name, walks over to my order, looks at it, then walks past it to pick up the phone. I stand there for another five minutes staring at both worker's backs while they complain on the phone about how understaffed they are and how the customers are all seriously pissed off that their orders are screwed up. Finally, the worker brings me my order. The receipt is wrong, I've been overcharged. I take the manager's card and go straight back to work to find out how I can switch vendors so that i never have to deal with these incompetent, rude people ever again. The end. Ugh! I've had the occasional good service with pleasant customer service, but most of the time it is just a painful necessity. This site is two blocks away from a major research university (University of Chicago). If I were a business school professor I would assign this place to my students as a case study: how can a business with a near monopoly position (there are no other copy shops closer, and only a handful in the neighborhood to begin with) give such mediocre and uneven service and still remain in business? I must admit, the reviews made me a little nervous, but I had quite a good experience here. I needed to make some presentation packets made for work - brought in my files on a flash drive and the original packet that I needed 3 copies of. They called when they said they would, made sure that everything was in the correct order, and then completed the project on time. I dropped off the work on Tuesday morning, came in on Thursday to put all the materials/tabs in order (they did offer to have me email them the files in order, but I wanted to stop in), and everything was ready by 12pm on Friday. Dorris and Shayla were friendly and helpful - really lovely ladies. I'll sure I'll be back to get more projects done for work in the future. I'm not happy and at this point I feel like crying. I placed an order with Walmart and the iPad's were to be delivered before Christmas for the girls. So I knew the delivery date was 12/24/14, so I went online to Fedex.com to get notifications for my delivery. I left a message to call me once they were out side and I left cell number. I was leaving out so I decided to call and follow up. I was informed that they were delivered and left on the steps. The CSR person said check in the bushes if you have some, because they try to hide things when they deliver them or ask your neighbors if they seen it. I'd like to know why I wasn't called or the driver knock on the door. So I decided to look around the porch, and check with the people in my building, and nothing was here. So I called back, and they gave me a claim number and said someone would call within 2 hours. I got a phone call, and he asked did fedex leave a slip outside, and did you check to see if the package was out there. I replied, yes and this should not be happening, I don't authorize things to be left unless I have someone to get them or I get them. He said there's a possibility you will get the package later today we will follow up with the driver and get back to you. How in the hell am I getting my package tonight if you say that it was delivered, but I said okay. Here it is 3hrs before the girls open their gifts, so I called back to see what the status or update was. I was on hold for 20 minutes so I became anxious, she said that the driver has 24-48 hours to let them know of the delivery Info while its looked into. Now I know that FedEx can contact the drivers, just call they ass and see where the hell my shit is at. It shouldn't take 24-48 hours to do that. They don't try to assist You in any way for their incompetency. So what do I do about my package that I needed before Christmas that I rushed ordered. There's nothing to do but wait at this point! Which is UNFUCKING ACCEPTABLE. I'm very upset, and my girls and my Christmas has been ruined by DUMB ASS FEDEX. I don't want shit else delivered to my condo from fedex, I will pick my packages up from the facility from here on out! I went in to this FedEx location to make 3 standard 2-sided prints on cardstock. It took over an hour, and the employee was unable to figure out how to print it correctly, nor did he seem to care. He milled around, ignored us while we tried to figure it out on self service, had me print it to the back from the pay-by-the-minute computers, and eventually took my flashdrive to try and print it himself, but couldn't figure out how to select the correct paper... 3 times. All while not speaking to us, while other customers backed up in line. We left, empty handed. He did refund the 25$ in charges that got racked up on my card during the whole ordeal, but I still didn't get the prints I needed. I came in here to print some references and resumes before a job interview. The store is clean, but they were kind of busy and I only saw two people working there. Their black & white printer was busted, so even though the pages I had to print were only black & white I had no choice but to use the color printer. When printing I specifically went into settings and chose black & white only, but I was charged the color price for printing. When I brought it up with one of the employees they told me because I had used the color printer, I to pay the color price... It is not my fault that their black & white printer was down. I feel that even if I use the color printer if I choose black & white in the print settings, then they should not be charging me $0.99 a page to print. For 3 pages and a little over 5 minutes on their computer it was $8.64.... too much if you ask me. That being said, they were there for me in a bind, but I wouldn't go back here unless I absolutely had to. read more
