This used to be an amazing store. I actually opened the mailbox when the stores originally opened and have had it ever since I believe 25 or 30 years. It's sad that after three owners the store is absolutely horrible. It's always crowded. It's always congested. The staff is always overwhelmed. I have been a loyal UPS customer and mailbox holder for over four years as a business owner. Occasionally, when I pick up my packages, one or two may be accidentally left out of the bag. Typically, when I call to report a missing package, it's located shortly after. However, a few days ago, I experienced a more serious issue. I picked up over 15 packages, and when I got home and sorted through them, I noticed one was missing--an item from Nordstrom. I immediately called the store multiple times but received no answer, so I left a voicemail. Unfortunately, no one returned my call. When I came in to pick up my next round of packages, I informed the staff about the missing item. I was told I had already picked it up. I explained that the Nordstrom package was not among the ones I received. The store manager, Torrance, reviewed the security footage and told me, "The picture shows you with the package." I responded that none of the packages in that photo were from Nordstrom and asked how he could identify the sender from a general image. Despite my concerns, he stated he would not take any further action. As a long-time customer, I find this response extremely disappointing and unacceptable. It feels as though I'm being dismissed without a proper investigation. I take this matter very seriously and will not be renewing my mailbox. The UPS store on east 53rd street has employees who can be helpful and others just downright rude. NO one can give me details on my package which was shipped on 8/30/2025- today is 9/10/2025!! I went into the store on yesterday to inquire about my package and got a hostile reception by an older female employee. while I saw other packages from the same shipper near the front door - none was mine. I want to know why my packages are often derailed to an access point while others can be picked up there. I am now at the point where I believe my package was either lost or stolen. It is awful to think that but as a senior citizen I have witnessed some bad actors mixed in with well meaning people. HELP me find my package please! read more

First time on Yelp because I have genuinely had (multiple) nightmare experiences with the UPS. I have an exhaustive list of grievances, entirely too many to write about here. But I think chief among them is the inability and unwillingness for them to help. Customer service calls are all automated and very likely the worst within that category. I had to go to the store to talk to anyone because there is certainly no option to reach someone over the phone, and they were entirely dismissive of the issues and difficulties that I have experienced. Again, the list is so long that I can't write it all here if I tried. I've never made a review like this ever, but I will be using other review services to say the same thing. Don't ship anything valuable from this store, as it may well be lost or stolen. I dropped off a trade-in iPhone using a UPS label provided by T-Mobile. This UPS store accepted the package and gave me a receipt, whereupon the package immediately went missing. (Although I filed a claim with UPS, I am now in endless claim limbo/purgatory.) A friend recently told me the same thing happened to her when she shipped a router back to AT&T. I now use this store only to drop off my recyclable Nespresso capsules, as I don't care if they get lost or stolen. read more

Service was absolutely disastrous. Enter store on Thursday 12/29 because website says they take passport photos. Girl behind counter was THE worse. Attitude. Unprofessional and certainly not understanding as she rolled her eyes hard enough for my 12 year old to see when I asked to take passport photo. Her reply, "we don't do that no more bcs of COVID". Well damn it UPS update your site. Also didn't help they he demeanor while leaning back on the counter was terrible! Never again though. FedEx from now own. This star is directed to one employee at the store, and from my understanding, is the manager. This is concerning. This person seems to be more interested in telling customers, particularly me, what UPS cannot do (i.e. "you ain't gonna get it today" followed by "and the person who does it, is not in today.") One gets the impression that this person is more concerned with telling you what isn't possible versus what is and/or that this person really DOES NOT want to help you complete your order. All I needed was the cost of a spiral binder for the 10 sheets of colored copies they'd just made for me the day before. But, since some, like this person, can't seem to grasp that you have one mouth and two ears for a reason, I have to S.P.E.L.L. it our here. It appears that each time that I come into the store , this person seems to have disposition, which is less than sunny, and it seems to emanate from the owner who was as dismissive as she was when I came to him with my concern. When I asked him the cost of the spiral binder, he "confirmed" that it was custom job and therefore could not offer a price. However, before I left the store the first time (when I picked up the copies), the "manager" was about to go into the price, but she went back to "when it could be done", which was annoying, (because we'd just had that conversation), I left. I know that someone there threw the copies out, (and you know what I'm talking about), because I discussed it with you, the owner. A simple rewind of the video would reveal what happened to the copies I left there and I doubt that it will show that an arbitrary customer picked up papers of a 1867 Colored Magistrate Poll List. Other ways to obtain what happened could include a Request to Produce or Subpoena, but I'll just find another Vendor instead. All other staff were extremely pleasant and professional, but I care not to have to figure out if the manager is going to be nice on any given day and just go somewhere else. It's ashamed that this review is so dark, but some of the staff give the appearance that if you are a customer who is dark complexion, there should be shame, and its reflected in Ms. Manager's vernacular and body language. Super disappointed and extremely pissed. It's the audacity for me to suggest that "you don't need us" - type energy. read more

I mostly use this location to drop off my Amazon returns and I haven't had an issue with them or my returns. There is one employee and I wish I knew her name who is so nice and even with my mask on she seems to know who I am. Now, I don't know if she does that for everyone but she is great. I didn't know I could drop off my postal returns there until one day she saw me carrying this box and asked if I was returning the box as well and I told her I had to go to the post office for this one and she told me nope you can just leave it here. I gave up on the USPS after covid. Had only used usps for convenience, it was close. Post covid they are my go to. Friendly, great and efficient service. So on my errand today, I was going to hit ups and then usps. There young man who assisted me with my boxes, said we can mail those cards..and chimed in "you need stamps"?. He /they covered all the bases. I was so impressed at the end of my transactions, I asked , can I buy you guys lunch. I returned with two pizzas and they were so thankful. I have had nothing but a good experience in this UPS up until recently. I used to enjoy coming into this store because they used to handle my business without any problems but now the associates are rude and inconsiderate. I have a problem every time I go in the store now... the associates are just careless. I also found out that the old manager passed away sadly. I've done some photocopying here and it worked out just fine. That's why I didn't just give one star. These people almost made me lose my house. It was a Saturday and I needed to get my closing documents notarized, and then overnight them to California. I called to confirm that they had a notary on site. They proceeded to refuse to notarize my documents. I was signing on behalf of someone else, and had power of attorney. The notary was like "I don't even know what that is." and I was all like "Um, you don't know what power of attorney is? Don't you have to go to training to become a notary?" Except instead of saying that, I politely asked to speak to a manager. The manager (via phone) said she was legally allowed to refuse me service. They were not interested in helping or giving suggestions. In fact, they were a bit rude and treated me as if I were trying to scam them (the power of attorney was notarized, for Pete's sake!). The documents had to arrive Monday AM. Their incompetence (or "lack of intelligence" as my real estate agent called it) almost cost me my house. Only because I found a mobile notary who could meet me at FedEx - for a very pretty penny - did I actually get them signed and out the door on time (with about 5 min. to spare). In summary: this place may be okay for some things, but do not, ever, trust them for anything complicated! Esp. if something important relies on their competence! read more

I never thought about writing a review for my UPS store...that is, until I experienced the Oakland CA (Laurel) branch of the United States Post Office. Since moving to Chicago a year ago (yea!) I've mailed countless packages to my daughter (in Oakland), my dad in Indiana, my corporate office...a myriad of places...and I've always found the staff to be helpful, efficient and very FAST. Most days, I double park my car and run in to drop off mail, packages, etc. -- this group is so quick, Chicago's finest hasn't had a chance to ticket me, yet. Conversely, I spent nearly 30 minutes in line at the USPS in Oakland...only to have the employee tell me a) I could not ship my case of wine because the liquid would "explode in the plane"?! and b) I was too late to overnight a package to Chicago (it was 2:30 p.m.)?! I am a small business owner and have utilized the UPS store for years (I was with them when they were called mailboxes etc). I have never had a problem with receiving packages, no matter how big or small and the staff is always friendly and helpful. This is the closest UPS store to my community (Chatham, Englwood, or Greater Grand Crossing). The owner, Donna and her staff are always pleasant. I drove to this location to return an AT&T damage modem and I really do not like going to Hyde Park due to the problem of limited parking and I did not know where to park without getting a ticket. I arrived at the location walked in with my box and I did not have to wait 1 minute. OMG, I was definitely impressed and I complimented the young lady who took me right away. I said to her that this is too quick and I am use to staying longer and I felt like I was special like Mrs. Obama or the Queen and I was definitely impressed. Very pleasant, friendly attitude and I did not feel like I was an intruder, in and out in less than 3 minutes and without any hesitation. OMG!! I never thought I would have to write a negative review but my experience way HORRIBLE. The staff member Tesha was extremely rude. When I came in with a large item she refused to help me move it and told me the only way she could help is if I put it on the scale. I explained to her it would be very difficult for me lift an item of that size but ended up having to lift alone any way. Then she continued to huff and puff at me as I told her what that I needed the item packed before shipping. It was so bad I even offered to buy her breakfast if it would make her feel better. She was cranky from the start. This franchise ruins the UPS name and I will not ship anything from that store again. I always have a wonderful experience when the guys in brown come pick up or deliver my packages for me. Its obvious that this UPS store did not attend the same customer service training. The employees at this store have given me the worst customer service experience of my life the night I went in for the first time. Ive lived in HP for 13 years. Apparently this is an independently owned UPS. I had no clue they existed as independently owned businesses. I brought in a package that was basically the type that the receiver pays for because they are a business with an account number. This I guess is a package these independent stores make no money on. So I was treated poorly and as if I was a huge problem. I asked too many questions apparently. The package I was mailing was from my business to another. Im not a fan of this place and probably won't use them to send anything in the future unless I have a gun to my head. It was a taller older man maybe 40, and he was really just not very good with people. He did say it wasn't his business when I asked him. I figured that because I think anyone would be hard pressed to find an owner that treats any type of customer who walks into their business that way besides the Soup Nazi. I own a business and I treat everyone with respect, even if I'm not making money off of them. I also spend time answering questions for people who are not clients just to be helpful as well as fully knowing that maybe at some point they would hire me or send me a client. In the end I wouldn't send a package that I am paying for from this particular UPS just because they are pretty darn rude. The parking is nonexistent too. I had to pay for parking at the bank behind the building to even go in. I did give two stars and not one bc Office Depot UPS wouldn't even take the package for me and sent me here. At least this place did take my package and it did show up, but it wasn't without sufficiently treating me like a stupid, annoying idiot and telling me probably 5 times they don't make money on me. What kind of business talks to customers like that? I can't imagine that if every time a prospective client of mine asks me questions about how I run my business and what I charge and I told them "you know.... Im not making any money off of you so why don't you just leave me what you have and get out of my face. Im done talking to you now because Im not making any money off of you". That's basically what they said using words like, "Im done talking to you now".... "We don't make any money off of this package". In the time it took for him to answer my "stupid" questions again and again, he could have just smiled took the package and moved on. He would have looked good. He could have also spent his time better explaining to me that in the future I could just hand the package to a UPS driver or to have them come and pick it up from my home because it's really corporate that handles these types of packages. But instead he went on and on treating me poorly and telling me he doesn't make any money off of my package. Part of me wondered if he hates white women. It just seemed so personal and a bit emotionally weird on his part. He was really awful. Terrible actually. Out of control and not professional. I have never seen anything like it. I did call later to see what had happened to my package because the receiver said it didn't show up and the man who answered the phone was fine and helpful. read more
