Had an excellent experience at the Fed Ex store in South Boston today. I arrived in the afternoon and the parking lot was pretty full. I was expecting a long line inside but I was pleasantly surprised there was only one customer in front of me. I normally show up with my items prepared and to ship but today I needed an extra box and supplies. I believe I was helped by the store manager Christina. She was AWESOME! She was able to help me find the correct box and shipping materials needed to ensure a proper delivery. Thanks again for making my trip to Fed Ex so simple! These people ALWAYS arrive outside of the delivery window and have never once rung my apartment to let me know when they arrive. I can't even leave a phone number or anything so they can tell me another way that they are here. Also you would think they would send you an earlier than estimated delivery notification if you specifically signed up for all the notification updates. Teach your drivers how to use an intercom, because I am not going to sit at the door for over 4 hours to wait for them. And even if I did I apparently wouldn't be waiting at the right time that they explicitly told me in every other notification email! read more

Most frustrating when the delivery person takes a photo of the package they delivered to the wrong address, sends recipient an email saying it is delivered, then picks up the package and takes it away. Calling the Fedex office is futile because by their records they have delivered the package. That is all they say. No one answers the phone and the online screen that comes up when you press "report a missing package" says "Unfortunately we are unable to retrieve Delivery Options at this time. Please try again later." This is after 10 hours since the supposed delivery. Worse package delivery service ever! read more

EXTREMELY RUDE WORKERS. Possible racial profiling or discrimination. It's COVID-19 and they have a capacity policy: No More Than 3 People Inside The Store. There were 3 people in the store, and I was waiting outside the lobby. I'm an educated man, and I can read, so I stay hovering near the entrance. Despite me not entering the store, the lady says "Could you stay out!! Only three people at a time!" She's having a bad day, I get it. I get away from the entrance completely. Two people leave, so my girlfriend and I step in. (We are within the 3 person limit). That same lady tells her "Go to the side or go out if you're not the one picking up!" My girlfriend leaves the store. There are only 3 people inside, why is she told to leave? But we're good people, so we listen to instructions without saying a word. Meanwhile, an older couple (in their 40's-50's) walk in, making the total count inside the store up to 4. NOT A WORD IS SAID TO THEM. They're white. We're of Asian descent. Do they get special treatment, while we're treated like trash? Are we not good enough? I'm a hard-working American and I was there to pick up a $4,000 set of electronics for my company. Do I somehow have less value than this white older couple? (I doubt it). Why are we told to wait outside? The crazy thing is, this lady is black and treated us this way. I did not expect this kind of discrimination from her, especially when there are other people clearly breaking the rules in front of her. I broke none of their COVID rules. None. read more

I'm still waiting in line as of this moment. I arrived 30 minutes ago and there is a line building up right behind me. Multiple people are in between the two automatic sliding door, and the lack of air conditioning make this a natural sauna room to torture everyone who waits here. From what I have seen, it takes on average about 15-20 minutes for someone to pick up their package. There is only one employee working at the location, and he seems in no rush to prolong all interactions to make this waiting experience even more suffocating. There is a family in front of me, and they are making their kid write down all the information so it's educational and entertaining for him. Someone should honestly make "time wasting" a crime, because I am dying inside. The same woman kept on coming back to ask for her package when she had been clearly informed that her package not here yet. I'm just glad that I'm not hallucinating yet because how horrendous the heat and the wait is. Hopefully I can pick up my package before they close which is in 30 minutes. For the love of god, please add more staff to this location. I just wanted to get my package sooner rather than wait for the weekend to end. But this experience tells me otherwise. If you love heat torture while witnessing the slowest possible human interaction and working efficiency, this is the perfect place for you. Update: after 50 minutes of waiting, he finally got up to pick up my package, but he also had to ask everyone behind me if they are picking up so he could carry the most stuff in one run. (He took about 5 minutes just to get the item from the storage room) there are about 10 people waiting behind me extending all the way to the parking lot, and there are more people showing up to prolong the line, but there is only 17 minutes left before the store closes. I shall say a prayer for all the time they have wasted waiting here just to hear that "the store is closed". Bravo fedex, you have made everyone died a little inside. read more

This is the worst package delivery service I've ever encountered. I wonder if FedEx's in other parts of the country are this bad. The sender was trying to send me small package to my business address. They assured me that they had not made the package "personal signature required"--but that Some Fedex offices require that. I specifically said on my door note and on many calls that they could leave the package during business hours. They would not do that. On one occasion I know I was at my business address during the delivery "window". This is the route on 10 Tremont Street, right near Gov't Center in downtown Boston. Finally I had to take a cab to their facility in South Boston and as the cab wouldn't wait, had to walk two miles back to South Station. Otherwise I know I wouldn't have gotten the package--it would have been sent back. The sender sent it priority on Nov. 1. I finally got my hands on it on November 14. If you need to send or receive a package use the United States Postal Service. It really is pretty good despite attempts to dismantle it. read more

There were three times they tried to drop off my package, and they said that I wasn't home when they didn't even try to locate me via the building intercom nor did they call me. So I went to the store to pick up my package, only to find out that Fed Ex returned it back to the sender without even telling me! Stayed home from work today to receive something that I needed no later than today, and something I paid extra to have overnighted. Around 5pm I get an email from the tracking saying they couldn't deliver the package, and that I wasn't home, and that it will be reattempted on Monday, a day that is three days too late, and a day that no one will be around to receive the late package. The fact is, no FedEx trucks came down my street, nor left a tag, even though one was listed on the email. However, the fact that the delivery exception is listed somewhere two miles away from me makes me think no one even bothered to deliver the package. I missed a package delivery today, but they are open 9am-6pm on Saturdays. So, I hopped in a ZipCar and drove 15 minutes from Allston to Southie. This location is ridiculously easy to find. If you know how to get to South Station, then you can get here easily. Simply follow Summer Street away from the downtown, and you'll be there in about a mile. When I went in, I felt like I was walking into an airport. They had two automatic doors, which must be nice if you're shipping a lot of big boxes. They had two people on at 5 o'clock on a Saturday, and they were able to serve me in about 30 seconds. I handed my door tag and my license to the man at the counter, and he went into the warehouse to find my package. Two minutes later, he came back, and I signed for it. Mission accomplished. Tip - if you are going to come over here to pick up your package, be sure to check the tracking online to ensure that the package has made its way back to the facility before stopping over. That will help you avoid the whole "sorry, your package isn't here" routine. read more

I had a bad experience with FedEx last week. I was awaiting a package last week and they sent me an email that says " my package has been delivered and received by D.Christine ( which is not me ). I went to look nearby the package area there was nothing. TERRIBLE! I have had this happen more than once with fedex, but not nearly as annoying as today's incident. I received a notice that my package had a "delivery exception" i.e. Someone wasn't home to accept it. But that was false. My three roommates and myself were ALL home. There was never a knock on the door, the door bell did not ring, and the most annoying factor is that there wasn't even a missed package notice. Their delivery man obviously didn't come to the door. Obviously, this isn't a normal occurrence among all fedex deliveries, but a company should really hire employees that plan to actually deliver the package. I was dreading coming out here to pick up my package based on the previous reviewer's mention of a 25 minute walk. Fortunately, Google Maps pointed out a bus stop a few doors down from this location. It's about a 13 minute ride from downtown Boston and the inbound bus stop is directly across the street from the facility. The customer service agent who attended to me was friendly and very fast - I wish I could pick up my UPS packages here as well. read more

Third times a charm, I guess. trip #1) After having getting the notice on the door, I made my way down to the Fed-Ex office to pick up my goods - I was too early - no biggie. I asked that they hold my package at the facility, knowing I wouldn't be home and would just assume stop by later on that night or the next day. trip #2) The following day I stopped by on my way home and was informed that my package had not been held as requested and went back out for re-delivery. The woman behind the desk was very helpful and had me stand right there while she put in the "hold" request. She also taught me a valuable lesson- always request the confirmation/case number... thank you Fed-Ex lady :) trip #3) YAY- success!!!! My package was held at the facility and was retrieved with no problem! Thankfully, this was not something I paid extra to have delivered via Fed-Ex or something I urgently needed. I am so fed up with their discriminatory practices I feel like I have no choice but to report them to my State Representative and Attorney General. Fedex hates delivering in certain parts of Dorchester. They hardly get out their vans but would mark your item as attempt to deliver; without leaving a notice. Or, they would leave a notice and run away. Luckily I have security cameras so I literally have to open the door while they're leaving the notice WITHOUT the package in their hands. And if I am lucky they will leave my package next to my trash by the sidewalk. I rather USPS delivery than them! Over the past 10 years I have made many complaints to the manager, and to corporate. I'm not sure another 1-star review will garner any company attention, but I would like to share my experience with the South Boston Ship Center as a customer based in Cambridge, MA. All our packages are routed through South Boston. In our company, we have been using Priority Overnight (PO), and First Overnight (FO) services to have clinical samples shipped to us for analysis. Through this process, we have found that PO rarely if ever, arrives by the stated deadline of 10:30am - most of these packaged (more than 10 shipped in total), arrived closer to Noon. For this reason, we switched to using FO, which should be delivered by 8am. Additionally, we had these packaged routed to the FedEx Print and Ship in Kendall Square, so we could pick up directly from that location (The people at that location are excellent, btw). Despite these adjustments, the majority of the packages do not arrive by 8am. The reasons I received for this vary, but they all don't reflect well on the company. These include: 1) "weather" - despite the plane landing at the same time as usual and being scanned at a normal time in South Boston (pro-tip: you can track FedEx flights online and match them to your tracking info) 2) "customer not available or business not open" - despite the deliver going to a FedEx location, they "tried" to deliver before the location was open. AND MOST EGREGIOUSLY: 3) "customer not available or business not open" - I waited at the deliver location, the FedEx Print and Ship, from 6:30am-7:30am, no door tags were present or trucks had arrived (or even driven by). I watched the employee unlock the door for business at 7:30am. I then received a the "customer not available or business not open" delivery exception at 7:45am. Now - the common thread for all of these shipments is that these delivery exceptions seem to taken place at the South Boston Ship Center or by its drivers. Furthermore, in the 3rd example, this is a lie. In trying to address these issues with customer service and track my package, I have been told "there is no way for us to know where the package is", and "we do not see that information", despite me telling them information that I can see when entering my tracking number online. Each package cost more that $100 to ship. Almost none have arrived on time. Most disturbingly, FedEx employees, and likely the Ship Center head, do not seem interested in accurately reporting the arrival, departure, and delivery of packages. Multiple customer service representatives have remained on the phone for as much as 15-min after the end of our calls, just to avoid letting me provide survey feedback. Corporate FedEx is clearly not acting on feedback in a productive way, and must be dis-incentivizing accurate feedback from employees, if they feel they must lie and/or avoid customer reviews. DO NOT USE FEDEX FOR SHIPPING ACTUAL TIME-SENSITIVE PACKAGES. Especially those that contain something precious, like another human being's clinical sample. read more

Ordered something to be delivered to my home that required a signature via FedEx. Missed three attempts (all three were on weekdays W,TH,F between 12-1pm). If we are not home in the middle of one weekday perhaps a different delivery time should be tried. The following Monday I called FedEx to inquire about scheduling a specific delivery for my packages, and was told that they were not available to be delivered as three attempts for delivery were already made, so it will be held at the FedEx location for five business days. Fine. I confirmed with him that five business days would be Friday - aka if I show up on Thursday my packages would still be at that location. Yes he said, five business days. Fast forward to Thursday and when I show up and wait in line, note the gentleman who eventually greeted me had been standing behind the counter not assisting anyone, while I was solo in line, I gave my tracking numbers. I was eventually told by a grumpy woman that they were returned to the sender yesterday (wednesday - or three business days since I called). What? I was told five business days and confirmed with your colleague. She said I'm not sure I didn't research it. When I inquired how I would receive them, she stated that I had to contact the seller - not FedEx - and follow instructions. No apology, no let me look into it for you, no here's how we can fix it. Beyond irritated that FedEx didn't provide accurate information, not to mention around the holidays, and costing me to wait for the return and reorder the items, reschedule a contractor installing the items, my time, and some of my sanity. Hopeful to never deal with FedEx or the grumpy customer service representative again. read more
