This place is marketing savvy in the best possible way, dangling intrigue like a hook! I'm never scared off by a name with an edge to it. If anything, it makes me stop.. lean in ... and take a closer look. I didn't get inside today. They weren't open when I drove past. I'm always chasing the up and coming. The not yet constructed. The visionaries operating on instinct before the world catches up to them The homogenization of business is everywhere you look, the same stores, the same facades, the same experience repeated until it means nothing. That's not what I'm after. I go out of my way to seek and find the creatives with something to prove, the ones with an edge that makes everything around them feel a little more alive. Lowbar is exactly this kind of place. Because of its austere yellow exterior ... it reminded me of East Berlin right after the Wall came down. That electric, scrappy energy of a place becoming something before anyone's decided what that something is. The edgy side of town. The happening side. That rare moment where creativity fills the space before commerce smooths everything out. The matcha/coffee will have to wait.
